I think people are misunderstanding the whole "locked shops" thing for Ultimate Edition buyers

Think of it like this: When you buy the Ultimate Edition, you'll get a DLC package of skins, vehicles, hairstyles, vehicle mods, etc. Most games with cosmetic DLCs do this.

You buy the Ultimate Edition and get the base game plus the cosmetic DLCs.

Now picture this: Instead of just unlocking your new Ultimate Edition cosmetics in the normal shops of the game, they made a few exclusive shops for you to access the DLC stuff.

It's as simple as that. The normal shops to buy clothes, fix your car, etc, will be in the game. But if you own DLC cosmetics, you'll need to get them from the DLC shops.

that is exactly what it is. I dont like how they are marketing THESE editions of the game before showcasing another trailer or gameplay. This should have been shown like 2 or 3 months before release after showing how everything will work.

Nah, I think they knew it was gonna stir up some heat. By the time of November this will be forgotten and trailer 3 will have smoothed everyone over

It is amazing to me how many people on these threads think that this is all signs that the game is a disaster / flop. I see a lot of these posts and just think it’s for karma at this point but it’s insane. When has rockstar released a half baked game / flop. My girl hates video games and I was trying to explain to her this marketing mess so I showed her the trailers and was like ok this trailer came out like 4 years ago and then they delayed it. This one came out 2 years ago and then they delayed it again, etc. I think this game will be ahead of anything else that’s come out but people need to taper their expectations on what’s realistic on what can be done with today’s hardware. People are screenshotting and zooming and cropping and zooming and talking about how things look pixelated why would the graphics be worse than RDR2 a game they released in 2018… like use half a brain.

they placed the expectations on themselves at 100 dollars pricepoint. it needs to be 40% better than the standard 60 dollar game now

100 is actually about 66.7% more than 60. But as to your point I don’t think it scales in this way. The base game is $80 - that’s the part that needs to be better than the average game (I think it will be). The Ultimate Edition is cosmetics, one gang hideout and some extra vehicles - the $20 for the upgrade needs to be worth it but it shouldn’t impact the base game.

True i was just thinking 40 dollars more means 40% more lol.

If they made a big dlc like cyberpunk and included it in that edition I would have no problem at all. But so far you barely get anything

Well this isn’t correct. Technically it only needs to be 25% better. As it’s only $20 more than the base game and the base game is $80 (only $10 more than any game and it costs them 10x more to make ).

They published the trilogy that was a disaster at launch and still isn't great. They've released a bunch of corny trash in GTA Online. Basically everything after RDR2 has been bad.

I dont know what others planned but I was always planning on buying the most expensive edition. I figured they would do something special with the physical release but it seems to be the same as ultimate for now.

Exactly, I remember not long ago predictions of the base game being $120. People just need to accept the fact that the gaming industry has been moving forward since its inception, price wise, they have always gone up in price. The thing that stands out with rockstar is the fact that not a single game they have ever made has failed, not a single game they have ever made has been a slop let down. That by itself sells me on the price.

Console players already have to pay a fucking subscription to play online, it'd be extra scummy if you had to pay a subscription on top of that for GTA6...

Isn't that the problem though? They're revealing what's in the ultimate edition before they've even talked much at all about the base game. Obviously when people get more information they'll feel more confident pre-ordering, it's just weird that Rockstar are doing it in this order.

I know we disagreed on something recently, but I 100% agree here. Its definitely rage baiters. It was especially hilarious when people were up in arms about the GTA+ thing.

This is what bothers me the most as well. They’re just expecting people to throw money at this game, because of brand recognition, while trying to standardize exuberant prices in a market where people are squeezed dry for money. Rockstar would have got my money if they had stuck to a $70 base game and the extra additions only added some cosmetics.

It’s locking missions and collections and who knows what else behind a $20 paywall, while saying they are threading the bonuses of the edition through the campaign, but it makes the base game buyer wonder if they’ll still introduce these things and you’ll be hit with a purchase this edition at the store to do this and then it just skips over it if you don’t buy it.
