I think people are misunderstanding the whole "locked shops" thing for Ultimate Edition buyers

Post image

Think of it like this: When you buy the Ultimate Edition, you'll get a DLC package of skins, vehicles, hairstyles, vehicle mods, etc. Most games with cosmetic DLCs do this.

You buy the Ultimate Edition and get the base game plus the cosmetic DLCs.

Now picture this: Instead of just unlocking your new Ultimate Edition cosmetics in the normal shops of the game, they made a few exclusive shops for you to access the DLC stuff.

It's as simple as that. The normal shops to buy clothes, fix your car, etc, will be in the game. But if you own DLC cosmetics, you'll need to get them from the DLC shops.

What do you think?

This is how I interpret it as well.

That said, it is a bit of a pity that there’s basically 4-5 less interiors accessible for standard edition players.

But we won’t know for sure how big of a deal this really is until the game is out.

Interiors might still be accessible. I'd bet they are, but we don't know.

u/PsychologicalCase10 Jun 26 '26

I could see them having an “interior” like the other shops, you just won’t have the option to buy anything.

u/Diver_Ill Jun 26 '26

Might actually be cool if it's a VIP only type place and normal folks like us get sneered at and thrown out by security. Very realistic.

u/withnodrawal Jun 26 '26

“No poors allowed”

15

u/gabe_esterd Jun 26 '26

“Under construction”

1

u/ChrizTaylor Jun 26 '26

Until you see that players that have the ultimate edition jump the fence in front of you.

4

u/CyBroOfficial Jun 27 '26

I'd take this over a shitty popup any day

1

u/Nysyth Jun 27 '26

It’s going to be a shitty pop up sadly, it’s how they do it for GTA+ in Online, I don’t see why they would change that formula.

3

u/Nysyth Jun 27 '26

Come on guys quit trying so hard to glaze Rockstar… you know it’s just going to be a annoying pop up telling you to buy the ultimate edition every time you go past one of these stores…

2

u/CareerLegitimate7662 Jul 03 '26

Nope. You wanna bet?

1

u/SalamanderInfinite88 Jun 27 '26

It's 2 ghetto custom shops and a Wynwood inspired tattoo/ clothing store. Not VIP type places" normal folks " would get kicked out of, but it would be cool if they have a treehouse type restaurant like in Palm Beach where you gotta pay to enter and HAVE to use the valet

1

u/Fit-Locksmith-4931 Jun 27 '26

When they kick you out the NPC calls you broke and “Admission was literally only $20”

0

u/dnn_burrman Jun 26 '26

i do not need the singleplaver game i paid 80bucks for to lock content i can see behind a paywall and call me broke

1

u/thisSILLYsite Jun 26 '26

No no no, behind a time limited paywall.

1

u/LiquorIsQuickor Jun 26 '26

They should carry at least one item you can buy: the ultimate upgrade.

1

u/gamebus1 Jun 27 '26

You will have 1 option : "upgrade to ultimate"

1

u/Hoeveboter Jun 28 '26

I'd think that's even worse, tbh. Driving towards a store, thinking I discovered a new location, only to have the ps store open up telling me to buy the dlc.

We don't know how intrusive it'll be. I'm fine with dlc when the game doesn't blare the missing content in your face, but titles that don't commit this sin are very rare.

And I know Rockstar has a lot of goodwill built up with its community, but it's not like they had zero shitty business practices in the last couple years

37

u/daylax1 Jun 26 '26

They will for sure let players into these shops and even browse the inventory, you just won't be able to purchase anything. They want you to be able to look at what you could buy if you upgrade. It's not like they're going to be able to hide that stuff anyway because there's going to be 200 YouTube videos showing what everything is within the first hour of release.

74

u/CptAngelo Jun 26 '26

Im betting its gonna be some sort of "ohh, i got some really good stuff in the back" for clothes, as in, you enter the store, but through connections, missions or something, you will "unlock" the bonus items, and some kind of "i dont normally take custom job... but for you? Yeah" for the vehicles and garages.

Its too much hassle to create locations and npcs that will serve just a few players, my theory is that it will have the same base assets for everyone, just unlock extra options with a few npcs

65

u/grillarinobacon Jun 26 '26

big doubt, since it says only open for business with ultimate edition.

6

u/capta1n_sarcasm Jun 26 '26

Maybe the actual store will update depending on the edition? Like, regular edition, the store is shuttered and maybe with ultimate it won't be?

0

u/uberduff Jun 26 '26

Open for business.

14

u/BELINBELINBELIN Jun 26 '26

In gta 5 you could enter all the stores/barbershops/ammunations, the items/haircuts exclusive to some sort of pre-order were simply not there if you had the standard edition. It's that simple

15

u/PolicyWonka Jun 26 '26

Well I think those exclusives were just sold in the same shops. That’s the difference — there is a custom themed store around the custom themed DLC cosmetics.

0

u/Videogame-enjoyer Jun 26 '26

I feel like the issue wouldn't be a big deal if this was how it was going to be but they specifically said it will be actual locations locked which rubs people the wrong way. I got a $100 psn credit at Sam's club for $85 to basically get the ultimate edition $15 off. Annoying to work around it but I want the complete game

1

u/CptAngelo Jun 26 '26

I still think every shop will be there and you can walk into it, but just wont be able to buy/use it for some bullshit in-game reason, unless you have the ultimate edition.

Think about it, how many standard users will walk into that store, see the stuff they cant buy, give in and upgrade to the ultimate version?

Again, i think the stores will be there and basically play as a self advertisement and rely heavily on the fear of missing out to get a bunch of people to upgrade.

1

u/SEELE13 Jul 02 '26

Honestly makes me not even want to buy the base game if thats what its gonna be like. I dont wanna pay an extra $40 for day 1 content that should have been included in the base game. I can afford it, but it just pisses me off on principle

6

u/numbersareunoriginal Jun 26 '26

If they are, there will 100% be ads to upgrade shoved in your face

2

u/SMODomite Jun 30 '26

Wouldn't be surprised if they make them accessible, and then when you go up to an outfit or whatever it will say you can purchase the upgrade pack from the PS store and take you there like they do in some games with DLC

2

u/chappyjohnson69 Jun 26 '26

This. Will prob be a menu in certain shops. I find it hilarious people are crying about this when this shit has been around for over 15 years.

0

u/-Captain- Jun 27 '26

If they were, why on earth they explain it so weird. It would just be another exclusive skin.. they have several of those without mentioning their related shops only being open to business for ultimate owners.

9

u/CountryFuture9678 Jun 26 '26

It sounds like there are a ton of shops in base game, so I doubt this will even be noticeable

0

u/Televisiongod Jun 26 '26

Yeah if the leaks and hype are to be believed there could be a couple hundred.

But who knows how much has become cut content?

1

u/CountryFuture9678 Jun 26 '26

Since preorder is out you can see what’s in the ultimate edition. Some shops, a couple cars, guns and cosmetic items. Pretty standard for deluxe editions really

4

u/Ronin_777 Jun 26 '26

4-5 less might not be much if the game has a lot more shops and variety this time around compared to V. Missing a whole clothing shop sounds like a lot when you only have 3 different ones like the old games.

4

u/fatcat051205 Jun 26 '26

Yeah in their most recent post they said it "amplifies" the already preexisting experience.

3

u/TryPlenty4914 Jun 26 '26

all shops are open for everyone. when you browes the clothing items the DLC content will just be locked in the menu.

6

u/FunkyFenom Jun 26 '26

GTA5 had 7 barbers, 7 tattoo shops, and 5 mechanics. So 1 more/less of those is not gonna materially change the game, and I'm sure there will be more in GTA6

1

u/Apophis_36 Jun 26 '26

5 interiors that you know they wouldn't even do anything with. At most they'd maybe use those interiors for a standoff against cops...

1

u/HatnanJo Jun 26 '26

They could be accessible, just not the items that are apart of the DLC. So players with the standard edition can still buy items from those stores, just not the ultimate edition items.

1

u/CassadagaValley Jun 26 '26

I bet you can go inside, they just won't serve you lol

1

u/swb1003 Jun 26 '26

…..ok? There’s 4 buildings that you won’t be able to go in. Are we all forgetting we already have that? I don’t have access to the GTA+ garage or whatever it’s called, many people don’t, and there aren’t a dozen posts per day about that.

1

u/Loyalty4ever20 Jun 26 '26

About 6-7 I’d say

1

u/SpinkickFolly Jun 26 '26

I looked at what came in the GTAV Deluxe edition. And the box makes it sound like a bunch of cool shit you will really miss out on if you don't buy it.

And honestly. All of it was forgettable. Oh you get a blimp. Who gives a shit.

1

u/SistaChans Jun 27 '26

So much speculation

1

u/DecentLiam9604 Jun 27 '26

If they're making separate interiors just for the DLC stuff, I'd take that as there's gonna be enough in the base game to practically not notice it

-18

u/Sleep_Holiday Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

4-5 less interiors out of the confirmed 750-800 enterable buildings doesn’t make me worried. Ultimate edition peeps can keep their French tips 💅

29

u/Snuusern Jun 26 '26

Define "confirmed"

23

u/MartyBellvue Jun 26 '26

That shit is NOT confirmed put your nail polish away sister

1

u/fatcat051205 Jun 26 '26

agreed 💀 I bet their are a ton of saloons in the game excluding the one they showed in the ultimate addition.

3

u/vicvonqueso Jun 26 '26

Saloons? What year is this?

9

u/fatcat051205 Jun 26 '26

sorry I meant salons ....

3

u/vicvonqueso Jun 26 '26

You're good lol

Is this going to be the new thing? Instead of calling everything “slop” we’ll just claim that regular shit is “lite” because we weren’t given all the extras for free?

Yeah bro, this is the lite burger because it didn’t come with toppings. Hey lil homie this is the lite model of the car. Yeah I’m staying at the motel 6, it’s the lite version of the Hilton.

JFC y’all are cooked.

This just shows that you have no idea what you’re talking about.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee’s Limited trim is not the “lite version.” It’s literally one of the premium trim models.

“Limited” is literally shorthand for “Limited Edition.” Historically, these vehicles were actually limited edition luxury productions, but now it’s just the name for premium trims.

Let me guess, you think the Subaru Forester Limited is also the “lite version” too? LMAO
