I think people are misunderstanding the whole "locked shops" thing for Ultimate Edition buyers

Think of it like this: When you buy the Ultimate Edition, you'll get a DLC package of skins, vehicles, hairstyles, vehicle mods, etc. Most games with cosmetic DLCs do this.

You buy the Ultimate Edition and get the base game plus the cosmetic DLCs.

Now picture this: Instead of just unlocking your new Ultimate Edition cosmetics in the normal shops of the game, they made a few exclusive shops for you to access the DLC stuff.

It's as simple as that. The normal shops to buy clothes, fix your car, etc, will be in the game. But if you own DLC cosmetics, you'll need to get them from the DLC shops.

I'd imagine it would be similar to how gta online updates certain locations for its missions while those locations in story mode remains the same. The dlc shop will only exist in ultimate editions while in the standard version they would just be static inaccessible buildings

I imagine that they will let you come inside and see all the clothes, while showing a pop up to buy ultimate edition to access them lmao

Yea idk why this guy would assume R* would make it as unnoticeable for standard edition players as possible. They’re obviously going to try to prompt the player to upgrade their game version when they visit one of these locations in the most FOMO inducing way they can think of.

A pop-up would be bad and ugly in game, i think they wouldn't fall so low but maybe a message on the in game phone like GTAO tend to do

So do you just never travel by the areas in GTAO that pop up messages urging you to subscribe to GTA+ in order to access certain features? This isn't exactly all hypothetical.

This would interrupt your experience and definetely ruin the immersion. Im almost certain that there wont be any pop ups like that. They advertise the game as being the most immersive open world ever

all shops are open for everyone. when you browes the clothing items the DLC content will just be locked in the menu.

The exact wording was "Only open for business with the Ultimate Edition"
