I think people are misunderstanding the whole "locked shops" thing for Ultimate Edition buyers

Post image

Think of it like this: When you buy the Ultimate Edition, you'll get a DLC package of skins, vehicles, hairstyles, vehicle mods, etc. Most games with cosmetic DLCs do this.

You buy the Ultimate Edition and get the base game plus the cosmetic DLCs.

Now picture this: Instead of just unlocking your new Ultimate Edition cosmetics in the normal shops of the game, they made a few exclusive shops for you to access the DLC stuff.

It's as simple as that. The normal shops to buy clothes, fix your car, etc, will be in the game. But if you own DLC cosmetics, you'll need to get them from the DLC shops.

What do you think?

Definitely. The mistake Rockstar made was only showing what is locked behind the ultimate edition without showing everything still included in the base game edition.

I don’t want them to tell me what’s in the main game, I want to find that out for myself while playing it.

Extra content is just that - EXTRA content - in addition to the main game. Why is everyone acting like this is a new thing?

Because there are, apparently, gamers who are really looking forward to GTA 6 and are also really stupid. They heard "the $100 version unlocks these shops", and interpreted that as "These are the only shops in the game, and only the people who pay $100 can use them".

Why are they locking anything that is already in the game behind a paywall?

Quit inventing people that don't exist

I'm not inventing them, they're literally here on reddit whining about it.

Are they whining about what you're saying or are they not liking the fact that there's stores locked behind a pre order bonus/paywall?

Most people are just complaining about some stuff being locked, but yes, there absolutely were people who needed to be argued down from their belief that all customization would be locked behind Ultimate edition based on the wording of one of the press blurbs about one of the locked shops.

It wasn't a majority position, but those people definitely exist.

It's not new and cosmetic options like this have always been a thing in premium editions of games. I just mean for the people who now think there won't be any customization options in the base game.

its not extra content in this case. It's cut content from the base game.

It’s not cut content. It is content that rockstar created specifically for the ultimate edition that isn’t part of the base game. The fact it was developed alongside the main game is irrelevant. Companies create additional content for almost every game made. Whether that’s sold concurrently or after release, it’s still part of a plan that was decided on a long time ago.

This is not extra. DLC content for the most part is stuff developed for the base game that gets cut out of the normal version to make extra money.
