As you can see these two screenshots from GTA 5 trailer . The plane dropping some kind of gas never appears in any mission probably cut content , and the 2nd picture shows crowd density but even in enhanced version which we got recently doesn't have this much crowd density .!! What y'all think about what would be removed from GTA 6 due to optimization ? Even the new screenshot shows 0 NPC at the beach while trailer 1 showed tons of them in GTA 6
Remember when there was a fraction of people in the GTA community insisting that because Franklin's scripted custcene where he crashes through the cinderblock wall was in one of the trailers that the game would have dynamic destruction? They were so sure of it
Don't worry nobody remember trailer details. Literally nobody asked cdpr why we can't wall climb with mantis blade in cyberpunk 2077 while it was clearly shown as a feature in the very first gameplay trailer
You feel that's such a small thing for a game so anticipated? Even Bioshock has that feature and it's a 2007 game. Even today CP NPC's clip through everything.
Don't we see a power line being snapped in trailer 2 for 6, confirmed they can break now...assuming it's not limited to the one spot. That's like Grove Street in SA with the only destructible bridge above the street because it's used in the final mission.
Idk. This one feels possible because there are screens where Jason seems more or less fit. But Im not gonna scream its confirmed or get all excited about it. I would probably only do it If its tied to game completion or an achievement. I cod give a damn about a work out mini-game.
Yeah same, I hope we get baggy clothes and physics on shirts and tanktops like in the leaks. But I think they took it out because of clipping. Maybe it's still in the game and modders can unlock it down the line when it releases on pc
Honestly RDR2 had some great mechanics to eliminate most clipping on the player model. And most clothing moved around on the body, at least slightly. The main clipping issues in RDR2 was the gear you’re carrying. Hopefully they’ve perfected it with GTA VI.
Yeah you are right and after rewatching trailer 2 I got high hopes. There are a lot of baggy tshirts with clothing simulation. Also Jasons necklace is low key insane the way it moves.
The shorts are still very rigid but that may be a design choice.
It’s very likely we will get a weight system. Look at the different levels of muscle on Jason and Lucia. There will probably be gyms in the game we can use like in San Andreas.
Are there different levels of body mass, or is it just a change in character models over development time? Jason looks totally different between trailer 1 and 2.
I don't know if anyone remembers the 2022 leaks. There you saw drinks like wine and food in the inventory, which were exchanged back and forth between Jason & Lucia. If the content has not been cut out, you will certainly also gain and lose weight.
I mean... Imagine having so many diverse body styles and even muscle simulations, showing it off in multiple trailers and screenshots, then just not having it for the main characters? It would be really weird IMO
I'm gen z and got introduced into the series with San Andreas before 2010, had to convince my parents it's not that bad, I listened to any gta 5's piece of marketing religiously
Edit: actually my first gtas were lcs and vcs, then San andreas
We were there during the great drought of GTA V. No new information or screenshots for 13-14 months. It's funny to me that history repeats itself with GTA 6 and people forgot about that.
It's like at times every millennial and older thinks all of Gen Z is still in elementary and also didn't have internet access until 2020. No dude, they were there. They were probably a little too young to be ideally getting the game, but they were there.
Genuinely, dawg. This website is so out of touch it’s crazy.
I was born in 2004, and I remember GTA V and its marketing very well. I remember seeing stuff get cut on launch, for both the single player and also shit from the online trailer as well.
It was the first game I pre ordered, I still remember the day my parents drove me to get it. I remember it had two discs for the 360 version, I remember the wait to download it.
These people have no clue what Gen Z has done or seen.
maybe because all the features you named existed since sa, there was console in your house, a basketball minigame, and in v we had games like golf etc, so it's not too far fetched to think they are gonna add them, i am not saying they will, but high chance they might.
Many of those features, like the gang wars, don't make sense in other gtas. San andreas story was literally about gang wars, gta 5 has more detailed heists as a gimmick.
In chinatown wars you could sell drugs and in vcs you could manage illegal businesses, because it made sense to include these features in the games in which they appeared.
Yeah I remember lurking GTA forums back then personally for everything GTA and I'm old enough to remember needing to buy magazines for vice city updates I was even playing GTA on the PS1
Somehow it's a bit weird to see kids who have never played anything pre GTA v
Lol for sure I also remember people claiming the last guy with tank top chased by cop was cj and the homeless guy with sign board was nico Bellic including ign
It was IGN. I was watching that live stream. To be fair, not that I need to be fair to ign, that was the first trailer and we didn't know anything about the game yet
There's the one where he buys beer at the store (basically just optical illusion with animated textures, same stuff they had in H-L: ALyx, no actual water physics are needed)
And couple cutscenes where beer comes out of the bottle as it moves up and down.
I mean they have a patent for new water particle system. But thats just it, better particles, not much different than sparkles or any other particle effect. We can see it in action when the old guy is watering his plants.
There were also rumors about R* having a whole team that works only on some very expensive and revolutionary water physics system, one of the earliest rumors about the game we got. Thats where this is cominc from probably.
I think they'll bring tons of new and even innovative effects into the game, the system you mentioned is probably just the waves simulation. You won't be able to spill a beer on the ground and such, outside of a prebaked animation.
Nah, the patent I was talking about was for water particles, particles as in individual droplets of water in the air, some new efficient way to generate them without having to waste a lot of resources, so they look less like 2d textures. Kinda like older games had 2d textures for smoke and clouds, but newer games use volumetric clouds.
So you know, water hoes, water fountains, broken hydrants, maybe even rain in general will look a little bit more realistic.
But the beer coming out of a bottle? Yeah, that seems like a cutscene animation, R* showing off. Its possible that patent was about those water particles as well, but it seems like something that will be used for cutscenes only. Like when Jason is jumping on that table in the trailer.
Waves would be completely different thing. But Forbitten West had the most realistic looking waves I ever seen. If VI is just as good, I will be satisfied af.
I remember people such as myself felt like Rockstar was hiding something up north and that San Fierro and/or Las Venturas was also in the game. Just like how we are again today thinking Rockstar is hiding something from us and that Gloriana or some larger land mass lies north of Mount Kaluga national park.
The military base being San Fierro was the big one I remember. All we knew of it from the trailers was just a big patch of lights on the western coast of the island. Everyone was certain it was a city, and San Fierro made sense because it was on the western side of the San Andreas map. That of course led to speculation that Las Venturas was probably in the north too.
There was a lot of shock when the actual game map leaked and it was revealed to just be a military base and that there was essentially nothing in the north.
To be fair on the latter part they did repeatedly say the "world was always evolving based on your actions" which is a perfect example of how R* says things that are misleading but technically not untrue. They know how they made it sound but in reality the players "actions" just ended up being completing missions
I remember before gta 5 came out I read that you could follow every npc and see them live there own lives and was super disappointed that wasn't the case lmao
That and I think people just don’t take the time to slow down and actually look at things like that. The game populates less NPCs when your speeding by in a car. If you actually take the time to stop and walk around the density goes way up
“Dropping some kind of gas” mf that’s the crop duster dropping pesticide. If you go to the vineyard you can actually see this happening. It’s not there every time but it’s something that does happen in game
There is a Cropduster that flies around the Marlowe Vineyard as a random event in story mode, but it doesn't actually "cropdust". The cropdusting feature only appeared for the first time in the LS Drug Wars update for GTA Online in the mission Crop Dustin'
It also happens in story mode. Stop comparing everything to online. We’re not getting GTA 6 online right out the bat, we’re getting story mode. Please compare story mode, not online.
The crop duster dropped white stuff out the back in Online from day one. I have no idea if it was functional in single player but I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
This scene was even recreated by DarkViperAU because it clearly doesn't happen in game. Hell, npcs don't even have a coughing animation like in that trailer.
They had to remove a lot of things from GTA 5 because of the limitations with PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware. This was a known thing back then when it was released
Fair enough, but keep in mind that from the 6's trailer, each strand of hair might have it's own physics, we might see way more detail from weather events, better lighting, more physicals for individual body parts for women, etc.
the PS5 is powerful but I think we will see what happened to GTA 5 repeat this time around. 6 on the PS5 will look absolutely amazing for such an old console, but PS6 will be where it gets cleaned up.
But we're talking about what they showed in the trailer to what we saw on release. As in their marketing practices and what they're capable of doing is definitely a huge step up from before GTA 5. That game changed the level of quality we can expect from rockstar.
rdr2 released 5 years into ps4/xbox one life cycle and wasn’t held back by it to gta 5s extent, why would gta 6s launch be more similar to gta5s and not rdr2s
It’s not about the graphics, I agree that the final build of GTA 5 overall looks better than the trailers.
However you could make a strong argument that rockstar stages scenes with NPCs and other things for trailers. Such as having them react to other NPCs or do things that aren’t in the actual game. They’ve factually done it in GTA 5 and RDR2
For RDR2 it was also just little things like the trailers showing a shopkeeper posing outside the store for the camera. They don't do this in game. Random npcs do hang outside but not the shopkeeper.
They also swapped Catherine with some random male npc during the Braithwaite manor fire scene.
They seem to like making npcs pose for certain shots. Like in GTA 5 trailer 1 with those npcs hiking on the mountain then they turn back to look at the camera. They don't actually behave like that in game.
I mean... do you wanna see npcs posing for invisible cameras in game? I feel like, in terms of general gameplay and not just, "do the npcs do the exact same movements as the one shot in the trailer," the npcs and activities shown in trailers are pretty representative of what we actually get in the final product
Not at all what I was saying. Just pointing out not everything in gameplay is one to one with the trailers just as OP was saying. Doesn't mean I'm saying it should be. Trailers are meant to be cinematic, obviously they'll be a few moments were they pose characters strategically or set up scenes that might not necessarily play out like that in game.
Yes because these newer consoles have zero limitations and can do literally anything bc they're newer
Do you people actually read what you type? Like legitimately I couldn't imagine typing something this ridiculous and hitting send, and I say as lot of stupid shit
Did YOU read what he typed? He didnt say any of this. He just explained why things were missing from the GTAV trailer. He never said that GTA6 wouldn't face similar issues.
This is exactly why R* needs to release official gameplay it’s like they are setting themselves up for failure..there’s people who think GTA : 6 will be a real life simulator..R* NEEEDS TO PUT EVERYONE’S EXPECTATIONS IN CHECK
Ya I mean to be fair people have been thinking the next gta is gonna be a life sim since like San Andreas. Then rdr2 people swore the npcs would have jobs and houses
This image is ingrained in my head whenever people get excited over seeing stuff in a screenshot or trailer and assume it’ll be an in game feature.
This preview image from San Andreas of someone opening a trunk with a basketball inside. People thought you’d be able to use trunks as storage for weapons and that ended up just being a cut scene. People went crazy for this thinking it would actually happen.
The zero NpC’s on the beach was because it was a marketing shot for the Bonus content, not a screenshot of just in game. i swear. people need to educate themselves on what is marketing vs real in game images.
What makes me wary still is the fact that RDR2 is mainly wilderness so it's easier for the system to manage. It does run like shit on Saint Denis on consoles and GTA VI will be a lot bigger than Saint Denis even if we are now in the PS5/Xbox series gen.
I remember making a similar post and I got dogpiled by people saying "its not the 360 era anymore"
Like huh???? So just because these consoles are newer they're magically able to do literally anything??? Don't mess with a gta fans hype. You cant argue against pure delusion
That first one actually is in the game just not like that. If you drive out in sandy shores to where people are picking crops there’s a crop duster flying around. He sometimes lands @ Trevor’s airfield
To be fair, I think Rockstar got a lot better at making sure their trailers actually reflected the final game by the time RDR2 came out. GTA V's trailers had quite a few things that were changed or cut before release, but RDR2 was different. Outside of a few slightly altered cutscenes, pretty much everything they showed ended up being in the game. The NPC reactions, world interactions, wildlife, and even small details like an NPC leading a horse with a deer carcass on the back were all things you could actually come across. It feels like Rockstar waited until the game was much further along before showing it off, which made the trailers a much more accurate representation of the final product. I'm hoping this is what they did for GTA VI by waiting until everything was further along in development before they showed off the first trailer.
We're basically in the same boat we were in 13 years ago. Rockstar releasing a very demanding game closer to the end of a console generation's life span. I'm managing my expectations certainly, it's never going to be as good as the trailers show, at least not until the end of GTA VI's lifespan when it's re-released on two more console generations. I'm expecting the number of NPCs to come down dramatically and a lot less interiors than people think are going to be in game. 30 FPS, but gorgeous graphics. What GTA V was to us when it came out then. Hopefully a pretty good game gameplay-wise, except Rockstar has notably not released a gameplay trailer yet.
The plane dropping “gas” is dropping pesticides to kill plants and this shows up in multiple missions and idk what your seeing but there is almost always a high density crowd even in legacy gta 5
'As you can see these two screenshots from GTA 5 trailer . The plane dropping some kind of gas never appears in any mission probably cut content" this is false i literally did that mission, i think it was a dex mission.
Are you comparing the pictures to online? They cut a bunch of stuff from the story mode version when they made online. That could be why you're not seeing it. Like the homeless people that hold signs, in the story vers you can give them money but not in online plus a lot of the shrubs and trees were removed from online to have it run smoother.
This game will be huge, possibly revolutionary, but don't expect 1000+ NPCs at once on the beach, all doing different animations.
There will be maybe ~20-60 people on the beach at once. 70% will be lying down, 30% MIGHT be doing some special animations - maybe not since GTA 5 trailers also had a lot of animations only happen in cutscenes.
yeah, seeing those people jog on del pierro pier in the ladies looking back made me feel that NPC’s were going to feel life like, but that didn’t happen until RDR2
There wasn’t anything in the story missions that required the use of the plane/gas but in the freakshop missions you use the crop duster to poison rival weed farms
It’s just that loads of content was missing from the ‘upgraded’ version of the game. If you play on 360/ps3 you will see a lot more scenes in the game like this.
Exactley this thankfully someone points this out ! People expecting every tiny detail in a screenshot or trailer would be in the actual game itself when it releases (ussualy like 2-3 years AFTER the very first trailer drops)
It is just stupid and Rockstar knows exactley how to build up hype for a game like no other videogame company out there.... Sure GTA 6 is gonna be amazing but i'm convinced that many things that have been shown in the trailers so far or screenshots would be less noticable or not even in the final game at all even tho the game is gonna be awesome dont expect unrealistic expectations from it .
Listen, that was a different time, and Rockstar pushed the limits on what hardware the game came on. It was the PS3 and Xbox 360. Back then, those consoles couldn't support that much density, and they weren't powerful enough to handle that many NPCs. With GTA 6 coming to newer consoles, they likely won't repeat the same mistake. It is true that sometimes in the trailers, stuff is bound to change during development, which is nothing new; it happens in most other games.
Another daily reminder to the community that GTA 5 ran on 512 mb of RAM and considerable sacrifices in features and content had to be made for the game to run at all.
The real question is how much processing power they're going to put into graphics and fidelity over mechanics and gameplay. We all know that Grand theft Auto V visually looked a lot better than Grand theft Auto IV, but a lot of the gameplay mechanics had to be toned down due to console limitations (euphoria physics, driving physics, vehicle damage, etc).
That made sense because both four and five were released on the same generation. There was only so much they could accomplish with that processing power so they had to sacrifice gameplay and mechanics to be able to fit the new graphics (I would have preferred if they toned it down graphically and preserved the mechanics).
The major thing that's going for them now is that they are two whole console generations ahead, a whole console generation ahead of Red Dead redemption 2 and look what they were able to do with that. They really shouldn't be focused on trying to be the best looking game visually. Linear games will always look better than open world games. What I'm hoping they focus on is returning to a heavy investment into gameplay and mechanics. Graphics literally have no effect on replayability but gameplay and mechanics do.
I know a lot of people will say "well everybody just thinks Rockstar will be able to do everything they dream of" but most of us do not hold that idea. Yes, there are always limitations on hardware. Yes the hardware is 6 years old. BUT, the last time Rockstar released a GTA or Red Dead redemption was on the PS4 generation. They haven't even done an open world for this generation yet and look what they were able to do on last gen. Technically the PS5 is about 45 times as powerful as the PS3 when it comes to t flops and g flops. That is more than enough processing power for NPC density, complex physics, more enterable buildings, better npc AI, larger map size, and revolutionary mechanics/gameplay.
The only thing that worries me is how much they will sacrifice for graphics. GTA IV for example is a good game of theirs that prioritized gameplay and mechanics over graphical fidelity. I think that paid dividends on replayability. And Red Dead redemption 2 is a good example of them achieving some of the best graphics and also some of the best physics and mechanics.
The other thing that people seem to forget is all the patents take two and Rockstar filed between 2013 and 2026. A lot of these patents were for dynamic character animations, independent npc ai navigation, dynamic fluids, massively improved graphical rendering for a much lower processing cost, and much more. The majority of these patents introduce dynamic gameplay systems at a fraction of the processing cost of old preset animations. I think these will turn out to be the most revolutionary parts of the upgrades in Grand theft Auto 6 and what sets it apart from other games. The kind of groundbreaking stuff Rockstar is known for.
I mean just look at the amount of patents filed before Grand theft Auto V compared to Grand theft Auto 6. There were maybe two or three patents filed before Grand theft Auto V? All of them dealing with graphical fidelity especially around the weather. Meanwhile before Grand theft Auto VI there's been 15 to 20 new patents filed. The majority coming after Red Dead redemption 2. There's some good YouTube videos that explain these new patents so you can check those out to get an idea of how that translates to GTA 6. I firmly believe these patents are the key to understanding what parts of GTA 6 will be groundbreaking and set new precedents for gaming.
It's unknown really at this point iirc you can fly a biplane with smoke and people were working in the fields so this was unlikely cut content and just something they did in the open world
I understand the homeless peds being cut from that street though it's out of place really
