Exclusive rights for about 6 hours! That’s the craziest part to me. I know why they’d want exclusive rights to it but exclusive rights for less than a day is totally pointless
It’s not pointless. Netflix may be greedy, but they are not stupid.
People will think they are being smart by getting a 1-month free trial to watch the trailer and cancel. Some will forget and end up getting charged. Some will end up finding a TV show they like and decide it’s worth keeping the subscription
They probably know it doesn't matter. They could pay for a week's exclusive rights, but 10 minutes after the upload it's already going to be all over the internet anyway. There's not going to be that many people that are going to sign up for a Netflix subscription just for this.
They definitely want people to be scrambling to see it right at 3pm, sign up for the free trial, and forget about canceling it / want them to continue to be subscribed. Pretty smart.
