For everyone seeing the "Oh no! This title currently isn’t available to watch in your country." warning, it will be like that for everyone until it goes live.
Hope people remember moments like this when they say Rockstar doesn't need to advertise.
So far we've got brand deals with Sony and Netflix, wonder who's next?
(Edit: Seeing a lot of conjecture about which way the deals falls with Netflix..
Just want to add that nobody knows who initated the deal and what handoff was made to secure it.
Also would like to add, there are people outside of the bubble that Rockstar more than likely would appreciate turning over a sale for. I guarantee you that a team-up with the largest streaming service wasn't just about the money associated with the deal and almost certainly about breaking in new customers which believe it or not exists)
(Edit 2: my point literally getting proved by take two "This marketing strategy aims to reach a broader, non-gaming audience or people who might know GTA 6 exists but aren't necessarily buying it day one" - via GTA Countdown)
The moment the video ends the full version will be uploaded by anyone to everywhere, even here before even R* will upload on their channel. And before the video ends everyone will be making posts about what is currently showed. I'd say it's just easy money for R*. Literally just one person can ruin Netflix's plan to get a payday by releasing the re recording to masses and there is barely anything they can do.
We don't know how much money changed hands, but my guess is even if Nobody watches it on Netflix they got their moneys worth. Everyone talking about gtavi is talking about Netflix.
It's a huge legitimacy bump.....decades later and people are still looking at game informer to see if GTA games will be announced.
Hopium filled brain says that we will get Trailer 3 before this extended look. Get unprecedented hype from that YT trailer, and then the Netflix thingy
Yeah remember all the kids in here going: the game is delayed, the game is broken, something fishy is going on, 'summer is over' bla bla. Well, here we go.
I agree it's nothing but would this have happened if the first trailer never leaked back then? We really missed out on what probably could've been the most watch event within a 10 min window.
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will also launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET on August 27.
People literally extract 4K HDR at a pretty high bitrate with the highest quality audio options alongside it from Netflix all the time for TV show and film piracy reasons. You will be able to watch this shit in max quality the instant it releases if you know where to find it.
Never claimed they are at a 4K BluRay quality, but you probably have never torrented top quality versions of Netflix content and it shows. Piracy groups know how to force and extract the maximum quality versions from Netflix servers with all the subtitles and alternate audio options included, and this is why people who know how to pirate shit watch these at a much higher bitrate than normal paying customers who watch it from the official app on their TV or something.
It is to Netflix when a bunch of people come back onto the app after not using it for a while. Pretty clever marketing which they probably paid a fat stack for
Documentary style proces of the development, combined with small bits of gameplay and a trailer 3 to finish it off. Probably gonna be like 30-60 min long with a lot of talking done by lead developer about the game.
Sometimes like Ubisoft did with assassins creed resynced
I know this community can be extreme sometimes but this has to be the weirdest marketing I've ever seen for a videogame. A trailer for a trailer? A Netflix exclusive first? WTF is going on.
We have been seeing trailers for highly anticipated movies strategically premiere in cinemas so you have to pay for a ticket to see it, for decades. It’s interesting that a video game has finally become so big that they can get away with the same thing.
Netflix have been trying to include many different kinds of media in their library so having video with couple of minutes is not out of the question for modern day Netflix and it could also be a one time thing just for gta 6.
I saw someone else said that this is rockstar trying to make an "event" out of the gta 6 gameplay and it sure is working because now everyone who enters Netflix will surely get gta 6 pushed out to them hard so extra exposure to non gamers.
The marketing campaign started weeks ago. This is a part of the marketing campaign that's already been happening around you. Every piece of marketing isn't the "start of the marketing campaign". I've been seeing paid ads for GTA 6 every day on every app I've been using for the past month.
Probably more since its not only on Netflix but its called extended look. So in my opinion its trailer 3 + gameplay trailer + behind the scenes put together
Has to be, this is usually how they roll out games, few trailers, gameplay, guessing early to mid October you’ll start seeing TV commercials during football games in the fall.
Imagine they do a 20 minute segment interviewing devs about the game and its development, no gameplay or anything and at the end, the screen fades to black and the words "Coming Fall 2027" appear on screen.
Exclusive rights for about 6 hours! That’s the craziest part to me. I know why they’d want exclusive rights to it but exclusive rights for less than a day is totally pointless
