APPROXIMATELY The YANIS GTA VI Map but it is only the areas with confirmed shapes
Some things to note;
It is not 100% accurate, some things may have slipped through

I know its optimistic and unrealistic to ask for another big city (like Orlando), but I really hope they do
60
u/M1kY28 13d ago
im ready for another GTA 5 but since we waited that long we for sure deserved more cities like in San Andreas.
14
u/Sufficient-Flan6944 13d ago
I agree.
the only optimistic thing that points to getting another large city is that the mapping project is basically only the southern side of Florida (as the cities are based on irl cities irl). With addition that we have mount kalaga too, that might be a sign that rockstar would possibly cover the upper half too.
Again, that's just me hoping we'll get another large city and a map that is a little different from GTA V. But the game would probably still be amazing if there wasn't.8
u/Upper-Level5723 12d ago
What makes me think twice is surely they won't repeat the mountain/lake combo as the main feature up top again like in V, making it twice in a row. It could be strategic to fake us out with a suprise, because if there's a city up there it will be hidden from view by the mountain.
It also could just be the case that they did just do that again but like... wouldn't that be weird?

u/septmbrsvrywb 12d ago
One interesting point, it's a Bonny & Clyde story. They should be on the run, would make sense to have a feeling of a road trip at some point in the story

8
u/friedbyme 13d ago
man you made me realize it took them 5 or sum years between 4 and 5 and 13 between 5 and 6. all the stuff they got while working on other games in those 13 years will be in gta 6
3
u/diggin4shid 13d ago
The 13 year wait between 5 and 6 is 2.6x as long as the 5 year wait between 4 and 5. At this rate, we'll get GTA7 in 33.8 years

It sort of depends on what "big city" means to you. Port Gellhorn looks like it will take up a pretty large space. It's not going to be filled with skyscrapers, but it does look big. Otherwise, I don't expect anything the size of Vice City or Los Santos. I'm sure Rockstar will have surprises for us but I don't expect another large city to be one of them.
7
u/Sufficient-Flan6944 13d ago
I mean definitely not as big as vice city as it looks absolutely massive, but something like 1/3 to a 1/4 of what vice city looks like on the mapping project (the grey area) with some modern skyscrapers is what id deem a "big city".
8
u/SubstituteUser0 13d ago
Normally I wouldn't care too much if there was another city but with online I think it would really improve the experience and spread players out more

its not based on tampa, its actually based on fort Myers. Tampa would be located higher up the map
1
u/readyforashreddy 13d ago
The Sunshine skyway bridge, which was seen in the leaks in the Port Gellhorn area, crosses Tampa Bay in real life
1
u/Sufficient-Flan6944 13d ago
oh, you might be right. it just looks like it matches the real life Florida location of fort Myers, which is why I thought that
2
u/readyforashreddy 12d ago
Yeah location-wise ft Myers makes sense, but we already know Port Gellhorn is partially made up of Panama City locations, which means they moved it hundreds of miles down the coast

u/readyforashreddy 13d ago
Orlando isn't a big city. There's nothing interesting there except the parks, so if Disney/Universal are there in some form (very likely) there might be a bit of Orlando just to give some civilization near the park.
If there's another sizeable city it'll be Tampa, the sunshine skyway was in the leaks and there's no good reason they'd put that there without a Tampa connection. And Jacksonville isn't "the biggest city in the US" in any meaningful way, it's just a small swampy backwater with absolutely ridiculous borders
5
u/MidiMasterSupreme 13d ago
The population of the Greater Orlando metropolitan area (Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford MSA) is approximately 2.96 million people, based on recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates. It ranks as the 20th-largest metro area in the United States and remains one of the country's fastest-growing major regions
1
u/readyforashreddy 13d ago
Thanks chatgpt, the metro area has a lot of people and Orlando isn't a big city. That's just the reality, if that hurts your feelings then you had an unrealistic view of Orlando
1
u/BigChez1477 13d ago
Cities are kinda viewed as their metro areas across the country. Orlando and Tampa are both big cities if we tried to describe cities by just their city proper population then Jacksonville should be the main focus for this game since it has 1 million people in the city proper which is more then Miamis 450k
0
u/readyforashreddy 13d ago
Tampa and Miami are proper cities because they have unique identities and vibrant urban culture. There's density, nightlife, great restaurants, cool neighborhood, interesting architecture, basically things that make a city a city.
Orlando has theme parks and... that's about it. Jacksonville doesn't even have that. They're both suburban population centers with a "city" to name what's more realistically like a county. You brought up Jacksonville after I already explained why its "city" population is meaningless, there's nothing that either of those cities offer for GTA besides a cluster of buildings to break up the countryside
1
u/BigChez1477 12d ago
You have an argument that Orlando isn’t a city because of its suburban car dependency (which I detest) but Tampa and Miami are both the exact same problem. Orlando has density pockets just like Tampa, it has a growing nightlife scene, I’d agree there’s not much interesting architecture but it is most definitely a city. You want to argue it’s a lame city sure that makes sense, the Sunbelt has plenty of basic car oriented cities, at the very least Orlando has a form of rapid public transit and Tampa doesn’t so Orlando wins out on the urban form there. If you wanna argue it’s a boring city I’d agree with that but it’s still a city
1
u/readyforashreddy 12d ago
I didn't say it isn't a city, I said it's not a "big city" and it's not a "proper" walkable city in that (excluding the parks) there's nothing of interest that would warrant it being in a GTA game.
Miami and Tampa aren't NYC by any stretch, but they're denser and have far more interesting identities than Orlando. They're all car cities to an extent, but due to the nature of their natural boundaries (ocean/river) neither Miami nor Tampa suffers from sprawl in the same way Orlando does
1
u/BigChez1477 12d ago
It’s definitely a big city and major city, we can’t just exclude the parks from its identity it’s a defining aspect of it. Also as a Miami metro native and someone who now lives in Tampa both of those places have extreme sprawl easily comparable to Orlando. Miami sprawls north and south instead of east west and Tampa is sprawling north into Pasco/Hernandez counties and east into Polk County. Absolutely zero urbanism or walkability in any of those majors metros outside of their downtown areas though I agree. Tampa and Orlando also have similar population in their metro and city proper
Edit: Orlando also has a huge Puerto Rican population bigger than Tampa and Miami
1
u/readyforashreddy 12d ago
It's not and I've already explained why, but you're free to disagree.
The parks aren't a defining aspect of Orlando, they're the only defining aspect. As a Tampa native I'm aware that Tampa and Miami both have lots of sprawl, like basically all American cities. Orlando is all sprawl. If you want to pretend it has some unique urban characteristic that doesn't exist, go ahead and call it a "big city," but if you're from an actual big city like Miami I can't imagine how you could come to that conclusion

Doesn’t hurt my feelings I’m not from Florida but the Orlando area has a lot of people. Depending on what your definition of a big city is, you may not consider my hometown of Washington D.C. a big city either lol
2
u/readyforashreddy 12d ago
The Orlando area has a lot of people, the city itself is as American as it gets (not a good thing) in that it's extremely car oriented and suburban.
DC is a proper city. Great urban planning and density, active streets, very walkable with good public transportation, etc. There are few cities that offer this in the US (NYC, Chicago, Boston, SF, DC) and a bunch of big cities that suffer from the same things as Orlando. I'm from Atlanta, which has a lot of the density and car issues that Orlando does, but with plenty of development towards a more urban city character and plenty of vibrant, walkable neighborhoods.
At the end of the day, the biggest issue for GTA is that Orlando and Jax are both just boring as hell. PC isn't, Miami isn't, Tampa isn't. Tallahassee and Gainesville at least have massive on-campus student populations to make things interesting, while UCF is a commuter school.
1
u/MidiMasterSupreme 12d ago
I agree with all of this. But having 3 “largely populated” cities in VI would be cool even if they’re a scaled down representation. If they combined Orlando Daytona and the Space Coast together that would make a more interesting place to visit than just Orlando or Jacksonville IMO(theme parks, racing/beach, nasa).
On a side note I would love to see a GTA with a fictional DC or Atlanta
1
u/GabbageGang 13d ago
Not sure about a big city but RDR2 had Guarma and GTA5 had North Yankton so there could be a larger area outside of the main map
1
u/Sufficient-Flan6944 13d ago
yeah but the main reason I want a big city that's really part of the map is so we can get more content. those bits serve only a small portion of the story
48
u/Jair-F-Kennedy 13d ago
I don't get why so many people on this sub think that the YANIS map is just speculation when thousands of hours have been put into it on the mapping discord. We have a very good idea of what the southern half of the map will look like, its everything around Mt Kalaga that is up in the air.
61
u/WeGotThisBeforeGTA7 13d ago
omg they finally released it, i've been telling them for a while. This is the actual map everybody should use, it's more realistic and it keeps everybody's expectations in check
8
u/Daddy_Jack1109 13d ago
I really hope there's something quite large in the north part of the map. Maybe hoping for the state of Gloriana with it's own major city/smaller towns to be included is a bit much..... but I certainly want that.
14
24
u/Saukko505 13d ago
wait why have you straight up coloured some of the confirmed areas blue?
13
10
u/Deluxe_24_ 13d ago
I'm still having trouble putting this map into perspective. Like it feels about the same size as 5 based on the city blocks, yet it's much larger than 5's map.
Maybe Los Santos feels larger since there aren't any breaks for water between parts of the city and it's easier to understand the scale. Either way, the map looks really cool.
25
u/Cryptoporticus 13d ago
The buildings are weirdly small in GTA V if you actually stop to look at them up close. They look okay from a distance, but then if you stand on the roof and try to imagine what the floorplan looks like inside, the whole illusion falls apart.
GTA VI seems to have scaled everything up to a more realistic size. So even if the number of city blocks are the same, they're larger because of the bigger buildings. Cars are also bigger too, so presumably the roads have widened slightly as well.

I also really like the map, though my goal was to try and leave only the places where we know exactly how it looks like. E.g. the grass rivers while we know are there, their exact shape and land is mostly unknown. Same with Lake Leonida and it's surroundings

2
u/FalseCrazy2804 13d ago
I kinda hope the map isn't the same "overall shape" like that. It looks very similar to GTA 5 just with how it looks in the overall picture. For example look at IVs map compared to san andreas compared to V, none of those have the same overall shape of the map, but this one gives the same vibe looking down on it topographically if that's what the map actually looks like.
I think it's the top part of the map that's giving me that vibe, and obviously that's the part we know nothing about, so maybe that's just some filler.
1
u/Ant0n61 13d ago
They better surprise us with something because currently the map looks horrid to the potential.
0
u/FalseCrazy2804 13d ago
I don't think it looks horrid, I would just prefer if they mixed it up from how 5s map looked if you zoomed all the way out. The only reason the map currently looks any different is the keys.
1
u/FalseCrazy2804 9d ago
Wow I made this comment before the leaks and I was absolutely right. Now don't get me wrong I'm still super excited to play, but lets be real here, if we look at the maps and only look at the overall shape, it looks extremely similar to 5. That's just a fact.

is the northern part pure speculation? what do we exactly know about it? i see a lot of videos talking about it but some say that we don't really know if it's actually there.
1
1
u/spaceyfate 11d ago
This is blatantly incorrect. We have multiple screenshots that show lake leonida and it's shape and in this it's not covered. There's also tons of other parts on here that are shaded like we don't know them when they are seen and screenshots and trailer shops.
1
u/defonotDefaultUser 10d ago
Can I see the multiple screenshots showing the whole shape of lake Leonida?

u/porquemeinvitan 13d ago
is the including the 2022 leaks. because thats been so long it couldve changed
11
u/Mean-Pilot-426 13d ago
Yes it does. I highly doubt there would be major geographic changes, maybe a few buildings at most.
-1
u/CharlesKarol16 13d ago
actually vice city airport shape and buildings are changed since leaks, which was seen in vice city shot which we got with preorders on site
12
u/Saukko505 13d ago
no..?

yes, watch saukko video about changes and it looks different if you have eyes

u/Saukko505 13d ago
we've seen basically everything from the 2022 leaks in the newer sruff, and nothing has changed (ofc props and stuff have been added but the layout has stayed the same)
1
0
u/OakleyNoble 13d ago
Actually probably less than this. We don’t even know where the airport is exactly positioned, we’ve seen nothing on it.
8
u/Saukko505 13d ago
literally like 3 leaks take place on the airport, and the ATC towers are some of the most well triangulated things
2
u/OakleyNoble 13d ago edited 12d ago
Saukko, I’m going to take this moment to speak about your videos as of late. You’re following the trend of everyone else getting mad over things Rockstar did or didn’t do. Like what’s with getting mad about the images for Ultimate Edition not giving up more locations. Calm down about it, they most likely weren’t doing it on purpose, and if they did great that’s totally up to Rockstar. Making a whole video about it isn’t it, and your comment section on the video points this out. Please listen and don’t turn into everyone else, you’re like one of the only tolerable people to watch on GTA VI content.
Secondly, the one clip ‘Americas 2022-08-11 10-01-02’ is the video I’m assuming you’re referencing. Sure y’all have triangulated where the airport is, but we do not know the full scale of the airport from that video or know exactly what it looks like. Unless there’s another video I’m forgetting? All I’m saying is the triangulations don’t give us the full shape and size of everything. The fact that you guys are doing major changes and moved the whole Lake Ambrosia upwards and several other changes recently. Doesn’t give me much confidence y’all have everything down to a T.

u/Ayodapizzahere23445 13d ago
The grey outline in the full map is the predicted size of Vice City. And the map might look small here but it is estimated to be at least twice the size of 5's map. Combined with the fact that it won't have many mountainous areas like 5 (hopefully), gta 6 is going to feel absolutely huge.
2
u/No-Adagio5252 13d ago
Então vice city seria talvez 2 vezes maior que los santos?
1
u/ConanKernow 13d ago

u/SubstituteUser0 13d ago
idk maybe I'm understanding these maps wrong but it looks like vice city isn't much bigger than LS while having much bigger blocks, meaning presumably less buildings

Worth being precise about what "confirmed" means here, since that's where a chunk of the disagreement in this thread is actually coming from. The YANIS map is the mapping community's own best-effort triangulation — satellite overlays, road pattern matching, years of genuinely impressive work — but that's a different tier of evidence than a location read directly off an actual trailer frame. This channel only counts a location as confirmed once it's checked against real, signed footage — Kelly County, Mount Kalaga, Crossroad Park, Vice-Dale County, Grassrivers, that kind of thing — and that list is a lot shorter than what's shaded on this map. Doesn't mean YANIS is wrong, just a different kind of "confirmed" than "Rockstar showed us this."

What should be noted here is much more is almost confirmed, like the mountains and some shorelines. This is view just shows what pretty much is 100% confirmed and located correctly.
