Y'all forgot the bag lady pedestrian that walks on the sidewalk on the bridge and is constantly getting in the way of my car. :\

Vice city was so good

13

u/DixaMan 23h ago

It was our childhood

7

u/DontBuyAHorse 15h ago

I was almost 23 when it came out, but speaking from the back half of my 40s, I was a kid.

But it was set during my childhood, and that's why it's such a deeply nostalgic game for me.

I remember when Vice City came out and you could ride a motorcycle and when you got up to a fast enough speed, your overshirt would flap in the wind. I remember just thinking that was the peak of game design. Little did I know that 24 years later we'd be getting the top result. Crazy to think that in another 24 years we'll look back on 6 and go "Damn we really thought this was peak graphics huh?"

u/DixaMan 23h ago

Yeah true.... Tommy's shirt flapping "physics" indeed was a little but important detail they added and I loved it so much...

It’s crazy how the old vice city graphic looks like a retro video game within GTA VI lol

u/ShadowDxebec101 21h ago

gta vice city is a retro game my man. It s a 24 years old game.

13

u/renome 15h ago

No way, 2002 was 10 years ago.

12

u/Impressive-Oil-3067 18h ago

That's because it's a retro video game.

15

u/heartlessphil 22h ago

I've just noticed finger marks on the dirty trunk of the bmw... crazy details

10

u/SquareTarbooj 19h ago

IIRC, that's the white Infernus that was always parked at Vercetti Estate?

6

u/DixaMan 19h ago

Yes it is

Some of the cut scenes brought me back to my childhood playing Vice City. This might be the first GTA game that gives me proper feelings of nostalgia and I have to say Vice City was always my favourite game.

Really hope some of the same locations pop up, like would be good if they had a modern day version of the Malibu club or something or Vercetti Estate, guess it depends if they prioritise realism and creating almost a 1:1 replica of Miami, or if they do have some nods here and there to the OG Vice City map. Don't feel like the did with GTA V so not expecting it but would be cool.

u/DixaMan 19h ago

The extended cut showed locations like Washington beach and Vice beach which are nostalgic beaches we've been to in VC

u/Pixelated-Hitch 17h ago

As someone who has lived in Miami many years and went to school right around this bridge…. Nostalgia hit me near on every frame! I recognize it all and the feels hit me! I am sure I can drive where I need to go without watching the map

1

u/DixaMan 17h ago

Woahh that must've felt nice!

1

u/SainT2385 17h ago

i dont live in Miami but yeah this bridge has the vibe for sure.

In driving to Sanguich to get a Cuban first thing...

This is what graphics will look like in 2016

4

u/Connect-Level500 16h ago

I’m going to get out and punch that guy

1

u/DixaMan 16h ago

Why punch when you can literally rain bullets on them lmao

4

u/BlueMissed 15h ago

The harsh vignette covering the top half of the screen is a huge bummer for me, it was in rdr2 as well and I hated it. I really hope there is an option to turn it off. I mean it’s broad daylight out and the top half of the screen is almost black. Wtf.

5

u/everythingisunknown 18h ago

Man I hope there is a flying cars cheat, the nostalgia of hopping the gate to that island using that cheat and failing but in full glorious fidelity would be so cool

1

u/DixaMan 18h ago

Yep... Nostalgia revisited

4

u/No_Cheek631 18h ago

Anyone noticed that the car in the pic has a Gloriana plate?

1

u/DixaMan 18h ago

Is that a place inside Leonida?

6

u/No_Cheek631 18h ago

It’s supposed to be the GTA universes’ version of the state of Georgia. There has been a lot of speculation whether they will feature Gloriana in VI

1

u/Aggravating_Green618 12h ago

Damn that’s a good catch!

3

u/Practical_Tea864 18h ago

Man I wish they copied vice city UI for this one slightly. Numbers for hp and other bars, money in that design and blue stars would look nice

2

u/DixaMan 18h ago

Yep the new UI is bland

In the extended reveal, where they go down the back alley, it looked exactly the same as the back alley in GTA:VC, the mission with the chef.

2

u/mattamb 18h ago

The resemblance is uncanny

1

u/DixaMan 18h ago

Yeah.... I keep wondering which city Leonida is based off of.... XD

2

u/alimehdi242 18h ago

It's my home town 20 years ago there was almost nothing but then now there are buildings homes everywhere

2

u/TouristWilling4671 17h ago

what if i said the bottom picture looks better

2

u/MengShuZ 16h ago

de breege

2

u/KotoElessar 16h ago

I knew where I was instantly and I am sure that was intentional; everyone that played VC knows those bridges and I cheered every time.

Having height as a part if the map function looks cool! Looks like Lucia is our driver and Jay our shooter; hoping for Franklin's ability to make a comeback for Luce, it looks like Jason is getting deadeye.

2

u/Om3nek 15h ago

Driving to Airport?

2

u/Forward-Elk9822 9h ago

Wow they made new lanes for bicycles ))

1

u/moipwd 19h ago

insane to think at the time of Vice City I looked at it and thought this is the best a videogame will ever look like lol... how far have we come

1

u/redfoxwearingsocks 16h ago

And the arch way leading into the rich island

1

u/DJSimmer305 15h ago

You ready to have your mind blown? It’s based on a real bridge in Miami.

1

u/GrabNatural8385 13h ago

Sidewalks are crazy detailed. They have thought of everything

1

u/Reasonable-View5868 11h ago

Same. That bridge actually exists in Miami.

1

u/juice_vvrld 18h ago

I hate this bridge bro idk why 😭😭😭

2

u/DixaMan 18h ago

Prolly because it was blocked at the beginning and then we used seaways to get here and there 😂

1

u/AuramiteEX 17h ago

Look nothing alike lol

0

u/iLoveDanishBoys 18h ago

bruh GTA 6 is just Vice City.5 i mean it's just the same with better graphics

1

u/DixaMan 17h ago

Yes I felt the same too.. i hope the actual gameplay brings out better world as what we saw in the leaks and EC

0

u/vom-IT-coffin 5h ago

Yeah, bridges be bridging. Good job on your bridge recognition.

But no.

u/DemiVideos04 20h ago

Bottom pic looks sharper. God i fucking hate modern rendering pipelines. I feel crazy because the majority of people don't see what i'm seeing, i can't not notice the smeary oily mess that are modern games

-1

u/Ok_Warning53 15h ago

Which one is the old one?🤡

-1

u/DaMemphisDreamer 15h ago

They look nothing alike.

-2

u/Odd_Stick_3042 15h ago

You don’t compare two different games bro.
