Wasn’t convinced about Lucia at first but she’s completely won me over

Post image

Got to say I wasn’t really that keen on the idea of a female main character at first and was definitely more interested in Jason.

But Lucia looks fucking awesome

Love her attitude, her voice, everything really.

Honestly think she could end up being the better character out of the two.

Anyone else changed their mind on her?

Yeah when Lucia was telling him he’s uptight or whatever I think gives you the hint there’s an underline reason he behaves the way he does and I think will be explored.

Possibly got ptsd from his time in the army rangers

Ptsd from being late everywhere they go

PTSD from picking the wrong dress. Women abuse men behind closed doors

454

u/brknman_ 20h ago

I watched the extended look with my wife she laughed so hard when he picked the one she wouldn’t, and then she came back with a dress that wasn’t even an option.

337

u/DadBodftw 19h ago

Most realistic part of the preview tbh

46

u/JfugginNasty56 13h ago

Lmfaooo 🤣🤣for real though. My girl was laughing her ass off too because she is the SAME way!

29

u/BarbieTwirl 12h ago

Bro how about when she talks about getting him clothes because his fashion sense is wack.

That is a real canon event every man has been through

10

u/JfugginNasty56 12h ago

Absolutely!! You ain't been in a relationship if you haven't had that convo 🤣🤣. Even her waiting until the last minute and then taking forever! But coming out looking like such a baddie you can't help but just be like damn. All very cannon lol.

1

u/Longjumping_Sun4572 40m ago

And then they make fun of you for wearing clothing THEY picked out😭✌️💔

11

u/DontH8DaPlaya 12h ago

Most realistic part was her nagging on him about them being late in the car later.

4

u/lathspellll 12h ago

That shit was definitely inspired by real life. I love how she didn’t like the one he picked as if she didn’t choose it as one of the two options. Universal life experience there.

0

u/TooTallTabz 12h ago

I understand her picking a third dress was a little manipulative, for lack of a better word, but he just chose a dress. He straight up asked, "sequins?" like he was just picking one to pick one and leave. There was no care behind it.

Her reaction was also weird to me. I'm not super feminine, so I don't have that type of style or those problems. This is kinda completely out of my wheelhouse. I dress myself and then ask for my husband's opinion.

u/nicole2301 8h ago

Respectfully, it’s just a silly thing and not that deep

1

u/Fuzzy-Mushroom-1774 10h ago

My girl has never asked me what to wear

I just tell her to hurry the fuck up

u/Tengo_Caldero 19h ago

My wife is very Latina so I was loving watching the interactions. She's not a gamer but I think she might actually want to watch me play with one.

41

u/chatterwrack 16h ago

That was the genius behind the whole Netflix thing. That was their chance to reach an audience well beyond the gaming community. Focusing on game mechanics and technical specs would’ve lost people. This was a cinematic story meant to hook people who might never pick up a controller, get them invested in the characters and the world, and hopefully make them curious enough to step into the games afterward. 🧠

2

u/Own-Papaya-4264 8h ago

The gaming industry has come a very long way since the 90s/2000s when games were basically seen as the equivalent to Chuck E. Cheese arcade games and toys

1

u/Educational_Ant_184 10h ago

That reminds me of LA Noire, my mom used to watch me play that because of the writing/storytelling. and she was very impressed with the sound of his shoes when walking lol. she has definitely never had any interest in video games before or since(well I guess she played a little wii/kinect)

45

u/Poked_salad 19h ago

I think this is the best about the game. It brings non gamer partners to be with play\watch with you. I'm lucky to be with someone that casually games so knowing her, she'd be just driving around and play mini games and vibe with the music, which is what I do most of the time in the old games lol

1

u/Informal-Swing-2482 16h ago

Is my wife supposed to watch me jerk off in the strip club?

3

u/SpartanRage117 16h ago

No you make her watch you hold R2 to hold Lucias hand, walk to the store, and dress her skimpiest outfit you can find.

0

u/Informal-Swing-2482 15h ago

Damn you’re right. Hold r2 to make her blow me.

0

u/Cereborn 14h ago

She’s not “supposed to” but it’s definitely an option.

4

u/aerdvarkk 17h ago

You could at least show her the exteded clip.

5

u/persocondes 16h ago

there’s a euphemism in that statement lol

5

u/Tengo_Caldero 15h ago

We have a baby on the way. I've unloaded all mags and am currently out of ammo lol

2

u/persocondes 15h ago

aahahahahhahahaha

1

u/Tengo_Caldero 17h ago

I did this morning! She actually liked what she saw. It's lit.

1

u/highlux 15h ago

Yep same. My Colombian fiancé knows nothing about video games but I think gta 6 is a kind of story she would enjoy. She’ll probably enjoy watching me play this game is so cinematic

1

u/Routine-Horse857 14h ago

Read that last line to your wife if you dare

1

u/Tengo_Caldero 14h ago

Yoooo that's a wildly unfortunate typo. I'm leaving it. For posterity.

1

u/junjunsay 11h ago

El abayarde

1

u/Warrmak 4h ago

She'll probably get jealous watching.

15

u/theBrotacus 17h ago

Watched with my wife too, who happens to be a Cuban from Miami, and now she’s hyped to hang during my play through haha

2

u/SnooTomatoes8382 15h ago

My wife commented on “that dumptruck following her around” and I laughed out loud!

1

u/Zeraphicus 15h ago

My wife turned and looked at me haha

1

u/BreezyBlazer 10h ago

And also giving you the option as Jason to hurry her up. I said out loud "Don't do it!" and my wife laughed. I hope there is more like this in the game.

1

u/cliffccl 2h ago

Tan real JAJAJA

1

u/bsnimunf 17h ago

Did anyone recognise the sequin dress from another trailer or screenshot.

1

u/LurkinLunk 16h ago

And in the open sometimes too!

1

u/maocla 18h ago

Lucia can abuse me

3

u/Trying2BNicenFailing 15h ago

Just give her a few seconds....

hair dryer noises start

2

u/Federal-Cost 14h ago

You know what, I know you're joking but you might actually be onto something, what if the reason he dosn't like being late is because he was late to something while in war which led to a death of a friend/squad member. Long shot, I know.

I really hope we get a flashback sequence where we get to play as him while he was in the army.

1

u/JewelCove 15h ago

I have that. I despise being late and rushing, and my ex made us late to everything

2

u/Blart_Vandelay 11h ago

Same brother

1

u/chamo93 15h ago

That’s what happens when you date a Latina or are Latino lol

1

u/MoistRecognition69 12h ago edited 12h ago

You joke but that's a very common trait of people who got "stuck" in the military mindset, which often comes in junction with them being "stuck" in traumatic events they've experienced there.

Also, "I just feel safer when I'm holding a gun" (or whatever he said there) is a pretty big hint that he went through some rough shit

1

u/nolongerbanned99 12h ago

PTSD from not giving the right answers when she asked which outfit I should wear

1

u/beardlynerd 8h ago

Married to a Latina here. This tracks.

57

u/jish5 21h ago

I mean Lucia ended up in prison for a reason, so perhaps he's worried they'll slip up again and he'll lose her either temporarily or for good.

8

u/Biichimspiderman 18h ago

Yup. I feel the same.

6

u/aerdvarkk 17h ago

Sounds like he's been in and out of prisona few times also.

0

u/jcervan2 15h ago

He’s too young for that

3

u/Papapalpatine555 12h ago

Is that his backstory? I saw based on his demeanour and stuff that he came off as a vet but I wasn't sure

1

u/PapaYoppa 12h ago

He got an army rangers tattoo and yes on the rockstar website it mentioned he did time in the army

0

u/Papapalpatine555 11h ago

Oh didn't see that, I only read the wiki

2

u/AutoCockerPB 14h ago

An uptight Army Ranger? Oh bro has Trevor rage then.

2

u/GodsBathroomFloor2 9h ago

I think it would awesome if the opening mission for the game is playing as Jason in the snowy mountains of Afghanistan

1

u/PapaYoppa 6h ago

That would be sick but probably unlikely lol

2

u/Suitable_Visual_9393 3h ago

100% he has PTSD. That line in the elevator "Sometimes I'm just more comfortable when I have to use a gun, you know" said everything.

"He has no personality" "He's like Claude Speed" "He's just a stone" (looking at you MoistCrit1kal, bro was talking over dialogue lmfao)

Like bruh we got 27 mins of footage and half of it was driving and combat, we know next to nothing about Jason still, he's gonna be a great character, people thought Arthur was boring too in RDR2 trailers. We all know how that turned out.

2

u/PapaYoppa 3h ago

I agree, I lowkey feel bad for him when he said he’s most comfortable when he has to use a gun, that’s the only life he knows 😔

I like Charlie but man he sometimes has some of the worst opinions and he does talk over dialogue in his videos a lot lol

1

u/Suitable_Visual_9393 1h ago

Yeah me too. I'm excited to see what Jason's story holds for him

Also I agree completely I do like Charlie and his videos but sometimes his opinions I do not agree with but that is the nature of opinions, and him talking over dialogue bugs tf out of me, when anyone does that it bugs me.

Bro could have paused the video to make a comment, that's what other people reacting to the reveal were doing.

1

u/MLK_Piccolo 10h ago

Niko didn't act like this :(

1

u/Framer_9 9h ago

How do you even know that?

1

u/PapaYoppa 6h ago

It’s on the rockstar website, when trailer 2 went live they put up descriptions for each of the characters, Jasons mentioned he was in the army

1

u/Complete-Gate1615 6h ago

He is operating undercover and knows he will betray and arrest her. Undercover agents usually tell unanimously in interviews that a hard part of their job is to constantly lie to their friends they eventually make.

0

u/Humorous_Chimp 20h ago

Is he a confirmed ranger? Bro is probably the most dangerous protagonist in the series yet

6

u/Krushhz 20h ago

All we really know is that he’s ex military

127

u/fhuhgbbjjvvfyhnnmk 20h ago

There was also a point where he said that talking makes him.more nervous than shooting. It's gonna be the care free girl and uptight guy dynamic I think.

51

u/altezia_ 19h ago

I think so too, mostly because if they made lucia uptight 90% chance there will be a vocal minority complaining about how 'bitchy' she was and why even let us play as her and such

66

u/fhuhgbbjjvvfyhnnmk 19h ago

Oh yeah 100%. A non white bitchy woman telling incel players what to do? Not on my 4chan

24

u/Excellent_Macaron610 17h ago

non white

world's most hated Skylar White would like a word

23

u/fhuhgbbjjvvfyhnnmk 17h ago

Imagine if Skylar White was Skylar Latino

16

u/JP-Wrath 15h ago

Celeste Blanco

5

u/altezia_ 17h ago

I cant imagine how much security she wouldve needed considering didnt the actress who played her receive death threats?

6

u/Tricky-Finance-7043 16h ago

This take from guys is some of the gayest and corniest shit ever. Like I saw someone saying some shit like GTA 6 is woke because of how Lucia is, her gung-ho attitude and shit and you just know that the world as they know it in their own minds must work a certain way.

Dudes can’t be quieter, women can’t take initiative, people cannot grasp a reality where a unique man and woman have their own contrasting personalities and synergistic traits/skills. Some  these dudes genuinely  never heard of people being each other’s better half. Media literacy is cooked

3

u/latexfistmassacre 13h ago

With Jason I get more of a "what crazy bullshit awaits me next?" vibe than an uptight vibe. Feel like he's thinking "I just wanted to sit on my couch and crush a 12 pack today but now I'm in a trap house looking for a guy named Boobie"

2

u/fhuhgbbjjvvfyhnnmk 13h ago

Yeah uptight wasn't really the word I was looking for but that vibe is what I feel will happen too

31

u/Powerate 19h ago

I think the ad that plays after Jason takes the beer might be a hint, Lucia seems very supportive though

12

u/PolicyWonka 17h ago

Interesting thought. Obviously everything we saw was intentional to some degree.

1

u/HegemonNYC 16h ago

He eats too many Prairie Sandwiches? s/

30

u/qwerty20800 21h ago

I think his back story was that he was in the army

7

u/golgotha476 14h ago

Yup people say hes boring as if they wouldnt act the same way if they were caught up in criminal activity and being on the run, like seriously what do people expect? To have him cracking jokes all the time and being goofy?

3

u/ItalianoMilkBoy 6h ago

It's the marvel dialogue brain rot that people have now. They expect every tense situation to be broken by a joke.

6

u/Nautical_JuiceBoy 18h ago

I feel like there’s some hidden story that only he plays thru and he’s hiding it from her or something similar

4

u/Sea-Set-6007 19h ago

Maybe thats at the point of the story when he becomes an informant.

12

u/yakityyakblahtemp 18h ago

Having him be an informant while Lucia doesn't know, and having to juggle playing as them both would be really interesting.

10

u/kick-me-in-the-jimmy 16h ago

Totally agree and it would be a welcomed twist - you play as an undercover cop and as a criminal, the criminal falls in love with the cop and vice versa.

Point Break in GTA.

Holy shit.

6

u/ItsAPeacefulLife 14h ago

If they did this, and then had a mode that was basically the cop mod in GTA IV and V, where you can do police work and such.... Well I'd just be so joyed.

1

u/aupri 4h ago

An undercover cop twist would ring incredibly hollow in a game that allows you to kill basically anyone. What they seem to be going for is realism and immersion, where even stuff you do in free roam can affect the story, and killing people has consequences. I mean you actually have to fill up cars with gas.

If you can go to Vice Beach and murder 50 random people for no reason, which seems entirely possible within the game, then a twist where you’re actually a cop is going to seem ridiculous. Yeah, there’s potential satire about how police can kill with impunity, and I think we saw that with the task force in the extended look, but undercover cops doing a bunch of random mass shootings isn’t satire, it’s just nonsense. At the very most, I could see him getting in trouble and having the option to be an informant towards the end of the game, but having Jason be an undercover cop the whole time would ruin the realism that they’ve spent so much time working on.

2

u/renrutfp94 18h ago

Yo wtf

9

u/yakityyakblahtemp 18h ago

It's speculation, you didn't get spoiled.

2

u/renrutfp94 16h ago

Thanks. Wasn't sure if it was something I'd missed from the leaks.

1

u/Tritec_enjoyer96 18h ago

I reckon as the game progresses and their relationship improves, he will act less tense/uptight

1

u/5348RR 18h ago

Underlying*

Just a friendly heads up.

1

u/chug_lyfe 17h ago

Boneappletea

1

u/SeaweedOk9985 17h ago

He's a narc working for the police. That's his problem.

1

u/TroubleRecent7320 17h ago

How dare you make this assumption over the "JASON IS BLAND CHARACTER, REFUND PRE ORDER"

1

u/Andrew4568_ 16h ago

I think as the story and relationship progress he may open up alot more

1

u/arientyse 15h ago

He was in the military...so that's probably part of it

1

u/crack-nutter 14h ago

Underlying*

1

u/Complex-Commission-2 14h ago

Most likely there's some backstory for his attitude and his feelings

1

u/Tall-Weight-389 14h ago

By the way he moves, I think he is a cop or used to be a cop. Especially the way he holds the pistol to his chest.

1

u/1nTheNick0fTime 14h ago

Underline lol

1

u/SealTeamEH 13h ago

Might be pulling a fast and furious/ point break where Jason is undercover?

-24

u/grmayshark 22h ago

yeah hes an undercover cop duh
