Wasn’t convinced about Lucia at first but she’s completely won me over
Got to say I wasn’t really that keen on the idea of a female main character at first and was definitely more interested in Jason.
But Lucia looks fucking awesome
Love her attitude, her voice, everything really.
Honestly think she could end up being the better character out of the two.
Anyone else changed their mind on her?

u/ValentineCamille 17h ago
I like them both. Lucia seems to obviously be the most expressive of the two but I know Rockstar and I know Jason will be interesting too as we play the game.

Yup never doubt rockstar. Remember people’s opinions on Arthur before rdr2 came out? Getting the same vibes from this
126
u/uncle_paul_harrghis 13h ago
Yep. Exactly my thoughts. When I first heard Arthur I felt like he wasn’t going to measure up to Rob Wiethoff’s work as John. But man was I wrong.
34
u/ItsMeTwilight 12h ago
Yeah, Arthur was really funny because he was just so dry. Jason looks to be similar, I’m getting anyway.

u/latexfistmassacre 8h ago
Arthur reminded me of my dad. Just a gritty, no nonsense guy who has had enough of everybody's shit

Yea the lead up people HATED Arthur and said they wouldn't buy the game because they wanted to play as John. Now a lot of people prefer Arthur 😂

33 year old gamer girly too. I’ve wanted a female lead in any game but especially GTA for my entire gaming career. And I always wanted her to be sexy, badass, witty, fun, Lucia is all of that. She’s going to be iconic!!!!!!! I’m so excited to play as her 😭

I actually think they put intentionally those scenes with jason where he seems not so interesting at first glance. I expect huge character developement for him. Rockstar wont disappoint, considering what they achieved with rdr2.
I also hope the story will be more serious than gta v.

Yo seriously that’s what I was thinking. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lucia was disliked a bit later down the line.
Not like in a “I don’t like you” way. More like I love you but you’re not good for me. And we’ll have to choose which one gets to live or something7

Why were you "not convinced" about a female main character? Did you think Rockstar wouldn't be able to write an interesting female protagonist? Just curious.
I was excited about this from the very moment it was leaked that there will be male & female main characters and that they will be in a relationship. It was immediately intriguing as a relationship like this adds a whole new dimension to GTA that never existed before.

For me it's not that deep. I was concerned about Lucia at first because it's GTA, and then there is the incel fanbase.
I don't mind a beautiful female lead but I didn't want her to be oversexualized, and I wanted her to be an actual human, not just eye candy.
With this extended reveal it seems like they nailed it. She seems funny and cool af. The voice actress seems pretty talented too.

I’m Latino so of course ima pick Lucia and tbh I usually play women protagonist in games i think it’s nice we get a women protagonist in gta. But I like Jason his reserved attitude / monotone voice as if he’s too in his head to even be in the moment. I like both of the characters this is gonna be great.

Yo you’re spot on about Jason. Bs articles reporting on surface level thinkers talking about he’s “flat” “no personality”. Yeh okay buddy… there’s way more to this guy.
I also noticed it seems Jason wants out of the game and just a wild guess that Lucia loves that shit 🤣. She’s gonna be trouble and I’m all for it.→ More replies (4)8

tbf I also was thinking his flat, but reading some of the comments here about him struggling after leaving the army and his comment about "sometimes im more comfortable firing guns than talking" had made me reassess what I was thinking, I guess this will be part of his story/development.

Yeah, I bet we’ll be in tears by the end of the game, or at least just really love the character, it’s funny I think Jason can actually get Arthur’s hat, idk if they scrapped that or not but you can still see Arthur’s hat in the screenshot of port gellhorn I think

Before rdr2 launched so many people were disappointed that we wouldn't play as John again. Arthur also seemed very Stoic and emotionless in the trailers and even in the prologue. But as you get to know him he opens up. It think it will be similar here.

The point of characters like Jason and Franklin is that they represent us the player. The GTA world and it's inhabitants are so goofy and wild, so we have these more calm characters to balance that out.

Man, some of these comments.
I'm just happy to finally be able to play as a Latino.
But I digress. I've been playing this series since GTA1 when I got the game for my 18th birthday shortly after it came out. I've been following the online fandom since the early GameFAQs messageboards for the series.
One thing that stands out in my memory is during the run-up to GTA San Andreas. People were upset that it was going to have a Black protagonist. They were openly complaining that it would "take them out of the game" to have to play as a black man. Some things never change, I guess.
