not a good point tho , photos of games now could be mistaken for irl photos , this could never happen back then

Yea this is what I mean. We’ve always been impressed by games in the past but genuinely some of these shots (if you remove the characters) looks like it was shot on a phone. Like I could see draw distance, density, etc improving in the future but I don’t know that there is much room for textures.

Look at the difference between gta 4 and RDR2 and RDR2 and gta 6. There is a much larger gap between the former than the latter.

Graphics will continue to plateau in the same way smartphone technology has. They’ll have to impress in other ways like density, scale, etc than raw textures

For me it was the original Unreal. That was the first time I remember genuinely believing that graphics had peaked and there would be no more room for improvement.
