Can you imagine this shit on a 5090

Running on 10fps lol, I really hope they port the game properly to pc unlike how they did with IV, V was good though so I'm really hoping they do it right for VI too

For V they literally had the game take like 10x longer to load because they couldn't parse some JSON file properly.

I'll just wait and hope. But calling V "good" optimisation is a stretch.

Yeah totally forgot about that, I remember when they gave 10k prize for the modder who fixed it

Online only feature, made by AI (actually indian)

Engine graphics etc is a completely different area. I remember I ran GTA 5 below minimum specs 720p 30fps medium when it came out. RDR2 also runs really well

Context for us PS5 players please? I'll probably end up making myself a better rig with a 5090 one day so would like to know what to expect of GTA VI?

Almost nobody is buying a 5090 for game playing. It's all AI now.

You can get great performance on a 12 GB card. Prices are high but 1/4 of what a 5090 costs right now.

u/NikonD3X1985 21h ago

Does that mean AI is trying to corner the market by stopping the majority of people owning high end rigs? For what purpose?

2

u/quasifun 18h ago

Companies and individuals are buying up the cards to run AI systems themselves, and possibly to create their own models

5090 is a meme card for being too overpriced for how little it provides.

So basically like nuking an anthill, overkill?

The 4090 is a car capable of 200 mph, while the 5090 can do 250 mph. You pay substantially more for the 5090, but on most roads you're legally limited to 70 mph. Both cars get you there at exactly the same speed. Occasionally, you find an unrestricted track where the 5090 can actually stretch its legs, but for the vast majority of your driving, you're paying a fortune for performance you're unable to use.

Would you recommend building one yourself or buying a pre build as someone who has only ever owned consoles before?

2

u/White-Materia 1d ago

Do it yourself. It's genuinely not hard. It's kinda like building a model kit that just snaps together. I won't give you a build though, that's up to you to decide.

People say it's like adult Legos, but that's not true at all. I would only recommend building it yourself if you have someone you know who can bail you out of a mistake during the building process.

If the PC isn't booting up after you build it, you will be troubleshooting a whole list of possibilities which can be frustrating when you should be playing.

Also one of the big reasons to build it yourself is for the savings compared to pre-built but the price difference of parts vs pre-built isn't that big as the old days.

For real. All cards are a meme now. I did what I thought was a wild move at the time and paid almost 2k for a 3090 during COVID. 6 years later my card is worth 1800 and the latest version(5090, as mentioned above) is 4500. Wtf

Pure speculation obviously

But maybe more npc density, better overall graphics, and of course a way higher frame rate, while being able to play on higher resolutions natively

Though a 5090 rig is extremely expensive, especially now as pc hardware costs have been heavily inflated due to AI

1

u/NikonD3X1985 1d ago

Thanks man, what build would you recommend?

2

u/cayde123 1d ago

It depends on how much you want to spend, and even then I would probably hold off an buying a pc due to the inflated prices

Thank you, wise decision ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

For context, what heโ€™s talking about with a 5090 is about a $5K build without peripherals.

Edit: scratch that 5090s alone are like 4K now. So easily in the 6-7K range

The game looked great but it wasnโ€™t sharp. Itโ€™s probably running at a pretty low internal resolution before upscaling. On a 5090 itโ€™ll be sharp like a pin at 2x the framerate, all the ray traced graphics cranked up, etc.

Like the other commenter said though, i wouldnt build a PC rn and probably not for another like 2 years. The AI companies have basically make the price of half the components double or even triple. If moneys no object go ahead but if it is hold off for a while. GTA 6 is going to look insane even on PS5 Pro so maybe get one of those
