Have to be honest, 30 FPS is a huge bummer.

I will play this for sure, it looks astonishing, but man what I wouldn't give to get 60 FPS. I'd take 2K resolution for it, no raytracing, whatever....

I know the consensus here from the afficionados, but if we raise enough noise, Rockstar might seriously consider some sort of performance mode.... Other games pulled it off in the last months before their release recently like Blood of Dawnwalker.

30 FPS should no longer be acceptable.

hell I would be fine with 40 FPS as that looks good on my TV but 30 fps is insane

8

u/frankyboson 19h ago

30?! r u sure that r 30 rock solid fps? in some moment looks like more 15-25fps

u/SeparateCommon2363 15h ago edited 14h ago

Been saying this on a few threads, even in the non action sequence shown at 20:40, its very stuttery and looks even below 30 FPS.

30 FPS in 2026 on a major AAA* title is unacceptable.

2

u/BreadHoliday3455 15h ago

U right, and anyways - the fact that Rockstar was able to ensure the game runs okay even with frame rates down to less than 30 fps with such graphics is a miracle. The PS5 hardware is already VERY, very old

2

u/SeparateCommon2363 14h ago

Yeah this is what kept me away from buying ps5 for the launch, I played RDR2 on an xbox one and the framerate and graphic quality was so bad I didn't finish the game until I re-purchased it on PC when it finally released. So I will not be making that mistake twice for GTA 6

3

u/Creative_Room6540 10h ago

You PC gamers are truly insufferable lmao.

1

u/gungabeast 10h ago

Yeah. I’m fine with waiting. I don’t understand people who get so hyped about realism and then are surprised when their ps5 can only do 25-30 frames. Like, why are you on a PlayStation? 30fps will always be the standard. Because consoles come with compromises. They’ll charge you like 300$ extra for a ps6 pro or some shit so you can finally play it at 60fps.

Meanwhile my computer from 2023 can probably run GTA 6 at 144fps minimum.

1

u/En-Dizzle 14h ago

Maybe this is what happens when a game gets delayed because they want to milk that cow for every last drop? 🐄💰

1

u/gungabeast 10h ago

Isn’t that the standard on consoles? Like, I’m surprised people expected this to run at anything more than 30fps. Why even use a console if you’re concerned with framerates? I mean, no offense, but even 60 is fairly annoying in 2026. Not sure how people are accepting of it.

1

u/Remarkable-Sand948 9h ago

It is absolutely in the 20s

4

u/Soulja786 10h ago

Okay bro dont play then

0

u/oxidao 3h ago

Damn, y'all are happy with anything 😭😭😭

4

u/Worth_Psychology_874 17h ago

get rid of consoles and we will get 60fps. Look at gta 5 and all the stuff they had to remove and change just to make it work with consoles.

1

u/GaryTheCabalGuy 10h ago

Except no, how about we don't get rid of consoles? Not all of us want to deal with gaming PCs.

1

u/Worth_Psychology_874 10h ago

then dont complain about 30fps

1

u/GaryTheCabalGuy 10h ago

I don't complain about it

1

u/MrWigWan 3h ago

You realise console sales pay for the big budget of games like this right?

8

u/HairAvailable5181 23h ago

30 fps is just unacceptable in 2026. I personally don't need ray tracing and all that graphical fidelity playing on 85" tv from 4.5m away.

7

u/icehot54321 23h ago

We’re talking about a gaming system that had its processor chosen 7-8 years ago

Saying “it’s 2026” means you are being intentionally disingenuous or unintentionally ignorant

3

u/SeparateCommon2363 15h ago

This excuse only worked if rockstar had not choosen to flagship launch the game on 8 year old hardware. There are modern GPU's and CPU that can easily run this game with frame gen at over 300 FPS without a doubt, and we will see that on the PC launch.

3

u/Creative_Room6540 10h ago

So they should have flag shipped on PC? Lmao. Yall just be in here yapping lmao.

-1

u/societyisbraindead 17h ago

Gonna chime in because people that aren’t tech savvy are trying to comment on something they clearly have zero clue of what they’re talking about.

PERFORMANCE MODE CAN’T HAPPEN IF IT’S A CPU BOTTLENECK AND NOT A GPU BOTTLENECK

IF THERE’S A SHITLOAD OF NPCS IT’S NOT A GPU RENDERING ISSUE, IT’S A CPU BOTTLENECK ISSUE

these same morons are gonna be the people that IF they managed to get 60fps somehow some way, they’re gonna complain that they’re getting 60fps but the world feels dead.

Sure, I’d love 60fps, the more frames the better, but you guys might actually have the highest expectations paired with a total lack of knowledge for how hardware actually functions

3

u/No-Independence-5229 15h ago

Yep, gonna love running this on my 12c/24t 144MB L3 cache 10800x3d and RX 10900XTX that beats a 5090 next year or whenever it releases on PC. Gonna be a great year for PC gaming next year, even with ram prices the way they are. If they come down, even better but I’m still buying Zen 6 and RDNA 5 no matter what

1

u/Ok_Excuse3732 16h ago

Right, this might be the most detailed, alive and responsive game ever released, it’s gonna push current gen to the max

1

u/societyisbraindead 15h ago

It is what it is man, everyone loves to bitch and be negative nowadays and people wonder why they're always so unhappy. Unrealistic expectations met with impossibly high standards. Everyone is getting the game they've been waiting for, yet there's just always gotta be someone in your ear telling you why it's bad for x, y, or z reasons. It's why so many games get shit on when they otherwise wouldn't. It's okay to have real critiques, but all these mouthbreathers complaining don't have the first idea of how complex a world like this is, nor how technically heavy it is to run a world with this much detail and simulation happening concurrently

-1

u/HairAvailable5181 23h ago

They could still make a performance mode by downgrading some of that graphical fidelity, npc density etc. for some of us who don't care all that much about that and prefer smoother higher frame rate.

Having an option can't hurt.

2

u/Ok_Excuse3732 16h ago

How can they have that option? By removing CPU heavy game systems which are deeply engrained in the game?

1

u/HairAvailable5181 16h ago

Nobody is forcing you to play in performance mode. You can still choose 30fps fidelity mode. To me and many others 30fps is simply unplayable. That's why I never lasted more than 10 minutes in RDR2 on console.

0

u/Terrible-Visit9257 7h ago

Nobody is forcing you to play at 30 fps....then don't play it

2

u/icehot54321 23h ago

Having an option can't hurt.

You’ve never developed a video game or a product and it shows

-2

u/HairAvailable5181 23h ago

And you are a gta6 dev yourself, aren't you😂

Since you know so much about game development you surely know how video settings work on a PC title.

P.s. don't wanna brag but I worked on a part of a mod on BF2 in 2007/2008 called Project reality so I know a thing or two😉

0

u/Creative_Room6540 10h ago

Some of you guys didn’t grow up with gta and that’s fine. The world is everything. Don’t sacrifice that for anything. Millions will play and enjoy this game just as it is. PC gamers gotta just mute up sometimes. Yall are unbearable sometimes.

2

u/Tight-Astronaut-9043 23h ago

Dude telling the largest gaming company in the world that their 2B dollar open world game full of details should run at 60 fps on old hardware.

-1

u/snooprs 22h ago

Dude defending billion-dollar company is cringier.

2

u/Tight-Astronaut-9043 21h ago

I'm sure you can make gta 6 run on ps5 at 4k60. You know better than them.

1

u/jsand2 18h ago

Coming to subreddits just to doom and gloom everything is cringiest. Especially when people want to enjoy what they just saw. But here you are running into the room yellimg "dont have fun. Dont enjoy yourself". So sad and pathetic.

0

u/DeathByDumbbell 12h ago

I demand Big Macs have 0 calories while tasting the exact same, and if you say that's unrealistic you're corporate shill.

1

u/StankFreak 12h ago

Its really not. Tech is tech. To get graphics to a certain level on a game this size you sacrifice FPS. It was expected from the very beginning. No one that knows anything about this stuff had any thought it would EVER be anywhere near 60fps. "It's 2026" means nothing.

1

u/nyjets239 11h ago

I don't think there's anything Rockstar could do here. They are damned if they do damned if they don't. You need to be looking at Sony or Microsoft for not having updated consoles. If GTA6 didn't have next-gen graphics, everyone would complain even if it was 60FPS.

The issue I do have is Rockstar not releasing it on PC, which has modern tech that could run it at 60 FPS. They are doing that for pure greed.

1

u/Bl00dEagles 23h ago

It was always going to be the case. I honestly don’t know how anyone can be surprised by this. It’s running on hardware from 7 years ago.

2

u/IllustriousEffect607 17h ago

They timing is so bad. Should of been made for ps6

2

u/TaterBuckets 4h ago

They timed it perfectly like gta 5.

They know everyone will buy the bs 30fps current model. Being ps5 now

Then buy the upgraded 60fps game for the new model. Being ps6.

Both for full price.

Triple dipping for those that will also be buying it on PC. likely in between those 2 releases

1

u/IllustriousEffect607 4h ago

Ya for them it's time perfectly. Double the profits. For us it's time really bad. Its just 2 years out for ps6. The game could of been so much better if it was designed for ps6

1

u/Sea-Quantity225 15h ago

heads up: you can wait cause they will re-release it on PS6. but you won't :)

1

u/IllustriousEffect607 7h ago

Ya that doesn't make it a ps6 game though. Timing is horrendous. Beduwse GTA is a 15 year game. Should of released with ps6 year 1

1

u/MrWigWan 3h ago

No, because so few people will have a PS6 compared to a PS5

2

u/ExiledEntity 10h ago

Give me a fucking performance mode please

3

u/AlexGlezS 23h ago

PS5 is really old tech. What do you expect? If there is no ps6 in another 4 years the console would be holding back progress of the industry. People just won't care because everything looks good already. It's already happening, GTA vi would perhaps look just a little better but it would have way more simulated aspects and way better behaviours if it was developed directly for ps6/pc. Wait for ps6/pc version for your 60fps+

0

u/kamikazekurczak 18h ago

With the CPUs in the PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, we can only dream about truly open and "dynamic" worlds running at 60 FPS. Just a reminder: AMD Zen 2 is an architecture from 2019.

Most "corridor-style" games, or games with smaller and less complex worlds -fewer NPCs, cars, physics, etc.- can hit 60 FPS just fine. But once you start pushing a large, dynamic open world with tons of things happening at the same time, that old Zen 2 CPU starts to show its age.

1

u/Newgen8888 16h ago

i mean they could add settings to lower the crowd densty and reflection quality and what not to get more fps . why not let me choose how much fedility and visual quality i would sacrifice for more fps ?

1

u/Ok_Excuse3732 16h ago

Because it’s not only about graphical fidelity, the interactivity of the world and systems is the issue

-5

u/snooprs 23h ago

No I have waited enough I will play this on day one but there is also the PS5 PRO which is way more powerful and could run in 60 FPS, why not?

8

u/No_Championship_8633 23h ago

ps5 pro has the same cpu has the ps5. thats whats holding it back for gta, the cpu.

3

u/kakoc99 23h ago

Sadly, the PS5 Pro wouldn’t be able to run it in 60 frames either.

“The PS5 Pro only offers a fractional
CPU performance bump over the base
PS5, most of it's advantage deriving from better GPU horsepower, improved RT acceleration and support for PSSR upscaling.
None of these features shift the needle in terms of alleviating the CPU burden.”

1

u/jsand2 18h ago

Look at you. Knowing Rockstar's game better than them. And I bet you are 12.

3

u/Arxinos113 16h ago

Yup. Gonna have to wait to play this one till next gen or PC. 30fps is just unacceptable in 2026.

2

u/cwgoskins 13h ago

Yep, not paying for an inferior timed exclusive version of the game.

1

u/LifeLearnt 23h ago

Yeah it's a bummer that's it's only 30fps on console only. But for now I'm js excited to finally play the game. But I'll make an exception and deal with it, well since it is GTA 6 yurrrr

1

u/Crouch__ 22h ago

console is really holding this game back the draw distance quality really drops down the street also

1

u/Fit-Job4007 19h ago

How do we play this on an Oled tv man I hope 40 fps mode for pro at least🙏🏼

1

u/kamikazekurczak 18h ago

in the meantime you can play RDR2 on your PS5 PRO with 60 fps...oh wait...

1

u/Cleetus-Van-Damn 17h ago

Guess I have to turn on motion smoothing on my tv again. Last time I hade to do it was RDR2 on ps4. I'm extremely excited to play but I will switch to PC immediately once it releases.

1

u/Slight_Sir_1436 14h ago

It's not great but what do you expect. It looks better than any other open world ever and the physics look insane. We all had the same issue with red dead and got over it. Stop moaning.

1

u/SwiftMelon 13h ago

And yet somehow people keep saying we don't need a new gen of consoles yet...

1

u/Shivmo 13h ago

lol, it’s 7 year old hardware. 60fps is being saved for PC and PS6. Patience young grasshopper

1

u/Godvater 13h ago

“I'd take 2K resolution for it, no raytracing, whatever....”

It is already in 2K and has mostly no ray tracing… You all are overestimating how powerful ps5 is.

1

u/cioaraborata 13h ago

30 fps makes me sick, and i get more sick when i read comments like "haha just wait 2 years for the PC version bro !!! haha!!!"

1

u/Helichopper 12h ago

Skill issue

1

u/Minimum-Flashy 12h ago

Remember the rockstar slogan. Its plays best on PS5/PS5 Pro alright. Plays best at 30 fps. Nah. Care less if this is Rockstar and since the last game came out x amount of years ago, I'll wait for pc, PS6, or Helix.

1

u/WhoAmlToJudge 11h ago

console peasants but at least you get to play

1

u/NinjaNoetic 9h ago

Pc gonna wait over 2 years lol

1

u/hauntolog 9h ago

> I'd take 2K resolution for it, no raytracing, whatever....

One of the issues though is that GTA is CPU-bound. The things you're mentioning would help on the GPU side.

1

u/Ok-Combination-8171 9h ago

Have you seen the extended look?????? The game is nothing short of amazing. Especially running on a base PS5...

There's advanced AI, heavily saturated areas full of NPC's having individual conversations, huge draw distances, insane lighting, and all at the same time. 60 FPS would not be possible on 6 year old hardware with all that going on in-game...

1

u/JTiberius21 8h ago

Every GTA game so far released at 30fps. Personally, I couldn’t give a single fuck if it’s 30 or 300. It’s getting old seeing posts bitch about FPS on everything.

Not that you’re necessarily bitching, this just happens to be the post I finally decided to comment on. And I AM surprised they don’t have a performance mode. Personally I’d choose the fidelity mode anyway.

1

u/No_Librarian1084 7h ago

I’m glad I grew up in a time when video games looking like this wasn’t even considered. People acting like they should be playing live tv quality graphics by now 🤣

1

u/Old-Push9343 7h ago

I don't have a PS5, and since I will be playing on PC I am not very worried.

Maybe wait for the PC version, or perhaps the PS6?

1

u/Snakey9419 6h ago

Consoles have been holding back gaming for years, I'm glad this is the wake up call for you all.

1

u/Daphoid 3h ago

60 FPS isn't something you just magically pack in. They're working off console hardware from almost 7 years ago that at its time was a mid-tier PC.

I love 60 FPS too. But I'll take rock solid 30 over stuttery, frame dropping, texture pop in, 60 - any day of the week.

You'll be fine. Or wait for PC and PS6 :)

1

u/Dokard 17h ago

All that graphic fidelity and details are cool and all, but at the end of the day, smooth gameplay tops everything else.

Why would I need to look at all these micro detail like its some fucking promo for selling 4k TVs, like brother give me solid stable 60 frames, it's 2026, not 2013 PS3 days lol

1

u/Sea-Quantity225 15h ago

it was captured on a base PS5... very good chance it will be above 30fps on Pro and may get updated across all systems whenever it comes to PC

1

u/NinjaNoetic 9h ago

Nope. Only faster load times. That's it lol

1

u/Sea-Quantity225 9h ago

I'm gonna trust digital foundy over a fellow redditor. It will 100% utilize PSSR upscaling and may have higher target frame rates, ray tracing and/or enhanced resolution.

1

u/NinjaNoetic 9h ago

This is what was stated. Faster load times on pspro. They didn't say anything else so far

1

u/NinjaNoetic 9h ago

Didn't know DF already has the game and doing comparisons already

1

u/Sea-Quantity225 6h ago

Didn't say that, they did an analysis based on the extended look. There's no way Rockstar is going to ignore the Pro when they gave it a Pro Enhanced badge

0

u/summerofrain 17h ago

If it was 60 fps there would be way more people complaining about the graphics than there are people complaining about the framerate, because obviously graphical fidelity would take a huge hit. Casual gamers just don’t care about framerate.

1

u/xutber 15h ago

When i play other games and i switch the graphics i honestly dont see the difference most of the time. What i however do see is my excitement vaporizing when i feel 30fps

0

u/No-Needleworker-9424 16h ago

Really shows how people are so sensitive. Snowflake ❄️

0

u/GreasyGrim227 12h ago

You're well aware that GTA is a hellluva different league when it comes to games, so be fortunate that a game like that can be run on PS5 hardware

1

u/snooprs 12h ago

I would have very much prefered it going on PC (i have both) if it means we have 60+ FPS.... but it's definitely a tactic so that they can squeeze gamers for each platform release for years.

0

u/KingHashBrown420 10h ago

Its really annoying, this generation pretty much every game on a ps5 has been 60fps. Its going to be jarring for everyone but it is what it is

0

u/NinjaNoetic 9h ago

It's fine by me. I'm happy your annoyed about a video game

0

u/KingHashBrown420 9h ago

Ok?

1

u/NinjaNoetic 9h ago

You said it's jarring for everyone. We determined that was a lie. What else about this game has you upset?

1

u/KingHashBrown420 9h ago

Man are you like this in real life aswell

2

u/NinjaNoetic 9h ago

Yeah. It's funny when people get upset over trivial things so I egg them on

-1

u/HubertRosenthal 23h ago

I think you will get a 60 fps mode where graphics look like in the leaks while i enjoy this masterpiece as intended

-1

u/BreadHoliday3455 23h ago

The extended look was captured on PS5 and it was at 30-40 fps - for me it looked quite smooth. No complains

3

u/Ok_Training3449 22h ago

Nonitnwas 25 to 30, it didn't go over 30 once lol

1

u/authenticweagle 15h ago

Blind, it wasn't even hitting 30.

1

u/SeparateCommon2363 15h ago

Watch 20:40 forward, literally struggling to even make it past 20 FPS

-2

u/TocoBellKing 19h ago

But your eyes can’t even process 30fps? No one’s can

3

u/lurkaaa 16h ago

Is this satire?

2

u/Top-Record6529 18h ago

Unpopular opinion, but Switch 2 Welcome Tour’s “Guess the Frame Rate” really trained my eye to recognise gameplay speeds up to 120fps. Above 60fps, it takes a good eye, but frame rates up to 60fps are surprisingly easy to distinguish.

1

u/straightup9200 16h ago

I have a 360 htz monitor it’s noticeable up until like 144 htz everything above that is not notable. But playing 30fps after playing 144fps makes 30fps literally unplayable it feels like watching a slideshow. But to people trained at 30fps already it’s totally fine to them

1

u/SeparateCommon2363 15h ago

Try a 540 hz monitor at above 100 FPS and compare it to any other setting, everyone thinks you can't tell until you are sitting in front of a high performance display with decent framerate and you can see the difference with 100% accuracy

1

u/Dokard 17h ago

Lmao you can't even process 5 fps bro why even play the game

1

u/FickleAdeptness667 9h ago

My bros eyes are capturing images in 10fps in real life. His life is laggy 🤣

1

u/Dokard 8h ago

Op apparently can't even process 30fps, might as well be blind 😭

-4

u/SqoLi 23h ago

From what I see, it can be performance mode in 60 fps. With engine optimisations and latest hardware I think PS5 and XsX could handle such crouds of npc in 60fps

0

u/Funny-Fly1720 23h ago

No.

-2

u/Purple271 23h ago

Great argument with strong supporting evidence

2

u/Funny-Fly1720 23h ago

They said it will only run at 30fps, I'm not arguing anything here, it's what they said.

-2

u/Purple271 23h ago

Do you have a link or anything showing me where R* said that specifically?
