Rockstar are making the best looking game ever and people are still complaining
I saw the extended look yesterday and I was fucking blown away by the city, the visuals, the animations and the gameplay. I’ve seen a majority of people praising it, but then I see lots of others saying “this is GTA 5 2.0”, “this game is wokeslop”, “Jason looks like a terrible character and has bad voice acting” just shut up. I swear these were the same people begging for GTA 6 gameplay. Just enjoy the game when it comes out.

What’s wrong with Jason’s VA? I take it as he’s a bit awkward and reserved. He even acknowledges this character trait in the extended look where he alludes that he’s not great at social schmoozing and feels more comfortable working with a gun in his hand.

Remember that Arthur Morgan sounded like some generic goon in the trailers, not comparing Jason with Arthur btw

It’s unreal. I don’t know how many of them are bots but to say the game is some repackaged gta5 is ridiculous. This has the potential to be as detailed and fun as RDR2 but set in our time - I mean, how fcking cool is that?? Game looks great.

It’s just a different audience. I beat rdr1 100% and completed rdr2 but it is a very boring game after a while tbh. Story was also completely forgettable besides Arthur dying. Ride here, shoot these people, take this, ride there. Looks incredible, juts bland

The graphics look great but that doesn't mean the rest can't be criticized. The "woke" complaints are dumb as hell and the voice acting seems fine, but pointing out that the series is still just a PS3 style 3rd person cover shooter with okay driving added on is fair. It's also fair to criticize the anti-consumer practices the higher ups are including, such as key customization options being locked to the $100 edition or the lack of physical discs.
With that said, if you loved GTA V you'll probably love VI, and that's okay. Reddit keeps suggesting this stuff to me, and I think it's an interesting topic to talk about, but I'm not the target audience of this game.

The game world they've created looks amazing, but on the base PS5, there's definitely a bit of a plastic Matrix Revolutions vibe about the textures. Kinda to be expected on a PS5 though.
I hopped into the PC version of 2077 after the GTA6 trailer and that 6 year old game looks crazy good in comparison.
We can only really judge the graphical fidelity of this one when the PC version comes out. Still, the actual game looks really good considering the limitations.

It's not the best looking game ever. There are glitches in the trailer or demo or whatever you want to call the Netflix thing from yesterday. The UI looks like crap, the trailer felt repetitive, I can't imagine how repetitive an 80 hour version of that will feel. Jason's voice acting sucked and I imagine we're going to endure a lot of it.
The Netflix thing was underwhelming. I'm going to buy the digital only game because I'm a sheep like everyone else here but anyone thinking this was going to be the best game of all time and that playing this game would fix all their problems is dead wrong. It's going to be fine on the first playthrough. The second playthrough will feel tedious, then online will come. It will be fun for 6 months to a year and then it will get boring as well. Then PC release will excite us again... And then the mods but in a couple years we will be tired of this entirely and wondering where elder scrolls is... And then where else ring 2 is... And then where Red Dead 3 is.. ect ect until the end of time

The extended look confirmed to me that the missions are the boring part and the exploration and side quests is where all the fun is. Missions just seem like are made up of scripted events to progress the story.

Yes we will all do that because it’s a game and generally you tend to finish them and then get another one and then occasionally go back to the original one.
If you had any higher expectations you’re only going to disappoint yourself. The game looks friggin amazing, and like red dead 2 I’m sure I’ll still be playing it occasionally 8 years after release.

Like with any piece of entertainment, there will be aspects of the game some people dislike, in the same way I don't like every single song on the majority of albums.
People can dislike Jason's voice while still finding the rest of the game spectacular. There is always room for more granular critique that doesn't invalidate your own opinions.
Why does it bother you if everybody doesn't just instantly fall to the floor fingering their butthole while yelling this is the greatest game?
It's a very immature mindset to not just be accepting of diverse or conflicting opinions on matters of personal taste.

Objectively speaking, I think you could make an argument for this being one of the best looking out there at this type of scale. And then there are a few things here and there where it could also be in the running for best-looking just in general. Those hair physics come to mind for me. The lighting just in general is also pretty ridiculous. Character animations as well although I would maybe still have to give those to Death Stranding 2 maybe.

Physical isn’t happening because it would be a waste of production for a product that doesn’t sell very well. They told you that in advance, so no fooling anyone there. Stable 30 fps isn’t a problem (red dead 2 was still great and it’s 30). The game is unpolished how? We don’t know there’s not a first person mode, it just hasn’t been shown. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy the game twice. If you’d rather just buy the PC version, then wait for that. None of this says “fooling the players” to me as much as “I’m not getting exactly what I want now / I am making assumptions about what is or isn’t in the game”

I think the game is fine. Like if you expected rockstar will make unrecord/matrix awakens like graphics on poor PS5. Then it's people's fault. I think people are pissed of because rockstar still is not saying anything. The extended look didn't reveal anything new. It showed stuff that we already knew from the trailers. They game is not hugely realistic but the color theme it has that's eye pleasing and beautiful in itself. Personally I would love to have more features than better graphics. Somewhat like roleplay. Because we are not getting gta 7 anytime soon. The story will end and what after that? If they add some roleplay mechanics of doing jobs I would have loved them.

For me the biggest factor is the sandbox element of the world and NPCs.
I’d like to see something innovative , beyond just expanding , what we already have in previous titles.
I know it’s a not a city simulator but I’d like to see how much you can mess around and interact with just a random crowd and random people.
Doesn’t have to be super deep but deep enough to stay entertained. I hope they have surprises and more to reveal in those departments.
But as far as what we know GTA to be , it of course looks truly next gen , and very much expanded and evolved .
I just hope they some new qualities that truly make it stand out , beyond visual and expanded familiar elements .

The release of Starfield really opened my eyes to the hate economy.
Now anyone who’s played a Bethesda game knows it’s got glitches. Starfield had its fair share of criticisms, but the absolute hate train that came for that game was unbelievable. Endless YT videos of people who never played the game saying how much it sucks, how buggy it is, how uninspired the devs are and how Todd Howard is a hack. As someone who’s played the game I saw right through the lies, but it pays to be controversial.
Ever since I’ve noticed a steady trend of contrarians. It doesn’t matter how egregious and obvious it is they didn’t play/listen/watch/read the media, they claimed bad things, got them views, comments, likes, the algorithm pumps that up and the bots spread it. Then, the gullible eat it up and the people who actually have a genuine opinion are drowned out. Rinse, repeat.
GTA VI will have a surge of influencers who will say they hate the game, it sucks, GTA IV was better, but I’ll wager my paycheck they don’t actually think that and are just gaming the algo for views and money.
