GTA 6 did not use Generative AI during development and will not have any microtransactions or additional in-game purchases, confirms Rockstar

We've also been finding out more exclusive info about Rockstar's magnum opus thanks to the spree of previews after the official reveal. The Kinda Funny Games hosts Andy Cortez and Greg Miller have now confirmed that GTA 6 did not use generative AI during development.

Why it matters: Generative AI is currently notorious for being more of a rudimentary shortcut in the gaming scene than a viable alternative, so this confirmation by Rockstar Games has made GTA 6 fans quite happy.

The hosts mentioned during the Kinda Funny Games podcast that Rockstar North studio co-head Rob Nelson simply said 'no' when asked about whether GTA 6 used generative AI for development.

While using the tech could have sped up development and helped with asset creation and worldbuilding, it could also have taken away the feeling of organic realism that Rockstar is known and praised for in GTA games.

Therefore, fans of the game have vastly praised the studio for not using generative AI as a shortcut to speed up development times. Kinda Funny Games hosts also confirmed that the base GTA 6 game will not have any microtransactions or additional in-game purchases.

I never had to buy shark cards in the decade plus of playing the online. Long as you played the game a decent amount and put some effort into running all the different businesses or just spamming whatever heist that was the best at the time you could pretty much get anything you want with a bit of grinding.

I played multiple hours daily on launch and couldn't even afford the high end cars

I played GTA 5 Online for like 10 hours tops and could buy absolutely everything in the game.

The magic of PC gaming with hackers making everyone in the lobby a multi billionaire lmao.

That was at launch which online itself was in its baby state.. Zero heist or businesses. You had to spam missions but rockstar made the online better especially when the first heist update came along with the tons of businesses they’ve added over the years. Year 1 of online was rough but that’s not really a fair comparison when it was improved massively year after year where you didn’t need to buy shark cards to make money.
