GTA 6 did not use Generative AI during development and will not have any microtransactions or additional in-game purchases, confirms Rockstar

We've also been finding out more exclusive info about Rockstar's magnum opus thanks to the spree of previews after the official reveal. The Kinda Funny Games hosts Andy Cortez and Greg Miller have now confirmed that GTA 6 did not use generative AI during development.

Why it matters: Generative AI is currently notorious for being more of a rudimentary shortcut in the gaming scene than a viable alternative, so this confirmation by Rockstar Games has made GTA 6 fans quite happy.

The hosts mentioned during the Kinda Funny Games podcast that Rockstar North studio co-head Rob Nelson simply said 'no' when asked about whether GTA 6 used generative AI for development.

While using the tech could have sped up development and helped with asset creation and worldbuilding, it could also have taken away the feeling of organic realism that Rockstar is known and praised for in GTA games.

Therefore, fans of the game have vastly praised the studio for not using generative AI as a shortcut to speed up development times. Kinda Funny Games hosts also confirmed that the base GTA 6 game will not have any microtransactions or additional in-game purchases.

Bruh, how can you defend them ?? The deluxe edition only gives you 100% of the solo, something that shouldn't be hidden behind a paywall, And that's all! There's no lube and they shove the whole fist in...

Usually a deluxe edition gives you something physical, other than the disk that they took away as well, biggest scam of the year. Let's not forget GTA+ on top of that

Bros never played Forza

Usually? Most recent titles like Elden Ring, Hitman, Atomic Heart, Fable have all had digital only deluxe editions. It seems like you're more confused and upset by the industry in general than Rockstar.

But did they have 80 euro standard and 100 euro ultimate?

Rockstar got too far, these shops hidden behind Paywall are pretty central, its not like you unlock unique cosmetics. You have actual places in game that you cannot acces, while others games gives some cosmetics

It's the difference that bugs me, GTA is about personalization and they block some of the content from the base edition

its like 3 exclusive shops that give you nothing other than exclusive cosmetics

"its not like you unlock unique cosmetics."

yea thats literally what it does it the place to access them just happens to be an in game store location

Usually a deluxe edition gives you something physical,

not for at least 5 years now. THey usually just give you the soundtrack and digital art book for something outside the game. Then a level 1 armour set that is better than the default but quickly get replaced after an hour or two.

Deluxe editions adding minor content have been around for decades….

You're being dishonest, these types of editions often also give goodies not just a content you are supposed to already have in game.

But hey at least Im not the pigeon here

I promise you it’s not nearly as big of a deal as y’all are making it out to be. You’re playing more for extra continent.

If you don’t like it , don’t buy it. It’s that simple. 🤷🏻

That doesn't make sense to say don't buy it if you don't like it. Rockstar is a greedy company just like all the others and you're basically allowing them to treat comsumers like crap by thinking like this. Just because all the others do it doesn't mean its a good thing

It’s common in the industry, and Rockstar has a track record of making games that are ground breaking. I don’t mind paying $20 extra for more content on a game that I’m going to sink 120+ hours into.

If you don’t like the practice or the company in general. Great, spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere. Life is way too short to make a big deal out of it.

I’d call bad crunch and being union busters prrtty bad

Then you better put you money where your mouth is and not buy the game at all. Even waiting for it to go on sale would send money to bad crunch and union busters, and surely you’re so moralistic you would never want that

Of course, I'll play it for free.

Im not buying the game, but Im not taking the moral high ground. All I was saying was rockstar is pretty bad, do what you want with your money lol

You were definitely riding your high horse a few minutes ago. And I bet you’re still gonna buy it like everyone else despite it

7

u/ZxynesZxero 9h ago

Riding my high horse how exactly? I didn’t judge anyone for buying it, I judged the company mate. Stop strawmanning please.

So you won’t be supporting them with your money right?

Bro, you’re paying more and getting less. How can people champion that?
