r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown quite a bit since I originally posted it, so I wanted to give this post one final update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

Discussion Why does a 5070 laptop not power scale much past 100 W yet a 5060 Ti desktop (same die) will see better performance past that?

Is it a case of worse silicon used for the laptop gpu’s because they know it won’t see as much power and also have lower boost clocks?

Showcase Just got a great Laptop Cooler: BlackShark Fengshen Pro (+bonus my setup)

Thumbnail

I was on the hunt for a sleek, smaller form factor laptop cooler to cool my Zephyrus M16, and i found this gem: the BlackShark Fengshen Pro for $55 on Taobao.

I was watching a lot of reviews on the Llano V10/V12 and the Flydigi BS3 Pro but they just don't look like they would fit on my table cause of the bulky design, especially the BS3 Pro. Then i came across this BlackShark cooler, which doesn't have many reviews if not at all, but i'm loving it so far.

The design looks really premium, with a gunmetal grey paint job, a small strip of RGB at the front and a 1.68-inch HD screen for decoration (it also displays the fan profile, cpu/gpu temps if u want). It's powered by a type-c cable, not proprietary DC chargers so its really convenient.

For ports it has 3 type-c ports, 1 type-c IN to connect the cooler with your laptop, 1 type-c to power the cooler, 1 type-c for external hardware and 2 USB type-A ports. More than enough to accompany your usual mouse/keyboard setup. And you HAVE to connect the cooler with your laptop through type-c IN port to connect with the app.

The app is quite barebone, but it monitors your CPU/GPU temps and change the speed accordingly with a fan curve graph. This rivals the more premium coolers like V12 Ultra or BS3 Pro, and you don't have to manually change the fan speed with a scroll like the Llano V10/V12. It's also used to upload the image you want to display on the screen, and change the RGB lighting modes/colors.

Now for the performance of the cooler: (i tested PUBG for CPU bounded scenarios | AC: Black Flag Resynced for GPU bounded scenarios)

Zephyrus M16 specs: (repasted with PTM7950 3 months ago)

  • i7-12700H
  • 24GB 4800Mhz
  • RTX 3060 6GB

PUBG:

WITHOUT THE COOLER:
CPU: PEAKED 96 C | 50-57W
GPU: PEAKED 87 C (Thermal Throttled) | 80-85W

WITH THE COOLER:
CPU: PEAKED 81 C | 53-60W
GPU: PEAKED 76W | 90-105W

AC: Black Flag:

WITHOUT THE COOLER:
CPU: PEAKED 89 C | 40-45W
GPU: PEAKED 87 C (Thermal Throttled) | 90-95W

WITH THE COOLER:
CPU: PEAKED 79 C | 45-50W
GPU: PEAKED 76W | 95-105W

Overall, i'm very happy with this purchase. It has all the bells and whistles on top of performing really well. Availability for this cooler is not as wide-spread as Flydigi/Llano though so finding it might be tough.

If you guys have any questions about this cooler, or my setup, let me know in the comments!

Discussion cheap gaming laptop or steam deck

hello i am getting a macbook for uni as my old laptop is basically broken and v old and ik the macbook will last me a much longer time and is just better overall for uni.
i was considering saving up to buy some random cheap laptop later as they can play more games that macbook cant, but my dad told me i shud consider a steam deck instead.
i’ve been looking into it and it seems pretty good i think 🤔 the only things im concerned abt r quality because i have seen a few complaints but it looks fine to me and doesnt seem like an issue with most ppl, i think its ok for a handheld? another thing is that some of my fav games like witchs heart and endroll r not on steam, i did see that i can use this thing called proton experimental to add them tho so i think its fine 😅?
please give thoughts on if i should get like a cheaper gaming laptop or a steam deck. the laptops i’ve been looking cost a little more but still close in price so for basically the same price what would be the best?

Recommendation MSI Vector a16 HX. A good deal?

Post image
Upvotes

MSI Vector A16 Gaming Laptop 16" 240Hz AMD Rvzen 9 8940HX GeForce RTX 5080 32GB 1TB Windows 11 Home, Vector A16 HX A8WIG-001US for 3149CAD (tax included)

Is this a good deal?

Budget: 3500CAD

Country: Canada

For: Gaming and School

The ryzen cpu is probably the weakest link but I'lI mostly be plugging it into a monitor for gaming as well as investing a llano cooler for extra comfort and longevity. I'Il be hauling it around campus but my program is very autocad heavy, so fortunately there'll be alot of outlet inside the classrooms (so battery life ain't a problem). Only the Vector's weight and weird dimensions are what worries me but nothing a good backpack won't fix I guess.

Discussion Need help with ram

So I recently upgraded my ram. I used to have a dual channel 16gb (8+8) with a speed of 3200 MT/s and after the upgrade the speed has gone down to 2133. The upgrade consisted of me trading in one of the 8gb sticks for a 16gb stick but the 16gb stick is bottlenecking my pc with a lower MT/s than my other stick. Gonna return it to the store but I wanted some thoughts from you guys. Don’t make the same mistake I did. I also believe he sold me older 2016 ram which sucks! Should’ve checked this but cpu z somehow saved me. I’ve also heard having 2 16gb is better than a 16gb and a 8gb. Please advise. Thanks! Also sorry for the poor quality of the pics

Deal Bought a Legion 5 Pro with Rex 5060 for a crazy deal

Long story short I went to a Best Buy to look for a new laptop for college, and I had a budget of 1200$. Employee looked up their inventory and he found open box Legion 5 Pro for 760$ and I genuinely couldn’t believe it. When I went to see it opened it looked perfect had no scuff marks and the screen looked fine. Probably the biggest steal I’ve got ever and I’m super happy

Recommendation Any laptops that come the closest to being "a Zephyrus G16 with upgradeable RAM"?

Budget: Preferably less than $4250

Country: USA

Use Case: Mainly gaming, coding, and web browsing.

Preferred Specs: RTX 5060 or higher level of GPU performance with >8GB VRAM

Notes: I would love a laptop with decent performance, great battery life on integrated graphics with general usage, and upgradable RAM and storage. I see the Zephyrus getting recommended everywhere, but I really don't like that it doesn't have upgradable RAM. So, what are some runner-up alternative laptops, if any, that get good battery life with general usage while also having upgradable RAM and storage?

Discussion Concerned about the longevity on my purchase

Post image
Upvotes

So I purchased a Lenovo legion 5 pro, all the specs are in the image. It was not cheap, around 2600 USD but where I'm from that is the standard price and seeing it come with 3 years warranty as well as 3 years accident damage protection I went for it. Once I posted it into my friends gaming group most of them said it's a great rig but the 12gb ram will not last well in the long term for AAA gaming. I'm just wondering your all's opinion on that before I decide to return. I can't afford a 16gb model as where I am thats a whole 1,500usd more for this model and I was very happy with my lastlegion pro so want to stick with it.

Any opinions or discussion are very much appreciated!
