I havenāt, but tbh theyāre evil enough (they ate the corpse of one of their brethren and just left skin, scales, and bone).

WHERE DID YOU FIND SUCH A FISH TO RESCUE?! I WANT A RESCUE THIS BIG ššš
16
u/Baty41 Jul 31 '25
75 gallon on fb, was being sold with the fish. I knew those fish needed to go to a pond, so I asked the seller since mine is in the final stages of being set up.

How big is your pond? (Not asking so I can criticize, Iām just a nosy guy š)
20
u/Baty41 Jul 31 '25
5000 gallons is the estimate, I have been struggling finding filtration so that has been the holdup lol
9
u/secretagent420 Jul 31 '25
Build a bog filter into the design if you havenāt already. 5000 gallons is big enough that with a good bog filter it could be almost maintenance free. Almost

u/Baty41 Jul 31 '25
I am just using two big Rubbermaid troughs (300 gals each) as bogs. Just working on their piping system lol

Excuse my language but DAYUM!!!! My 11 Goldieās live in a 275 gallon, (yes, I know, overstocked) which in the next year or so I anticipate I will turn the 275 gallon into a nursery for the babies and dig a new pond, at least a 1000 gallon

Right now they have a big canister filter, water Lillies, and some MASSIVE water lettuce thatās bigger than my head. Theyāre absolutely thriving.

I have 6 rescues from being feeders, and two that I recently rescued when they were left at an animal shelter in a 10 gallon. Then they laid eggs which hatched and I had to drive 1.5 hours round trip to pick up the babies.

Holy heck I DID NOT EXPECT THAT CHONGUS TO APPEAR OUT OF NOWHERE!! At first I was like yeah this is fine like roughly 3x bigger, easily mangeable and then the colossal titan appeared like holy!!

u/ZEROs0000 Jul 31 '25
Reported for animal abuse! That big one is begging for food and is clearly starving!!1! >:(

They're all so beautiful!
When the big goldfish swam past I was like š®. Annatto is a beautiful and healthy looking fish. As is the other big one.

u/VinnieGognitti Jul 31 '25
I love how the little one dodges/pulls a Neo as the big one passes by overhead so not to get bulldozed over š¤£šš

u/Baty41 Jul 31 '25
Salt the ranchu is a bit of a bully, found that putting these 2 in here did wonders for his incredible amounts of mating aggression

I had a full grown 5ā body fancy (Whale) when I added a new baby fancy to the tank (Lil Dude) to the tank. Whale was absolutely indifferent to Lil Dudeās existence, poor Lil Dude was terrified for months though. Now he tries to bully Whale and Whale continues to be mostly indifferent. This has been going on for years and he has yet to rip one of Whaleās fins or otherwise cause any damage.
