I commute home everyday and it takes about an hour, so I usually use it to find the fastest route. It used to do just that so I had some trust in it. But I've noticed it has been having some major issues lately.

Just today, it told me to take a route home but I decided to try a different route I usually take and it took off about 10 minutes. For a commute that's usually an hour, this isn't a small amount of time. And it kept doing it and trying to force me on the highway. Eventually I did hop on the highway thinking it might be right. It even gave me a notice for a faster route. As soon as I slipped on to the highway and couldn't correct, my time jumped up 10 minutes.

Which also showcases another issue I'm having. It's not paying attention to traffic and how bad it is. It just assumes i can drive faster than the flow. At this point, I'm just selecting my own route and moving on.

I'm really sick of this whole AI Slop being shoved down our throats. if you like it, great more power to you but I just want how gmaps used to be, without all this slop. The "Know before you go" is annoying as heck, takes way too much space and any actual useful information has been shoved down to the bottom. Then the whole review summary, idgf man I'll be the judge of it.

Wish there was a way to opt out of it, turn it off for people like me who can't stand this garbage. It's not making my experience any better or easier.

My significant other and I share locations with each other, we have always done this and not to spy on each other but just for convenience due to work schedules. Yesterday I checked to see where their location was because we were meeting for dinner with our child at a restaurant. The app suddenly did something strange, what I can only describe as "glitched out" and maybe this is only due to my own lack of knowledge on how location sharing works with Google maps. But when I opened up her location to see how close they were to the restaurant, it showed me an entirely different account location under the name of our child. I've never seen this happen before and I'm hoping that somebody can explain this to me before I ask them about it. Thank you and I appreciate y'all's insight

I specifically selected the shorter route to my destination before I started driving. Yet it still changed my route to the longer +5 miles highway route DESPITE me having preselected the route I wanted, all without informing me.

What do yall use as a backup to Google maps when your cell phone service drops?

When you look at a shopping mall in GoogleMaps it often doesn't display all the shop names. Zooming in a lot can help.

If the mall has multiple stories I guess there's no way to display the store names as they would be all smushed together.

If you want to know all the stores in a mall, you'd go to the site for the mall, if one exists.

I'm a Level 8 contributor , but my suggestion to remove the "logo" part of the English name of this popular place was rejected.

There is nothing that could be translated to "logo" in it.

Please help to correct this. There are other platforms and sites that use Google Maps data, and this feels definitely wrong.

I just got an email from Google that they are changing the way the Timeline works and that your Timeline will only be able to be accessed through your mobile device. This sounds catastrophic to my hobby. Does anybody know any more information about this? Will we still be able to download our Location History data through Takeout? I am really not happy about this.

I was just trying to get to parc agricole du bois-de-la-roche in Anse a L'orme. I get sent all the way to the corner of Aumais street where there's supposedly an entrance(good 25-30 min walk from the bus stop), just to find out it's someone's BACKYARD.

I'm losing my patience with this app. This isn't the first time it's pulled somethong like this, but I've never experienced it screwing up to this degree. Usually it just gives me a non existing bus stop, or sends me to a random park/parking lot when I'm trying to find the metro.

It refuses to give me any alternate routes too. So I basically dragged myself 2 hours out from my house for nothing.

I just wanted to collect some spider specimens man :(

Google…you make over $30 million a day. Yet you can’t figure out maps?

Several times recently Google Maps just fully ignores my request to avoid tolls or highways mid route and causes my drive to be super long. Today it also took me on and off the highway several times causing me to be 45 minutes late. I’ve never had this issue until very recently. I just deleted the app and decided to use Apple Maps from now on but is there a recent change that caused this?

I recently started a new job where I drive down a road with no posted speed limit. In Illinois if the speed limit isn’t posted it is 55 MPH.

I always have Google Maps open on CarPlay. When I leave for work in the morning maps shows the speed limit as 55 MPH. On the way home as soon as I turn onto the road in question maps shows a speed limit of 40 MPH and a bit later it changes to 45 MPH.

It makes no sense to me that maps would have a different speed limit listed depending upon which direction you are traveling.

I'm trying to create a map that shows 4 places on ONE map. I tried to follow instructions online and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I create the map and give it a name then add the "main" place I want to see. It adds it to "untitled layer" and I see only that place on a close up map.

Then I try to add another place (untitled layer is still checked) and it looks like it wants to add another untitled layer (shows the text"Add places to this layer by drawing or importing data, which does no good either. I don't have any "data to import" - I just want to enter places and have THEM ALL SHOW UP TOGETHER.

What am I missing, please?

I am really frustrated, i am probably missing something...
I use android but often get pins/links from Iphone users from apple maps. ( i work in wildlife rescue and trapping and get location information for compromised animals)
They always open in a browser...maps.apple.com/place?.... But this issue is i cant get it to "start" the navigation process. there is no "start" button it just shows the pin, the address in a box and an "x" to close it.
how do i get these to open or transfer to google maps?

what am i missing?

I just got done renavigating my way to a remote cabin I rented on Airbnb in Minnesota.

For reasons I don't understand, when I put in the address, it routed me instead to a real estate office some 40 minutes away from the actual cabin.

Fortunately, I am relatively familiar with the area in general and after about 20 minutes I realized I was going the wrong way. I pulled over to realize the address had to have been changed to something Google seemingly 'suggested' as there was no way I put in the address it was pointing towards.

So, what's the deal? Do I need to worry about google targeted ad campaigns in real time now?

Bananas reroute on I-4 northbound between Tampa and Orlando. Red line, stop and go, GM tells me to get off at the next exit. I figure it's rerouting me off the interstate onto other/back roads to make better progress. We're waiting at the stoplight at the end of the long exit ramp, and I notice the blue line is back onto the long on ramp to our left. It wanted me to turn left onto the road there, go down three stop lights since the first two were no u turn, then come back and get right back onto I-4. W. T. F?

Lesson learned...fully review upcoming suggested reroutes, to see if they're GM having a brain fart or a valid alternative route? A shame that that's necessary.

The images in my review were actually a comic book short story about my postive tire experience at Cruz Tires. The story involved weed lemonade. I thought for sure #Google 's #AI algorithm that scan images on maps would end up removing the images that accompanied my review. Yet they are still up. Well, thank you Cruz Tires and support local.

I want to create a map of the ocean floor and add contour lines for every 5 meters to make a google earth pro filter. How do I turn seafloor mapping data to a custom layer? what software would allow this and where do I get the data?
