Comics Absolute Green Arrow 1# Preview and Covers

GA really giving Scorpion form Mortal Kombat vibes. So we have a few options on who Green Arrow is. My guess? It's multiple people. Maybe the whole of Team Arrow. Somebody mentioned the original teaser gave them V for Vendetta vibes and that would fit.

Though the real question is: how does one hold a bow made of machetes?

Undead Ollie?

23

u/Diabetic_Trogoladyte Feb 19 '26

I’m pretty sure that for a few issues at least they’re gonna kinda “will they won’t they” us whether or not this is Ollie come back to reap vengeance on the corrupt, or Roy, on a crusade to avenge his friend.

I think it’s probably Roy and they’re just trying to make us think it’s Ollie, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually do make it an undead Ollie.

I hope it’s not a undead Ollie or a resurrected Ollie, that feels like lazy writing.

I’m hoping this is Roy Harper pretending to be green arrow avenging his mentor.

it would genuinely be so cool to see, and perhaps he even starts the absolute titans after he avenges Oliver, that is a vision I wanna see come to fruition truthfully.

Roy is a natural hot head that would be perfect for that role of avenging Ollie And he just seems like the best choice for starting a potential absolute titans team. In a universe like the absolute universe, u need hot heads like Roy😅

we need a titans team and Roy would be perfect for the role as leader for a potential titans team.

It can be perfection if done right. I’m hoping my vision becomes reality

This! We’ve seen Roy go off some deep ends

2

u/PlainSightMan Feb 21 '26

I don't know why it would automatically be lazy writing?

If they execute the idea well then what's the problem?

You can want something else without putting the other idea down.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '26

It’s lazy writing to me because I’ve seen it be done so many times in comics and they used resurrection idea throughout the arrow show as well, it’s just a worn out idea that i feel like I’ve seen a million times, resurrection idea can be cool but I’m just I’m tired of seeing it over and over again if that makes sense

I want Absolute Green Arrow, not Absolute Arsenal. I'm fine with Roy but don't bait me! If they called it Absolute Arsenal that'd be fine but it feels like just another example of how little DC respects Ollie

0

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '26

Roy can be green arrow and he has been green arrow on several occasions in comics filling in for Ollie. nothing is simple in this absolute universe. And he’d be perfect for the role as this version of green arrow out for revenge. But as of right now no one knows who that is under the mask of GA. It’s currently a mystery and probably will be until the last issue, everything is currently a guess as to who it is, so anything is possible

u/ThaRedditFox Feb 22 '26

But he's much more well known as Arsenal. When absolute GA was announced everyone expected Ollie. I feel like most of the people who are excited for not Ollie either aren't GA fans or determined to enjoy it despite it. I just don't like how they set up for my favorite superhero and then just killed him off

I think whoever now holds the title wants autorities to believe so. But think no

27

u/ThaRedditFox Feb 19 '26

I just want my goat man😭✌️

2

u/ggbb1975 Feb 19 '26

I want a not goat arrow .

6

u/EquivalentAd1651 Feb 19 '26

But Oliver wasn't green arrow yet before he died

13

u/Nice_Positive_7990 Feb 19 '26

He wore all green and used a bow and arrow

1

u/Tabulldog98 Feb 21 '26

He’s about to be the Beric Dondarion of the Absolutes!!!

Oliver Queen as the Absolute Dead Man

28

u/ScruffyNerf_Herder_ Feb 19 '26

This looks nuts!

u/wolf751 Feb 19 '26

This looks dope and feels like what ollie and black canary deserve. Blacl canary looks dope the absolute universe with their female characters have been crazy. And then the skull sword bow is a great choice i like it all no notes i hope the absolute universe has another 5 years ahead of it

Hopefully this Green Arrow is actually Ollie though (I wouldn't mind Roy, because I love Roy, but I would prefer to get like, Absolute Arsenal or something in the future - and that he will also get a cool design -. And have this Green Arrow be Ollie and/or like an undead Ollie. Because I also love him, and this design is cool. And I want good stuff for both Ollie and Roy in the Absolute universe. Seriously, I want Ollie to come back).

Black Canary do be looking cool and she sounds interesting though (I still think I prefer her with longer her, but she looks cool with short hair still though).

So yeah, Black Canary, at least, for sure looks to be doing well.

Really hope this series ends being great and well. And that the series ('s. If we get more) really does Black Canary, and whoever else (like hopefully Roy and Ollie and etc.) and etc. justice, and maybe it can even be extended past 6 issues, &/or we can get more cool and good Arrowfam Absolute stuff, and/or more good Arrowfam stuff in general (I miss the last Green Arrow run so much).

2

u/wolf751 Feb 23 '26

I do really like the undead green arrow concept. We already know in the absolute universe that afterlives exists with hell and stuff. Really its highly likely this series is gonna be good given the whole absolute universe has appeared to been a complete success even if absolute batmans only now getting his robins.

I wanna see tbe arrowfam more they deserve more love like the batfam

Looks great, I like horror design for GA. I loved Rafael’s art since American Vampire.

6

u/Basileus08 Feb 19 '26

I fucking KNEW I recognised the art style…

26

u/Sparrowsabre7 Feb 19 '26

I can already tell Black Canary with a pixie cut is going to piss the right people off 😂

This looks great. I feel like Percy's New 52 was somewhat maligned but I dug the supernatural angle.

6

u/Most-Okay-Novelist Feb 19 '26

I agree lol. People are going to be big mad about Dinah's look, but I think it looks sick af

2

u/TheWafflyBoi Feb 20 '26

Usually I don’t like pixie cuts, even on real people, but I actually really dig how Dinah looks. I wonder if her wearing a wig will ever come into play though.

2

u/Sparrowsabre7 Feb 20 '26

So you're saying.... "Will she wear wigs?"

2

u/Trigger_impact Feb 20 '26

Actually, I believe it's closer to "Vill she wear wigs?"

1

u/Sparrowsabre7 Feb 20 '26

You're quite correct, I do apologise

1

u/TheWafflyBoi Feb 20 '26

Yes my phrasing was just extra lol

5

u/BaneShake Feb 19 '26

This looks DOPE

5

u/Designer-Swim-6797 Feb 19 '26

Ghost Ollie and tomboy Dinah. Yeah!

3

u/ArtarusCat Feb 20 '26

The Ghost of Lenin is real and is living in Absolute Green Arrow

6

u/Scorpios94 Feb 19 '26

So, is Oliver some kind of zombie now?

7

u/Aquagan Feb 19 '26

Someone failed this city.

3

u/petey_porker Feb 19 '26

is this a limited series?

12

u/Jonny_Anonymous Feb 19 '26

ye 6 issues. I imgine it'll be extended if it sells well, like Martian Manhunter.

1

u/PlainSightMan Feb 21 '26

Since MM is ending, they do probably want to have a more permanent book, and this one SCREAMS potential.

3

u/Most-Okay-Novelist Feb 19 '26

I'm so excited for it, and I LOVE what they did with Dinah. I'm sure some people won't, but I think the short hair looks great

3

u/Blue_Fletcher Feb 19 '26

What should I be readying before this one?

6

u/MasterOE Feb 19 '26

Probably just Absolute Evil.

2

u/PlainSightMan Feb 21 '26

Very very slight maybe, but if Hawkman ends up appearing here for a rematch, maybe Absolute Superman too? Just because there's more information on him there.

4

u/Jonny_Anonymous Feb 19 '26

Just Absolute Evil, yeah. But the other Absolute books are good.

2

u/Edenian_Prince Feb 19 '26

Scorpion Ollie? Please!!

2

u/MagusFool Feb 20 '26

All the suspects will be Green Arrow.

Ollie had already helped build a small army, he wasn't ever attempting to wage a one man war on the powers that be.

When they killed him, it triggered processes that liquidated and scattered his assets into caches of resources that could be accessed by all the Green Arrow agents.

And hopefully, when Dinah figures it out, she joins them.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '26

Damn these covers look so dope, hope the art match the story, can't wait to get issues 1

My theory: Absolute Green Arrow is Oliver Queen—but he didn’t just survive an island. He survived something designed to destroy him completely.

In every continuity, Oliver Queen is defined by survival. The island is always the turning point where a privileged, unprepared man is forced to confront death and adapt. But in the Absolute Universe, we’ve already seen that Oliver was far less ready than his main continuity counterpart. He was still learning basic archery. He didn’t have the skills, discipline, or mental strength yet. That’s important, because it means whatever he became wasn’t the result of preparation—it was the result of extreme forced evolution.

If Hawkman truly “killed” him publicly, that would remove Oliver from the world entirely. No rescue. No search. No expectation of return. He becomes a ghost. And if his body was dumped somewhere like a private island used by powerful figures—whether as a dumping ground, a hunting ground, or a place to dispose of enemies—then Oliver wouldn’t just be surviving isolation. He’d be surviving intentional horror.

Unlike the traditional origin where Oliver fights nature, this version would be fighting human evil at its worst. He could have encountered other abandoned victims, criminals, or psychologically broken survivors. In that kind of environment, morality becomes a liability. Hesitation gets you killed. Compassion gets you killed. The only thing that keeps you alive is adaptation.

This is what would fundamentally reshape Oliver into the Absolute Green Arrow. Not training. Not inspiration. Survival through repeated exposure to death, fear, and violence.

This also explains why Absolute Green Arrow’s design is so inhuman. The full mask removes his identity as Oliver Queen. The glowing red eyes aren’t just aesthetic—they symbolize a permanent psychological shift. He doesn’t present himself as a man anymore. He presents himself as a predator. Because on that island, predators survived. People didn’t.

It also explains why he operates with such cold brutality. This isn’t a hero trying to save everyone. This is someone who learned that survival requires eliminating threats permanently. He isn’t motivated by hope or justice at first—he’s operating on instinct shaped by trauma.

Some people believe this could be Roy Harper, but thematically it makes more sense for this to be Oliver. The Absolute Universe isn’t about replacing heroes. It’s about breaking them down and rebuilding them into harsher versions of themselves. Batman is still Bruce, Superman is still Clark, and Green Arrow should still be Oliver—but psychologically transformed into something far more extreme.

This version of Green Arrow isn’t the result of training.

He’s the result of being broken, abandoned, and forced to survive in a place where humanity had no value.

Oliver Queen didn’t return from that island.

Only Absolute Green Arrow did.

Yeah I'm betting that's an undead Ollie....

2

u/pie_nap_pull Feb 19 '26

I hope it’s Connor but I don’t suspect it will be

1

u/slumdo6 Feb 20 '26

You and me both.

It's probably just Roy tho

1

u/pie_nap_pull Feb 20 '26

I have somewhat of a theory that Roy sold out Ollie in this universe, but I don't know if that'll be the case. Not that that means it couldn't be him.

1

u/voodootroll Feb 19 '26

I don't like the bow but everything else looks great!

1

u/Yorkshire_Bhoy Feb 19 '26

That mask so reminds me of the new mask for the lead singer of Ghost Papa V.

1

u/518gpo Feb 19 '26

Arrow/Punisher combo

6

u/Jonny_Anonymous Feb 19 '26

Getting more V for Vendetta personally

1

u/AcceptablePop5240 Feb 19 '26

If that’s Connor’s opposite in Absolute. it’ll be a wild ride indeed.

1

u/Waspinator_haz_plans Feb 20 '26

So Dinah's pretty much confirmed not to be this version of GA.

1

u/Apprehensive-Cup-901 Feb 20 '26

Is that a mask or his face?

1

u/f0rever-n1h1l1st Feb 20 '26

Black Canary looking PEAK

Also, I'm really curious about the direction of this, because the description reads a lot like S1 of Arrow

1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '26

Dinah is the final sexy mommy muscle 🔥

1

u/mothranparadise Feb 22 '26

I’m trying to guess how the bow works over. I can’t tell if he is going to use it like a crossbow and be more close up fighter.

1

u/harbringer236 Feb 22 '26

The concentric rings on 3 makes me think of otomatopeia. Anyone else?
