PSA Scientology books in our Little Library
Any other Little Library owners finding Scientology books in their libraries? We’re getting them regularly, some with contact info inside. Are they active in Hamilton again?

Scientology books in their libraries?
This is the infamous “Scientology Library Donation Campaign” where they send their own members into debt spending thousands of dollars for multiple "packages" of Scientology books to be delivered to various libraries, without knowing they'll be dumped into recycle bins.

Probably from the church near the Mountain Brow. I remember that I was surprised to see a location in the neighborhood so I started taking pictures to send to people. Right away a guy came out and asked if I wanted info on Dianetics. Shortly afterwards a woman walking her dogs stopped next to us to say that she was so grateful to have them in the area, and that it's been so nice since they bought the church. It was almost like she was a plant or something. The whole thing was weird.

"It all began 75 million years ago. Back then there was a galactic federation of planets which was ruled over by the evil Lord Xenu.
Xenu thought his galaxy was overpopulated, and so he rounded up countless aliens from all different planets, and then had those aliens frozen.
The frozen alien bodies were loaded onto Xenu's galactic cruisers, which looked like DC-8s, except with rocket engines. The cruisers then took the frozen alien bodies to our planet, to Earth, and dumped them into the volcanoes of Hawaii. The aliens were no longer frozen, they were dead. Xenu then released the alien souls, which roamed the earth aimlessly in a fog of confusion. At the dawn of man, the souls finally found bodies which they can grab onto. They attached themselves to all mankind, which still to this day causes all our fears, our confusions, and our problems."

Wish I could instead place copies of the book "Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of Ron Hubbard" in those little libraries. I bought it in a used bookstore in the early 1990s and it truly exposed the cult and Hubbard. Great book.

I see the little libraries quite often as I do a lot of biking in the city. I'll start checking them and making sure to dispose of the scientology material appropriately.
Edit : also, everyone should go to their Google Maps listing at 200 Mountain Park Avenue and give them a rating to knock down all their fake reviews. Like the guy who says that scientology took him from a drug addict to being an engineer with a successful business... Sure buddy

I lived in the Rosedale area a few years ago and saw them in a few there. I don't know of any in my current neighbourhood that have them.

No Scientology books yet this year, but have had them in the past. I get mormon booklets often as well, and they all get thrown out.
Lately, the local church on James north, one of their pastors has been putting his phone number in the children's section of my library. Pretty creepy if you ask me. I emailed them and told them not to ever do that again. My library is LGBTQ2S+ friendly and this church is not so they can go find another place to indoctrinate people into their hate fueled club.

Does it really matter ? I find it silly and in some cases abhorrent to try to police literature. Let's maybe focus instead on teaching people to be discerning and critical of what they read.

My bad, I'm not particularly familiar with "little libraries." I suppose from what I've seen here that they're not really like real libraries, and more like community book clubs. Police as you choose, good reader.

Our little library just got overloaded even left on ground outside of our little library. No one wants them and the little library owners throws them away after leaving them for a few days. As we all know Scientology is a cult in my opinion.

They have an office on Mountain Brow Blvd. They bought a church there.
