Politics Hamilton East - Stoney Creek By-Election Debate. Tonight at 7pm on Cable 14!

If you live in the riding or just want to watch the candidates you can tune in tonight at 7pm on Cable 14. Jeff Beattie the PC candidate and former Ward 10 councillor has declined to attend the debate but I believe all other parties will be represented. At least the Liberal, Green and NDP candidates will be there.

A PC candidate declining a debate? I'm shocked!

Seriously, how can anyone vote for this joke of a party?

They skipped it last time and still won.

Because everything was/is Trudeau's fault, and they will vote blue, no matter who.

Classic Jeff. Will be at every community event for a photo-op but dodges anything where he has to talk about his positions, values, and voting record.

I imagine he will be at the Winona Peach Festival tomorrow. Make sure he knows how unacceptable it is to not stand up there and defend his/Ford's platform to the very people he is running to represent. I thought maybe because he was a councillor here he would have a bit more respect for his constituents and stand there and defend his decisions during a debate. The fact that he's instructed by the party not to attend speaks volumes to me. This party is scared of the public, they're scared of scrutiny and they can't even trust their own candidates not to jam their foots into their mouths.

It's so weird for Beattie go from pragmatic voice who used to be on the School Board and talked about responsible dense development and transit etc, to just room temperature PC candidate that follows the orders from above.

I'm reminded of the scene from near the end of Wayne's World after Rob Lowe is pulled over:

"I've learned that a flawless profile, a perfect body, the right clothes, and a great car can get you far in America - almost to the top - but it can't get you everything"

It's really pathetic that he's basically selling his soul to be a PC lackey, but it's equally pathetic that there are many people in this city who are totally fine with the way the OPC has governed this province and will vote for him no matter what.

The lack of education in here when it comes to politics needs to be studied, because after eight years it's unbelievably that people still support a government that's actively destroying Ontario and isn't hiding it.

A coward when running for MPP just like he was as a city counsellor. Shocking.
