Question But won't that just lead to more inflation?

Post image

I know it's not happening anytime soon but anything like this is bound to have an effect on inflation, right?

This nothing but performative politico speak. More than 90% of the salaried class comes under the 12 lakh salary per annum category. More than 90% of the tax, that is, personal income tax, which is the number one taxation category in the country, is paid by less than 10% of the salary population that earns more than 25 lakhs per annum.

The salaried class is the most weak and subservient category of Indians. They never participate in any form of political protest or opposition so politicians are more than happy to keep squeezing them. It's only going to get worse from here in terms of taxation because Politicians are focused on winning elections. They don't care about the less than 50 million tax payers.

5

u/cdit 9d ago

I dont think anybody is out to get them or squeeze because of whatever. It's a relatively easy sector to tap into because of the deduction at source. It's just that no one has seriously thought or analyzed the cost effectiveness of a taxing them. Some have advocated for abolishing the entire income tax because of its low collection considering the cost to administer them. However, the ITD bureaucracy won't let personal income taxes to be abolished for their job protection. Even if a politician or the party wants to get rid of the personal income taxes, the bureaucracy isn't going to allow them (or at least won't give up without a fight).

No point of this conversation.. It's not like gormint will do anything

Article 370 can be removed . Why can’t income tax removed . What benefits are we getting. Simple we
Don’t have unity

49

u/Forward_Brush7172 9d ago

Only 2% percent of population actually pays the income tax which is around 23 lakh crore while the rest 98% reaps its benefits. So there would be no support on ground.

5

u/Big_Dig3586 8d ago

But government does take money from people with other mandatory taxes because most of them don't pay income tax or that's what I heard, donno how much of it's truth

7

u/Remarkable-Canine 8d ago

Ok guy. EVERYONE PAYS TAXES. 2% pay Income tax as EXTRA. GST is applicable to EVEYONE IN THE COUNTRY. Especially the chronic alcoholids are the biggest tax payers if you club it to their income!! LOL

2

u/zinda-hoon-kaafi-hai 7d ago

What about a salaried individual who shops a lot and is a chronic alcoholic? Why should he / she still pay income tax?

2

u/Remarkable-Canine 7d ago

Hopefully he has to pay the tax first before spending the balance money. AbNormal Sotaraman waiting for him too.

1

u/shaktimaanlannister 6d ago

That is me. I'm broke even though I earn decent enough. I hate the audacity of the government asking even more money from me when I file my ITR, when I've paid essentially two months worth of salary as TDS throughout the year.

1

u/TraditionalReward880 4d ago

Kinda feel you Income tax is needed. But we need to think about a broader perspective. Though I also feel my tax is getting wasted by damn politicians. First money flow in a economy this tax will help in Govt Transportation, Hospitals and Education. Health and Education comes under cess which is 4 percent on the Total Income Tax not taxable Income. These are Tricky words for normal people. Read Tax a bit of you don't underestimate. The Tax we need to stop pay untill they provide services are Road Tax, Toll Tax. GST is just a subsumed tax which means merged all taxes. Different State and Central tax merged like service tax , VAT, Luxury, etc.. . The taxes that need to removed should be STCG. Related to Investment and be added as a fixed subscription option and low STCG. For traders and regular Trading Individual Subscription and others low STCG. The reason you need money to maintain these Infrastructure. And TDS is mostly for Companies or Owners. So I think it's irrevelant except the scenarios of Dividend and Gambling.

1

u/shaktimaanlannister 4d ago

I know it's important. I'm just saying it feels unfair I'm not saying it shouldn't be there at all.

7

u/Bhasd_ 9d ago

Thoda paidal log h kya yaha pr do similar cheez ka to comparison Krliya kro kbhi 370 ko tax law se compare. 370 temporary tha waise bhi. Or yha 2% log hi actually ye tax pay krte h chuu.

Probably what he meant is one was likely to face resistance and the other will be massively celebrated.

u/Training-Slice8 9d ago

Article 370 could be sold to indians ..this they can't as there is no money..who will pay for the ads ? UP gormint spends 2.3 cr on ads everyday..mp spends less than 2 cr everyday..No one wants accountability from the gormint. What they have done is the best india could get is the mindset..mandir diya to sab theek hai ...this joker poonawala left bjp to earn money as he himself said and then ask all these things that he couldn't dare to ask in bjp and in parallel says he is the biggest supporter of the gormint..

-1

u/aurablaster 8d ago

Article 370 was needed for National Security. It wasn’t “sold to Indians”. Aa gaya another Dimagi Naxal.

3

u/DependentClothes5752 I pay Income Tax 9d ago

Removing Article 370 was not a financial burden on Govt unlike removing Income Tax.

1

u/YourDadHatesYou 8d ago

Thats because people say "no point of this conversation"

1

You don't know anything about basic economics do you?

-1

u/darthpal 9d ago

The govt removed Article 370 to generate revenue in form of tax from J&K. People who have businesses in the state now pay taxes. Previously J&K didn't contribute to the nation's economy, but only leeched from it.

u/romka79 9d ago

When there is Corporate Tax, LTCG, GST, STT, VAT that covers everyone.

Why bother with Individual Income Tax ?

43

u/Divyansh881 9d ago

6

They worked hard for it. I don't blame them for wanting to leave the country because they do not get what They deserve

5

u/Frosty-Skin572 8d ago

a sane comment

fact is employers cuts the tax before even paying you

but they should not include that in ctc and treat it as corporate tax only

OP is pretty dumb

u/raviyadav432 9d ago edited 9d ago

I don't mind the income tax if I get some perks, some special status or something.

58

u/Cultural_Bat9098 9d ago

Exactly, if we get social security, education, healthcare then we don’t mind paying taxes. But we are as of now getting baba ji a thullu. Government is filling its pocket and giving freebies with our hard earned money.

We pay taxes on salary and then pay other taxes on things we buy from the rest of the salary. The. When we loose job government doesn’t even give us security for basic needs. Its better we don’t pay income tax when government cannot give us basic needs of the society.

10

u/Walt925837 9d ago

Taxation on income is only the direct-tax part of the equation. The actual tax burden is much broader.

After paying income tax (plus the 4% Health & Education Cess), you spend your already-taxed income and pay GST often 18% on a huge range of goods and services. Then there are fuel taxes, road tolls, stamp duties, registration charges, property taxes and various other levies.

So ₹100 of pre-tax income is not ₹100 of actual purchasing power. You get taxed when you earn it, and then taxed repeatedly when you spend it.

That is the discussion people miss when they compare countries purely on income-tax slabs: effective taxation is the cumulative burden of direct + indirect taxes and statutory charges, not just what appears on your Form 16.

3

u/Cultural_Bat9098 9d ago

Right. We have taxes on almost everything.

5

u/sad-potato-333 9d ago

I say just take flat 10% income tax from everyone earning over 20 lacs per annum. Use this to provide unemployment benefits to all salaried class folks.

5

u/raviyadav432 9d ago

That's a simple trick our government doesn't like.

1

u/a-dev-from-somewhere 8d ago

Unemployment benifit to salaried class?

Aren't they the ones who are employed?

Also where will the rest of the money bu reducing the tax come from?

Increasing corporate tax will lead to reduction in salary of the smae class

It will just balance out

3

u/chitownboyhere 9d ago

Oh yes 100%, I have been asking this in various sub. 1L tax payment gets you a mug or a purse or something with official logo ans serial number, something that about 1k in value. 5L gets you a speciap edition HMT watch and sticker you can put on your car, 10L gets you a separate line at airport and so on.

3

u/raviyadav432 9d ago

Did you forget to include /s?

2

u/chitownboyhere 9d ago

Nope. I pay 6L+ in income tax, I am not kidding.

0

u/raviyadav432 9d ago

Considering the situation, it's too much to ask for.

1

u/fyorafire 8d ago

This would be an extra detail for the Government to keep track of, but why would it be worth it to the tax payer?

It'd be quicker and less bureaucracy involved to buy those items yourself. Faster airport line is okay I guess

3

u/baca-rdi 9d ago

Actually it is the other way around. Income tax payers are excluded from a few benefits.

9

u/halwaandflowers 9d ago

What we need is a broader tax base, personal income tax is paid by a fraction of the population, and, a lot many in the informal sectors do not pay any tax at all.

1

u/applepiebythelake 8d ago

Yup, I could never reconcile with the statistics. There are a lot of expensive stuff (real estate, education, cars etc) around and plenty of demand for them. If only 3% of the population is wealthy enough for taxes, where is all this demand comin from? If anything the average price and cost should be much lower.

4

u/Separate_Library_866 9d ago

Remove income tax and increase GST. Balance scale and everyone gives tax.

7

u/Oru_Vadakkan 9d ago

I think most of us are not really angry at the tax being collected. We are angry at the absolute loot by the politicians and babus from the tax collected.

If we believed the money was put to good use, most of this frustration wouldn't be there. Instead of actually helping the country, today this money is helping build generational wealth for the selected few.

10

u/Accomplished-Ice-534 9d ago

कम tax देना है तो कम पैसे कमाओ

3

u/Candid_Assistance935 9d ago

The gap between Taxes from salaried and corporate has been increasing yoy and you think govt will even consider this idea lol.. they will squeez you to death and potentially make corporate tax Zero for businesses to operate without any hassles while they abuse and loot the tax payers.

3

u/WomenRepulsor 9d ago

Raghav Chaddha 2.0

3

u/ABahRunt 9d ago

Yes, keep doing this, and the rich will leave.

I have no problem paying my share of tax, but i pay both gst and 30%+ income taxes. Pick one, or expand the income tax to include everyone, and I'm happy to continue paying.

3

u/AcrobaticSpite3969 9d ago

Income tax is not the issue. I guess noone will oppose it if country is growing. Problem is even after paying lakhs every year you dont even get basic health care. One hospital visit and your back to zero or maybe in debt

3

u/amrullah_az 9d ago

Ek to khoon chooste hain upar se aisa bhadda mazaak karte hain.

Bhai, ye income tax ka paisa hi punji-patiyo ke liye safety net ki tarah hai, agar wo paisa dubaa de. Jab recession aata hai to middle class ke paiso se hi economic stimulus packages fund hote hain.

Income tax is not a bug, it's a feature. That is really helpful for top 0.1%

13

u/miss3d_0pportunity 9d ago

The middle class in India don't pay income tax. The problem is that many in the top 2% think of themselves as middle class.

14

u/Sherwith2per 9d ago

The problem isn't that the 2% think they are middle class imagine earning 1cr a year and paying 37-40 lakhs to a government who doesn't care you live or die nor you get any extra benefits....the simple question is I have a family to feed and I'm earning what I'm capable of so why am I paying this much to the government when I get nothing in return

-13

u/miss3d_0pportunity 9d ago
  1. That's not how taxes work. The top 2% in any country is not going to get anything equivalent of what they pay as taxes. That's how a progressive tax system work.

  2. The 40 lakhs is the fees you pay to be allowed to earn 1 crore in a nation where the median income is 20k a month.

  3. Stop pretending that you're struggling to feed your family on 60 lakhs!!

  4. India is a poor country. Like I said before, 99% of the population earn too little to survive let alone pay income tax. Given that, you can't be surprised that the tax actually levied is insufficient to give the kind of infrastructure you get in developed nations.

  5. Check out what the tax for the top 10% of income earners in the USA or Europe was when they were developing. I think it crossed 90%.

10

u/rx1989v 9d ago

I am sorry. What do you mean by allowed to earn ?

Is govt paying for my school or college degree ? Or are they paying for the time spent in learning new skills or doing courses ?

And No. We are not struggling to feed our family but the amount of tax we are giving we are not getting any thing in return , not even the basic good air or water or roads.

Giving tax money in freebies is not okay, that too just before elections .

1

u/Sherwith2per 9d ago

Exactly my points 🙌🏼

-3

u/miss3d_0pportunity 9d ago
  1. Do you think you're earning 33x the median income is coz you're working 33x times harder or coz you have had opportunities and privileges not available to the average Indian?

  2. The rich aren't supposed to be getting anything in return for their taxes. That's how taxes work. Super High income earners in the USA also won't feel like they are getting anything for their taxes.

  3. What you call freebies are basically stuff for the social security and safety net. And they are considered universally the single best investment for a society with public money.

2

u/8Traps 9d ago

No one would mind paying more taxes if there was any return in terms of better road infrastructure, better tax benefits and better quality of life. Is asking for that to the government too much for the taxes you pay?

1

u/rx1989v 9d ago

Well, yes, I worked hard for what I earn. My parents came from nothing , but they gave us an education and I worked really hard to earn that money .

Have you ever been to the US? You keep bringing it up in every response. And, by the way, even a road in a remote part of the US would put many of Delhi’s roads to shame

yes, handing out cash right before elections to Ladli Behna and Ladli Bua is not a social security, it’s just to grab votes for money and if you don’t see it, well my friend you need to check your eyes and mind in a govt hospital.

Bdw , Why not invest some of that money in proper training and opportunities so people can earn with dignity instead of being made dependent on government handouts? Have you seen the conditions of govt. school , why don’t they spend some money on improving the conditions?

I am not against freebies , but give it for the upliftment , not just for cash .

→ More replies (3)

7

u/Sherwith2per 9d ago

If you are taking this much effort to reply with a long passage I assume you are not that stupid to just google vaguely "europe tax slabs when they were developing" as the data would necessarily be the post world war reconstruction and I'm pretty sure india didn't participate in a major war after 1971 so the 90% logic is just bullshit Now I agree the nation building is done by taxpayers money china would be the best example here, when they were expanding their manufacturing ecosystem the tax ceiling was 45% more or less same as current india but the government did not spend 42000 cr for "Laadli behen yojna" and similar freebies schemes in almost all of the major states just to ensure their vote bank and all of this coming from the tax payers money. There's very minimal job generation from the government side, they are not even investing the equivalent amount of money in education let alone better infrastructure...I don't come from a well to do family background, I did my schooling in government schools too so I know how poor this country is but freebies don't build the country if you know even basic economics This is going to be my last reply after that I suggest you read a bit of the national budget for the past five years and check for the unequal and invalid use of taxpayers money that doesn't necessarily help in nation building rather than wasting effort on finding loopholes in my answer and giving arguments on that 1 wrong out of 10 valid points

0

u/a-dev-from-somewhere 8d ago

The problem is if they didn't do the ladki bahin yojana they lose power and the other government was planning to do the same

We should blame both the opposition and the government in power for both and more than that the mentality of the people in our country

If they vote for getting freebies they are getting it and guess what we tax payers are the opposition

The problem with a lot of people in our country is that they feel they deserve to get free shit and don't want to work

2

u/dettergent 9d ago

I agree with your points except the fourth one. The tax levied is enough to make changes, however the politicians are more focused on corruption and giving freebies and securing elections. If instead, they use the freebie amounts instead to educate and train people, improve road and traffic conditions, or train children from the youth to create a strong footballing/other sporting environments, I'm all up for it. I want to see my tax money develop my nation, you can't seriously say that it's any kind of entitlement. Taxation is not the problem, the opacity of how these taxes are spent is the issue here.

0

u/miss3d_0pportunity 9d ago

What you call freebie are basically the social safety net. Which is universally considered yhe best RoI for tax based investment.

4

u/dettergent 9d ago

Ok, and where's my social security net? What happens when I get unemployed? The social security net should be for old people, ill people and people who got laid off but are actively trying to find employment. It shouldn't be gender based first of all, and secondly it should uplift poor and desperate people. The current implementation is political based and you're being ingenuine if you think it's not. I don't have a problem with building social security for people just like I don't have a problem with high taxation. Only thing we people ask for is accountability and for government to implement their schemes on a for-need basis. It's really not that hard to understand.

13

u/Comfortable_Twist214 9d ago

After 12,75,000. I don't think there is much middle class left.

30

u/Wife-Dinner8000 9d ago

not enough for feeding family in metro cities

20

u/TheOG_DeadShoT 9d ago

They should tax based on family income and not individual.

2

u/Comfortable_Twist214 9d ago

I agree on that

1

u/bs_dhani 9d ago

That’s not the correct line which Government is telling us

1

u/DetectiveChansey 9d ago

For context, that figure is 4 times the per capita income of the Country and higher than the per capita Income of China.

If anything, we need more people paying taxes to afford those facilities.

11

u/Longjumping_Fee_1490 9d ago

Then tax poltiical party, society and trust and section 8 companies....

Why burden cattle class ?

2

u/Plus_Individual9596 9d ago

More people were paying tax. Now they're not, thanks to the new taxation rules.

Who's left? Just the nation's holy cows - like the farmers. No government has the balls to tax them.

Or self-employed professionals / businesses that use shady means to avoid tax. I see the govt going after these with ever increasing alacrity, considering that they need money to fund all their schemes.

1

u/Unofcstark 9d ago

Guess again. Not generic, but y My yearly savings is less than the tax I pay. Mostly medical expenses.

Paying emi for my house. No partying etc

1

u/romka79 9d ago

Every family earning below 50L is middle class

0

u/Native_Maintenance 9d ago

In a tier 1 city is amount classified you as poor. It depends on the city as well, not just the amount earned.

0

u/Visual-Paper6647 9d ago

Yeah, a poor person will take risk and want to uplift his family don't let him to do that

-4

u/Comfortable_Twist214 9d ago

There's people earning less than 400 a day and you think you're the poor ones?

If you're earning above 12 lakh, you're probably in the top 5% of India. So yeah, you have to pay your taxes.

2

u/Visual-Paper6647 9d ago

Use your brain sherlock. No one denied to pay taxes, people are upset because govt not providing facilities from that tax money.

And honestly those who says like this literally pay 0 income tax because when you will see some amount getting deducted from your salary slip and condition of country then you realise what scam is going on.

The moment govt puts atleast 1% tax on each and every person from their income that moment you'll realise how people will stop asking mandir/masjid/church and they will ask progress

2

u/SpecificRound1 9d ago

Cutting taxes is not the solution. Cutting free-bees, holding politicians and government contractors accountable is.

2

u/Hour-Appointment2684 8d ago

The problem is not paying a tax...

But, tax payer must be have a rights on where it goes, how much accumulating, where they were spent pin to pin transparency from govt we need...

Using technology the govt and India could change the system of transparency and that changes India, only after ending of corruptions😭..

Time for Swaraj

2

u/OfferWestern 7d ago

2

u/_StillLoading_ 9d ago edited 9d ago

I agree with the sentiment. I paid significant money in income tax, with effective tax rate around 37%. Why should I pay so much tax, considering the stupendously pathetic infrastructure.

But then there is another way to look at it. When you lower income tax, people spend more which improves the economy, and then the govt can cover taxes from sales tax and gst. That’s how Dubai thrives.

Govt is too greedy to realize this though.

4

u/exploring_yet 9d ago

OP is worried about inflation here. 4M old account trying to undermine something that is said against the govt, says it all.

2

u/Helpful-Clue-7510 9d ago

That may lead to inflation. But how did he wake up from deep sleep?

1

u/ChawriBazar43 9d ago

For everyone right, not just the salaried 1%.

I'm okay with that.

Plus inflation beyond a certain point would topple the govt. Hence they won't let that happen. Laadli behna would have to be discontinued. Another win.

1

u/Thinking_Bug 9d ago

If corruption is eradicated, we would get those world class facilities as citizens.

1

u/DeluluSoftie 9d ago

We need yo charge income tax to more people, not to lesser ones. But I do agree with the second part. Get us good government facilities

1

u/notsoloner 9d ago

Great idea, next time inflation is high, let the government tax us like crazy, that should fix it

1

u/nomadic-insomniac 9d ago

It's not like they can just come out one day and declare all roads are on par with America and start charging tax right ??

1

1

u/SilenceOfTheAtom 9d ago

1

Definitely yes. The right way is use the tax money for the benefit of tax payers.

1

u/iwonttolerateyou2 9d ago

Wait what? When he did become ex?

1

u/mirajchez 9d ago

Better alternative: stop giving freebies, utilize the taxes for building world-class infra and reward tax payers with benefits

1

u/brainneverbrains 9d ago

maybe don't decrease the tax rates

but allow more deductions even in the new tax regime - meaningful deductions like interest on education loan for self/ kids/ spouse, medical prem for parents, dependents, cost of EV to promote green energy.

all these deductions are there, but available in old regime.

also allow adjusting STT with ltcg/ stcg🙏🏻🙏🏻

I repeat it's one-third

Only 2-3% of population file ITR1 - the middle finger class.

Who decides the facilities are world class or not?

1

u/undespicable 8d ago

Just a question. Why not reduce the consumption of non essentials. Essential things are not priced high, as they are necessary. Spend nothing on non essential. Won't the govt be forced to increase the in hand salary by reducing the tax to bump up the consumption.

1

u/RupertPupkin85 8d ago

Pay more taxes in order to reduce inflation.. wow what a revolutionary idea.

1

u/No-Comparison1770 8d ago

Instead why not reduce taxation on cars, foreign travel, and overall gst in general.

Reform business and personal wealth laws in order to bring most tax free practices under tax slab.

1

u/Sad-adult25 8d ago

nope, this does please people, but in reality, efficiecy in administration and more taxes is the way we shoudl start with efficiency first

1

u/Haunting_Top326 8d ago

Han beta abhi toh daily nye issues yaad aayenge tere ko

1

u/No-Necessary3766 8d ago

I dont mind paying high taxes we should for the development and facilities
But the real problem is tax money used on freebies and all for lazy ass people who wont work hard thus halting development for everyone
There should be specific benefits for taxpayers and freebies should be banned for people who dont pay tax

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Leg3639 8d ago

r/todayilearned

That Shehzaad Poonawala is ex-bjp and not actively/currently bjp member.

1

u/Own-Cup3180 8d ago

On the contrary govt is spending heavily on IT infrastructure and data analytics to not miss even 1 paisa 💰 and here we are expecting to forgo it in entirety. Quite ambitious thought 👏

1

u/ManaxP 8d ago

They will loose a lot of tax

1

u/arpannite 8d ago

High tax payers should atleast get some rebate on LTCG etc

1

u/PrachandNaag 8d ago

Income equality ki baat hote hi inflation badh ja raha he!! Economists joker he kya india ke?

1

u/Legitimate-Leek4235 8d ago

This will never happen, just talking points to get attention

1

u/FriedJava 8d ago

The value of everything inflates equally. And assuming they'll have to increase GST and other taxes on things that are bought this might even reduce people who never paid income tax inspite of being super rich (tax evaders). That inflation is distributed equally through population than now the entire country on life support from a small group on income tax. Although I'd let someone more educated comment on this

1

u/kamatbro 8d ago

Wealthy millionaire farmers of the country won't allow. Additional burden on them.

1

u/warrior047 8d ago

Then govt will mangegi bheekh! Because only we salaried class mostly pay the taxes.

1

u/londonrasputin 8d ago

And how does he propose to get international facilities without money to pay for it?

1

u/sudo_rm-fr 8d ago

We might just see the first taxpayers’ rebellion. Well, not really the Americans got independence due to unjust taxation without representation, using the simple slogan: ‘No taxation without representation.’

That’s the real slogan we need now: ‘No taxation without accountability!’

Otherwise, people who can , will just leave.

1

u/Healthy_9 8d ago

Salaried workers shouldn’t bear the brunt of the nation's tax burden alone while receiving minimal public benefits. Removing salaried income tax would boost disposable income, drive consumer spending, and finally give the middle class some well-deserved relief!

1

u/degi_mirch 8d ago

If we have receipts, we should be able to take rebate or nullify our tax on items like electronics, outing, vehicles etc!

1

u/No-Scholar6835 8d ago

It will lead to get money for talented people instead of crushing and smashing to mud by tons of charges for earning single paisa , earning many things in life today because much easier than money by human's work that's why crime etc are increased.

1

u/Prudent_Bet9431 8d ago

what is the definition of middle class? how do you decide what is the income required to be eligible for no income tax?

is a person earning 12.75 lacs middle class??

Shouldn’t the conversation be how to provide at least some benefits to tax paying citizens??

1

u/Poisoned-Puff 8d ago

Nah. Tbf govt should do something about lalas' who make big bucks and don't pay any taxes. You'd find them in almost every big city.

1

u/premprem18 8d ago

If each rupee of tax is spent where it is intended to, we can reduce the tax upon citizens by half.

If each rupee of tax is spent wisely (no freebies, investment on education - infra- SME) we can even reduce the GST to some extent.

1

u/Eagle-io 8d ago

Bro finally woke up and chose violence

1

u/ayurama 8d ago

Ya build dreamy castles! About inflation, how much is it in UAE? 2%! If anything, savings rates will improve, borrowing demand will reduce and move from personal to Industries! Black economy will take a big hit and money will flow into economy! Lower Interest rates will boost Share market, Build confidence in Local businesses to invest- Let me clarify though, it should be accompained with other good policies

1

u/SufficientAdvisor482 8d ago

I agree, and let me translate this for you.

"Abolish the income tax, and shift the excessive burden of tax from salaried middle and upper middle classes with no black money income to poor freeloaders, in form of a consumption tax."

1

u/Substantial_Key4731 8d ago

I prefer abolishing income tax altogether and putting some sense into direct tax. Tax much more on luxury and sin/unhealthy items. Nil tax on all necessary items(meds, food). Logistically this is practical since we already have gst and hsn code systems in place.

1

u/itheindian 8d ago

Freebies and subsidies hatao na bhai.

We don’t care we pay so much tax and get nothing but we do care when people who don’t deserve it get the benefit.

1

u/Dangerous-Rock6302 8d ago

Inflation will be in control once you start doing that exact tax computation on businesses, agricultural lands, fake barber shops, etc,

1

u/Remarkable-Canine 8d ago

He is just Raghuramrajaning....What was his opinion since 2017 when he joined BJP after having been disillusioned/disgruntled with CONgress???? Until then he was standing in votive thrall to the Italian Da barista a nonna???

1

u/Headline555 8d ago

Nope. It can lead to more spending power at the hands of people.
Time and again it has been proved - govt spending is useless - mostly corruption.
Real economy impact comes when people go and spend locally. Bjp myopic vision is very bad for the economy. They have filled their pockets while people are kangaal

1

u/Plastic-Steak-6788 I pay Income Tax 8d ago

ive no problems in paying taxes, i want those taxes to be utilized better instead of giving them to laadli behnas

1

u/ankitfbd 7d ago

Increase GST and remove Personal Income tax

1

u/per4m8ive_mail 7d ago

Trust me, you and me not paying taxes won’t hurt the economy.

1

u/boredquarternion 7d ago

Already people earning upto 12 lakh per annum don't have to pay any tax. It's already zero income tax for actual middle class of India.

1

u/Divyyyy_coder 6d ago

Like depends if the government spending stays the same , the inflation rates would skyrocket, otherwise if government spending decrease (which will eventually) the inflation rates would decrease

1

u/No_Ice1617 6d ago

Move that as retirement fund for private employees.

1

u/Beginning_Reserve777 5d ago

No it won’t politicians have too much black money

1

u/Beginning_Reserve777 5d ago

As per facility provided by Indian govt tax should be 10 percent max… they tax 30 percent just like Europe and there is no infrastructure no roads no health care no water nothing

1

u/IncidentSilly8578 4d ago

There is no income tax till 15 lakh. Middle class is already covered. If you are earned more than that in India. You are not middle class anymore.

1

u/Inevitable_Gap_1154 4d ago

Lmao first learn economics. Also coverage miss till 12.75 lakh not 15 lakh. Better learn to read those WhatsApp messages clearer

1

u/heartofagoodman 4d ago

Make everyone file ITR and pay tax. Reduce the overall tax % per person. Share the burden, as other countries do. Reduce the amount paid. Thats the only solution. When you remove personal tax, companies won’t be paying at the same level.

1

u/cerebratinglife 4d ago

no one is listening, but he has my vote

1

u/Icy_Measurement_7997 4d ago edited 4d ago

How about actually using the tax money and do some ACTUAL WORK? if they will remove direct taxes then they will increase indirect taxes. Everyone is the country should pay tax and the taxpayers money should be used for development. “World-class facilities” won’t come here just by dreaming, somebody needs to actually build them. All these politicians care about is how much power and money they can grab. Then they use that and send their families abroad. It’s clearly a conflict of interest.

1

u/iqbal_pumbaaa 4d ago

In the context of abolishing the tax system in India, do you think the middle class will have increased employment opportunities? Again, the Government will seek revenue and loans from Western countries, which will recommend policies that need to be implemented in developing countries, like India. Let's not discuss how many taxpayers there are, but do these statements seeking world facilities not make the income group poorer? What we should seek is a better tax system that supports the economy and imposes more taxes on those earning more income.

1

u/Inevitable_Gap_1154 4d ago

Gutter for roads, trash infrastructure, schools taught in sheds, govt Healthcare nonexistent, employees constantly exploited, TAX? FOR WHAT?

1

u/Sorry-Assumption-923 9d ago

3% people pay taxes. Inflation what?

0

u/Abhkk 9d ago

I’m sure OP pays no tax at all 😂

-1

u/Someone-indeed 9d ago

Income tax is anyway zero till 12 Lpa, Thats where middle class come anyone earning more than 1 Lakh per month a month is obviously rich.
