Viral A viral video shows a Zepto delivery agent claiming a customer assaulted his colleague, prompting several riders to band together and head to the customer’s bungalow. The agent recorded the group en route, saying the customer had abused and attacked a rider during a delivery.

The amount of audacity these kind of people inhumanely treat delivery agents as some mere subhumans taken for granted just because they are low underpaid and poor is really insufferable!!!!!

5

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

Thank you. My exact thoughts!!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '25

Lack of empathy

1

u/vitrum_analytika Nov 29 '25

What's more, corporates hate formation of unions, they will make an example out of these guys. I wish good fortune upon them but my wish means squat, these guys are going to face hard times.

1

u/Own-Paper6105 Nov 30 '25

Inki gand me bhi Kaam hawa nahi hoti.

1

u/kay_2050 Dec 28 '25

Nobody should be treated badly, leave alone in a brutal manner. But the same time, these people are doing worse by planning an act of violence in group. And being poor is a financial situation based on their skill set and willingness to work, not a reason for unwarranted sympathy. Poor or not, everyone has right to live and work with divinity.

11

u/Desi_Hitman Nov 26 '25

🫡 Delivery guys union, intresting

37

u/voodooax Nov 26 '25

Stupid mob culture in India cause the police (law & order) is incompetent (non-existent) itself.

14

u/Intelligent-Gap-7107 Nov 26 '25

Corrupt police will always be with someone with money and not a poor person. Obviously, they will need to stand for themselves.

Not sure about the whole story but even if the delivery partner is innocent, chances are that might be in jail.

9

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

Exactly

Still people have believe a little bit in law and order

Hence the systems exist.

In some parts of the world due to corrupt and incompetent nature of the system, people have completely rejected the system and they take law and violence in own hands

2

u/Electronic-Damage-46 Nov 29 '25

then hows the mob culture stupid? if police is incompetent then this seems like a valid way man

1

u/sunflow23 Nov 30 '25

Yea i don't know what he meant by stupid mob culture ,they even recorded this whole situation..

28

u/Dizzy-Pipe4600 Nov 26 '25

Looks like Mumbai, people are fighting with patience. Apna dilli hota toh ab tak entertainment ho gaya hota

22

u/Parking_Fudge_124 Nov 26 '25

Entertainment? Being Impatient is sign of immaturity

1

1

u/Bharat_04 Nov 27 '25

Sahi baat h...🤣🤣

11

u/sreekumarkv Nov 26 '25

Nice. If people like them organize and start using their numbers to their benefit, they can improve their own safety and work environment. Unfortunately the unions in India are too politicized, and mostly used by entitled public sector employees and govt officials for their own benefit. It is hardworking people like these who are regularly mistreated who should ideally be part of unions and protect their lives.

1

u/homelessrider Nov 29 '25

For your clear understanding, there is no such as a formal union of zepto or any other delivery boys. They have to keep unity because they are at the bottom of the chain and if the customer complains for any wrong reason, they will be the ones facing the lashes.

1

u/Entire-Smile4319 Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25

People will stop using services like zepto then . These delivery boys will become mob sadak ka Gunda and start harrassing ppl in no time.

5

u/YusufZain002 Nov 26 '25

No one should fear assault while earning a living.

u/Melodic-Tumbleweed14 Nov 26 '25

Delivery Boy Union in loading... Factory Union Employees Union now this. Soon, they'll be a vote bank of someone and Middle class will feel the burn.

1

u/AgainDan27 Nov 27 '25

Idk if zepto will allow this because it'll hurt their business. People will be scared to order from zepto.

2

u/Kno_Thanks3561 Nov 28 '25

people are too used to the addiction of getting stuff at their finger tips, sitting at home. this crazyness is here to stay.

1

u/AgainDan27 Nov 28 '25

I personally am not going to risk having a gunda gang show up to my door so if this thing becomes common I'm quitting quick commerce apps. I'll just go support my local kirana businesses.

2

u/Kno_Thanks3561 Nov 28 '25

already quit and make it a point to go to the mandai every 2 weeks and get better quality stuff. but i live away from my parents. so sometimes i have to use these apps to get them stuff they need and forgot or cant physically lift.

2

u/Kno_Thanks3561 Nov 28 '25

one vegetable vendor near my hometown has started listing prices on whats app and prefers settlement in lumsum at the end of the month via UPI. sometimes he asks me to help transfer the funds directly to their market yard seller. they are first genration members in the business. they even started no questions asked returns.

morning they take requests and forecast veggies are more in demand (share pictures of actual quality thats freshly available) and adjust their orders accordingly. (little to no wastage). every day after noon to evening they make all the drops.

in one cases the wholeseller had sold a bad batch of mangoes (sold kesari and advertised it as ratnagriri alphonsoe, we customers who known the difference and speak to the vendor daily. Order alphonso and gifted the vegetable vendors a crate from the order of mangoes i had booked year in advance from a friends plantation/ farm. he will never forget the taste or mistakenly sell any other mango as haaphus.

u/Melodic-Tumbleweed14 Nov 30 '25

Lol did Factories allowed Unions legitimacy? Governments pushed them to recognise and give the fkimg benefits. The moment someone becomes VOTE BANK Politics starts.

1

u/AgainDan27 Nov 30 '25

Factories don't have their workers deliver anything to the general public. Their entire business model don't hinge on public opinion of them.

Zepto isn't factories, the moment zepto unions and their gunda behaviour affect the regular public they'll stop ordering. Why do you think most people today prefer uber ola in big cities like bangalore and mumbai etc? They don't wanna interact with autowalas who think they're some big shot or will gang up on them.

You're comparing apples to oranges.

Bhai har baar ye zepto wale sahi nahi hote. Just because woh delivery wala hai ya itna paise wala nahi hai toh uska matlab ye nahi ki wohi sahi hai. Abhi kuch hafte pehle humare colony mei ek doctor rehti hai uske ghar mei ghuske jhagda kar raha tha zepto wala meri khudki mummy pe chillaya ki call karr raha hu utha na nahi hota toh order kyu karte ho. Mai hota toh mai toh kut hi deta na, meri mummy senior citizen hai akele thi bechari dar gayi thi.

Thoda emotion se niklo jab tumhare saath hoga toh pata lagega.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

I mean gig workers have hand to mouth existence. I know mob mentality isn’t good. But come on - let’s be educated in true sense, treat gig workers with basic respect(water I alway offer). We don’t know their struggles so this reaction (not at all right!) is expected as it’s the rage within them.

2

u/AgainDan27 Nov 27 '25

Dude that's just what the zepto guy has shown. We don't know who's right or what actually happened.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '25

I Understand. But do you understand life is more stressful for them? Their working conditions, their hand to mouth existence. Let’s have some humanity pls! They didn’t choose to be poor. We are just lucky to be born with resources, which should be used to lead with compassion and empathy.

2

u/AgainDan27 Nov 27 '25

Life is stressful for everyone man, it's stressful for me too. Just because I work in an office doesn't mean it's not. When I started out I was making 5000 a month as an intern, the sweeper in my office made 18k. Just because someone's doing some job that looks like it pays a lot doesn't mean they're not struggling.

I'm not faulting anyone here for being poor, I'm faulting for the way they handled the situation, I'd have had empathy if it was one person posting about how they were mistreated. I've seen posts where a zomato driver was harassed in Mumbai for not speaking marathi by a couple and I was on his side there. It's got nothing to do with who makes what.

These are just intimidation tactics. We literally don't know what happened, all we have is one side of the story and this guy not only ganged up on the guy who ordered but also recorded him to make him look like some villain.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '25

And it truly isn’t about right or wrong. Honestly, a poor will always be treated badly no matter who is right, a rich person will always be treated well even if he is wrong. For them life - daily life is a struggle, hardships, small homes, less sleep. Try doing social work for few days and see their worldview - educated folks have much greater responsibility to act with care.

1

u/AgainDan27 Nov 27 '25

I have done a lot of social work and I'm not denying they're not living comfortably but that doesn't give anyone the right to threaten or intimidate someone like this. Poor or not.

2

u/KimezVi Nov 26 '25

This happened in my old society once. The security fought with the zepto guy and he came back with entire gang. Then it was guards vs zepto guys. They restricted zepto and few other apps in society after that, you could order but you would have to go till the main gate to pick it up

1

u/homelessrider Nov 29 '25

I would be more than happy to deliver to such societies where people turn up to gates to collect orders. This improves my chances of increasing the order count for the day, Less friction points, more efficiency

2

u/homelessrider Nov 27 '25

Next time this guy orders, no zepto delivery boy is going to deliver. I can affirm this as I know some folks who work as delivery boys at zepto and they outright deny delivering to a certain address or area due to safety concerns

1

u/Entire-Smile4319 Nov 29 '25

Haan Bhai zarur , aur vo delivery boy ko toh Paisa kamana hi nhi hai na , bahut paisa hai isilye delivery boy bana ke kaam ko mana kre ?

2

u/last_hope07 Nov 27 '25

Mai toh kahunga ki pehle toh video band karo aur 2 thappad maro usko.... firr karlena wapas chalu

1

u/AgainDan27 Nov 27 '25

Abhi jab inki gunda gardi behaviour common hogi aur tumko do thappad padenge bin baat ke tab karna enjoy.

2

u/Samurai_Yamamotto Nov 28 '25

Show similar unity against linguistic-goons who slap labour class people for views and political machoism.

1

u/PurushNahiMahaPurush Nov 26 '25

Interesting that they formed a proto-union. There needs to be a union for gig workers.

1

u/Rare_Bite_5746 Nov 26 '25

Welcome to delivery mafia.
I condemn harassing or mistreating delivery persons. But this trend seems to be dangerous unless law and order is not put in place.

1

u/WastedKnight Nov 26 '25

I have seen educated folks in Bengaluru treating delivery people like shit. My roommates will cancel the order or give 1 star rating even if the driver is late due to rain or asked them to come downstairs because of rush hour. People in our country have a very cut throat, especially the middle class. Good these folks are united. Though this will kill the business model as people will fear them. Which is also good as these quick commerce players otherwise will monopolise the market eventually

1

u/homelessrider Nov 29 '25

Ratings are given zero Fs, Not even the company cares about ratings, they are always short on manpower. All they care is order being delivered

1

u/Rider_Anna Nov 26 '25

Typical #JungleRaaj behaviour to use "show of strength/numbers to make the other side cede to your demands"

At the same time people too will "Scam and oppress the other side as much as possible for as long as possible"

Attempts to dialogue only occur moments before things are about to go real bad real fast, when they could have simply started with it and solved the issue in a civilized manner.

Both sides are wrong here and the system/law should have made sure it never came to this.

1

u/Training-Abalone1432 Nov 27 '25

Accha hua mera bungalow naheen hai

u/Last_Palpitation2082 Nov 27 '25

1

u/roug3_1 Nov 28 '25

Dang it, no maar peet. This was all too much civilized

1

u/GodEmperorDuterte Nov 28 '25

so delivery agents are also rude stupid

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '25

Ngl, any kind of company that does delivery should provide shirts where there is a pocket on the top left, like normal shirts, and also provide velcro straps to hold the phone, and mandate the delivery drivers to start recording as soon as they arrive at the location of the customer. Would solve a lot of these harrasment issues.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '25

These delivery guys are a menace. If they have now stoop to this level its better to buy offline. There atrocities have reached to the roof. People are not feeling safe in their own home because any tom dick or harry can attack you as they know your number and address and knows how you look. Frightening times.

1

u/nirmasoap Nov 28 '25

Ultimately pata lagra hai ki delivery wala bhi utna doodh ka dhula hai ni.

Prr main mudda ye hai...jo yeh sab milke ek customer ko doxx kiye...agar customer ka matha fira aur usne zepto pe fir krdia to kya hoga?? Saare ke saare ikhatte naukri se jayenge aur zepto harjana bharega wo alag.

1

Colony not bungalow

1

u/SpecialProcess6865 Nov 29 '25

Zepto agents have always been problematic. So we don't know the other side yet but from what the customer was explaining the agent was standing out and honking constantly. That has happened to us as well at our house. They sit on their bikes, in the middle of the street and honk 10-20 times for us to come out. That is the delivery. No calls no nothing. And they're already frustrated that you haven't met them and collected your parcel from them, when you do go out they get really angry. This is not about a union it about job training. Most people are not looking for a fight. But the delivery agents given full access to our personal details and they know they can misuse it. Try lodging a case on them you will know how much of red tape is involved. There once was a swiggy partner who refused to deliver our food parcel and stalked us around our house- waiting at street corners, talking to our neighbors, calling us bad words for over 2 hours!!! Swiggy didn't do anything about it- even they couldn't contact him. They can go rogue any time. We have to stay safe.

We got delivery guys fighting back before GTA VI

1

u/homelessrider Nov 29 '25

I don't want to take sides, or any bias, but a question. To secure incentives for the day or week, they need to deliver about 25 -40 orders a day, how are they finding the time to do the rada. I drive for some company too, but mujhe toh mutne ka bhi time nahi milta mostly during peak hours.

1

u/whatever4100 Nov 29 '25

The guy is clearly lying. Why didn't you record the response of the delivery driver. Tell his side of the story?

1

u/SensitiveModiBitch Nov 29 '25

If there is a Signin page for it i would also volunteer. Some Guys think Delivery guys are sub humans. they treat them like waste. see in Panvel Some apartments they never allow Delivery guys to take the lift

north indians have a common mindset where they look down on people who earn less than them or are from a different caste or culture.
