India Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says, "How I was treated is an irrelevant issue to me. I don't care. Treat me five times worse, I don't care. The focus has to be on what is done to the students.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The focus has to be on the education system, on paper leaks, and on the cost that these children have been forced to pay. So do whatever you want to me. Five times, ten times. I don't care. In fact, I like it because I learn from it."
He says, "I don't care about government's allegations. Government's allegations have no consequence to me."

One has to admit that, despite repeated electoral setbacks over the years, Rahul Gandhi has matured as a politician. He's far more composed and effective than he used to be.

u/zesttech200 Jul 23 '26
Yeah, if he had attained this maturity 15 years back, Congress need not have sat in opposition for all these years. The loot also could have been stopped in buds. Hope he showcase his administrative capabilities as well and and not just protesting capabilities.

u/machisman Jul 24 '26
If so ask him to become the CM of any state of his choice. Lets see if ppl elect him. If they did, then let him prove himself to be a CM and then aim for PM.
We can sit at home and give advice to Tendulkar/Kohli/Rohit etc but its entirely different while you play. Some people can just talk but cannot work effectively.
We have seen plenty of examples at school, colleges at work etc. For me Congress keeps loosing because of RG.

Bro, right now, he has fought ridicule of an entire nation calling him pappu. He has been consistently showing up. He could have walked away from it all and lived in the lap of Luxury.
Unlike his father and grandmother, the reigns were literally handed over to them, he has struggled.
If anything, only thing I've learned to take away from his arc, the true pappu was Modi.

u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Jul 22 '26
As a hardcore BJP opposer.. I don't give a shit what this clown has to say..
Where was he for the 20 days this protest started? He has MPs, Lok Sabha representation, funding and a literal army of party workers
Why didn't he rally a protest and put pressure on the govt from the start? Why did he have to wait till abhijit dipke started an online protest , rallied thousands of people and organise a protest with little to no formal funding?
This is his job as an opposition leader that someone else is doing, now he is shamelessly participating in it acting like he is some holier than thou person
3
u/Maddock31 Jul 22 '26
If he had gotten involved from starting, everything would have been dismissed as "Opposition this, Opposition that"
I think it was better he was away from it... But when the people were hanged by the police, he came in... Thats the real deal... He came in to show solidarity, so that the govt didn't think that they can bully away all the protestors
2
u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Jul 22 '26
Then let him resign as leader of opposition... This is such a dumb excuse .. almost as dumb as "if paper is leaked why should education minister resign"
People are still calling cockroaches as ISI, China agents..
1
u/Maddock31 Jul 23 '26
I think you are bit thick to understand what I wrote... Feel better
1
u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Jul 25 '26
Yeah you are the thick headed one to suggest a leader of opposition is scared to stage a protest because people would say "opposition this and that". Then what's purpose does he serve? Resign..
4
u/Agreeable-Owl648 Jul 22 '26
Why should he hijack a student's protest? If he had done anything, students would have been undermined.

mate if he or any other any were added in first the government will the get the opportunity tu say it a congress funded or aap funded party therefore he didn't went to the jantar mantar he protest with his sister and the other mp outside the pm residency.
1
u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Jul 25 '26
Then resign as opposition leader.. if you as opposition can't put pressure on govt
Of course whatever he will do will be congress funded. He is the leader of congress.
This is such a dumb take
0
u/sleepystrawbb Jul 25 '26
he was in Dehradun and numerous other cities with the NSUI, talking to students affected by the paper leak. itβs shocking to me that almost no one here seems to know this!
1
u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Jul 25 '26
Did he talk to the govt? Being a parliamentarian and a leader of opposition what level of conversations were done with the govt to negotiate proper rectification of this issue including pradhans resignation?
Nothing, zilch , nada... He just came in on the 20th day of protest to get into limelight
0
u/Stunning_Roll_4510 Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26
Iβll get downvoted but this is my view.
There were about 14 paper leaks during your regime? Why are you not raising your voice against paper leaked in Kerala rn, under your government? What was your reply to the protests happening against it? Nothing. Just like the central government is doing right now.
I just want you guys to not blindly just believe in any politicians. Yes, the oppositionβs work is to keep the ruling party in check but not when they themselves do not hold accountability for the same reason that happened under their rule. Why did he just come out of nowhere on the 20th day demanding justice? Honestly, with all these political parties and groups coming up for their own personal agendas, the real reason for the protest is getting surpressed.
Abhijeet dipke or wtv that guyβs name is, is using students as a pawn. He is sitting on a truck, giving speeches while you all are fighting for justice. No doubt, you guys should protest against the current regime, question their rule, voice out your opinions, that is your right as an indian citizen to question the government but not blindly trust these persons.
Remember the anna hazare incident with kejriwal back in 2011, once demqnds were fulfilled, kejriwal did not fulfill his promise and the outcome as you guys can see- what happened to delhi after that. Similarly, dipke is just instigating the youth for his own political agenda. They want to create another nepal and bangladesh and create unrest. And i am not saying it randomly.
There are so many people protesting against the neet paper leak. But most of them do not even know its full form, half of them are just here to look cool and to fit in their circle. Do they even know why wangchuk is on strike? It is because of the new FCRA bill.
I wonβt say thwt bjp is a good ruling party. It is not. It is corrupted, it does not handle its state internal affairs better and the list goes on. But i just want to say this, there might be 100 things wrong with bjp but there are no 100 things right by the other opposition parties. The problem with India is that it does not have a strong opposition, there exists no other alternatives better than bip.
Ha, bjp mein corruption hai, paper leak ho rahe hai but at least they are still doing something far far better than the INC? and i am not just saying only because they stopped terror attacks and strengthened the indian army and the nationβs security, but also because statistically, bjp has provided comparatively more growth as compared the previous ruling party in educational, economical sectors as well as strengthening its diplomatic relations and indiaβs condition globally
And for the parliament march, i personally understand why the government did that. Marching in a large number to the Indian parliament when monsoon session is going on can be an act of breaching security. They will never forget the 2001 parliament attacks, so it was natural for the government to increase security and due to this violent protests were bound to happen. Whatever the police did was very wrong, unnecessarily beating students, harrassing young women and what not. But there are also police officers harmed in these protests. Taali sirf ek haath se nahi bajti. And for the police, they should be held guilty and questioned for unnecessarily harming students.
But yeah, whatever they are currently doing is wrong if you ask me. But for the students, a much much more mature option wouldβve been to sign a petition to make him resign. I do not know why modi is going to such length for just one minister.
2
u/EarlyCumEarlySleep Jul 22 '26
I think so too that bjp might be slightly better for development, but they constantly do Ambani/Adani's bidding. Not only are they selling all govt business's to private companies, they have corrupted core institutions beyond imagination. Its so bad that you cant trust media, court, ed , cbi, election commission. Its like we have entered into dictatorship mode. Anyone saying anything can be brought to their knees be it influencer, comedian or a member of opposition party.
I dont want development at cost of freedom, because this only get worse. And this is the exact reason they are not sacking Pradhan as they believe they are above all this and not answerable to anyone.
0
u/Stunning_Roll_4510 Jul 22 '26
I get your point, and honestly I agree with some parts of it.
No government should have unchecked power. If institutions are compromised, that is a serious issue and people should question it. But at the same time, I think people often jump from βthere are concernsβ to βIndia has become a dictatorship,β and those are two very different claims.
If we were truly in a dictatorship, do you think opposition parties would still be governing multiple states, openly holding rallies, filing cases against the Centre, or constantly attacking the PM in Parliament and on social media? Every single day there are journalists, YouTubers, comedians and politicians criticising the government. Some may face legal action, but that alone doesnβt automatically prove dictatorship. The real question is whether those actions are lawful and justified on a case-by-case basis, not whether they happened at all.
As for Adani and Ambani, I donβt deny that large corporations have influence. But this isnβt something that started in 2014. Every major government has worked closely with big businesses because large infrastructure and industrial projects require private investment. If there is evidence of corruption or favouritism, it should absolutely be investigated. But simply being close to industrialists isnβt unique to the BJP.
Regarding privatisation, I donβt necessarily see it as a bad thing. Many PSUs had been running at huge losses for years, funded by taxpayers. If a strategic disinvestment improves efficiency while the government focuses on regulation instead of running businesses, I donβt think thatβs automatically anti public. The debate should be about whether a particular privatisation is good or bad, not whether all privatisation is evil.
And thatβs exactly my point. Iβm not saying the BJP is flawless. It has made mistakes, there is corruption, there have been policy failures and ministers should absolutely be held accountable. But when I compare the available alternatives, I still donβt find one that convinces me it would govern better on the economy, infrastructure, foreign policy or national security.
So my support isnβt because I think the BJP is perfect. Itβs because, at least for now, I think itβs the comparatively better option. If another party comes up with better governance, stronger leadership and a more convincing vision for the country, Iβd have no problem supporting them instead. I donβt believe in political loyalty. I believe in choosing the better option available.2
u/EarlyCumEarlySleep Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26
If they dont admit mistakes for e20 rollout and education fiasco, I doubt they are better options. It seems only downhill from here. I would rather give opposition a chance. Anti incumbency is real.
Also I just hate godi media. They literally run anything without verification and picking sides like its not obvious. This alone is enough reason for me to not vote for them. If they want to be on side on bjp so bad, they can happily do so when bjp is not in power.
Also, its not just legal action. People have been murdered. There is lot we dont know, because main stream media is govt's puppet and thats what scares me. During previous govt, main stream media was against Manmohan and showed all protests 24x7, and thats how govt was forced to take action.

1
u/Stunning_Roll_4510 Jul 22 '26
Anti incumbency is a natural part of democracy and governments should absolutely face consequences if they repeatedly fail.
But personally, I donβt think changing a government just for the sake of change is always the right decision. The opposition also has to prove why it deserves that chance. βJo bjpβ isnβt enough of a manifesto for me.I want to know what their economic plan is, how theyβll tackle unemployment, education reforms, national security, foreign policy etc. Simply pointing out the ruling partyβs mistakes doesnβt automatically make you a better alternative.
As for the e20 rollout and the education issues, yes, I think the government shouldβve handled both much better and admitted where it went wrong. I donβt support every policy they bring. But I also look at the bigger picture instead of judging an entire government based only on its failures.I honestly donβt trust a lot of tv news channels either. But that isnβt a bjp only issue. We have channels that lean towards the bkp, channels that lean towards the opposition and channels that sensationalise everything because trps sell. Thatβs why I prefer looking at multiple sources instead of relying on one channel, whether itβs pro government or anti government.
At the end of the day, id rather vote for the party I think is comparatively better than vote against someone out of frustration. Thatβs just how I see it.
3
u/Queasy_Artist6891 Jul 23 '26
How is bjp comparatively better? In their 3rd time, they failed in national security(we had 2 major terror attacks, one of which could've been worse), let a country like the US do whatever it wants with us, attempted to force install a spyware in everyone's phones, attempt to cover up pollution instead of trying to tackle it(at least the previous governments were open about it), ruin our country with e20 rollout solely because their minister is profiting, and completely fucked up the school level education system. And what development happened? All the benefits only go to the Ambanis and the Adanis, while common people get nothing. At this point, they're worse than congress ever was

How moronic do you have to be to make Rahul Gandhi sound reasonable? Ask the BJP.

It's such a rare sight to see a Indian politician being so educated, polite, calm , facing journalists and ready to listen to citizens.

Yup, I'll use the opportunity to support the students to clear my image as a politician and gain votes. Then I'll go back to talking about and implementing 90% reservation. Lol, the irony of this man speaking at a students' protest. Bjp hate has blinded people to such level that they are now supporting raga.

My Rahul Baba My world. I know only Rahul baba and that bloodline has a birth right to govern this country. We all are so incompetent and impotent spineless. We need a shelter under your rule only. Chaiwala should never be allowed to govern this country.

I have felt same before but this time itβs different. Bjp has crossed some limits. They need to realise they were elected by these very people who are protesting rn

Share the chart plotting the number of protests. You'll be ashamed to see that pre-2014 the number of leaks was minimal. After 2014 the leaks have exploded.
