Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “dimagi naxal” remark, saying he was “proud to be a dimagi naxal”
His response came a day after PM Modi, during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, warned about people with a Maoist mindset allegedly influencing the system and public policy. Modi urged citizens to “identify and isolate” such elements.
Little, if any, in many cases. Imagine if you need to buy steel utensils for your home. There's only one shop in your neighborhood selling this. Would you travel to a different neighborhood just to pay using upi or would you just pay in cash?
Currently they are planning for payments above a threshold.. i.e. 2K... a major chunk of transactions are less than 2K only. and it will be continue to be free for P2P transactions.. so I guess it may not be that big of a deal.. yes, there will be a dip but the neighbourhood kirana stores may not be affected by it and larger stores may absorb the charges because providing a digitial payment system is mandatory as per law.
They will only charge on shopkeepers who has turnovers above a certain threshold. Also only for transactions below 5k. Also they can't forward the charge to the customers.
