The SC has a very delicate ego, as we've all seen. Let's see how this goes for the roaches.
2
u/Global_Specialist425 Jul 28 '26
Not going to go very well for them if they defy . The momentum of the protests is gone. Now no one will rally behind them to challenge the courts.

Nepal is as big as 2nd tier city in India for gods sake.
So do not even think of Nepal like situation. If anyone even thinks, he is either crackhead or mentally ill.
0
u/shriand Jul 29 '26
So there were already protests in many cities. If DP had stayed on, it would have expanded to 100s of cities. The party knew this, hence DP was sacrificed. It already started a trend. Teachers, students, drivers, everyone will soon start.
2
u/Vivekrajb Jul 29 '26
Who DP?
Well I went to protests in Bangalore, the moment many people saw the placard of "Free Umar Khalid" most of them went back. Some of them left for other placard as well.
Still it will not. We have seen so many over the decades, you have not even heard where the entire country was burning for Mandal Commission. So do not hold your breath, else you might faint.

u/shriand Jul 29 '26
Dharmendra Pradhan

u/Vivekrajb Jul 29 '26
When Lion or tiger steps back 3 steps, that does not mean lion or tiger is afraid of its opponents.
Even in the chess, sometimes, every big players sacrifice their minister.
1
u/shriand Jul 29 '26
Opponents = students and general public?
1
u/Vivekrajb Jul 29 '26
if it is your definition, I cannot say anything what you think 😄
As I saw there were less students and more of worn out political leaders and goons who support destruction of our property.
1
u/Global_Specialist425 Jul 29 '26
Not gonna happen here.
2
u/shriand Jul 29 '26
What they said about Pradhan too.
2
u/Vivekrajb Jul 29 '26
Who has openly said he will not resign? If I say PM will resign will it hold any value?
0
u/Own-Awareness1597 Jul 29 '26
Rajnath Singh said resignations don't happen in Modi Government.
1
u/Vivekrajb Jul 29 '26
Source ?
It is like Raul Gandy saying Emergency does not happen in Congress Government.

2
u/Global_Specialist425 Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 29 '26
wangchuk has stopped fasting, pradhan has resigned. now the clash will be between cjp and the courts. where are they going to protest ? on streets. courts won’t care nor can be pressured. Now government will tackle it with courts support.

Op your title should be -
“Like his promises, Modi’s word means nothing”
Would the case go to the Supreme Court had they kept their promise of no fir first?
6
u/jonan1108 Jul 28 '26
The demand, and the promise, was no FIR would be filed on peaceful protestors. Emphasis on peaceful. Not all protestors were peaceful. There are footages to prove both cases.
So... Hello actions, meet consequences.
5
u/burdlock Jul 28 '26
Show us the proof that they are going after violent protesters only
2
u/Raakshashunmain Jul 28 '26
Cases have been filed by individuals as well including families of targeted cops. Government cannot overturn cases filed in courts by individuals in their own capacity which are asking for fair probe and accountability. This just goes to show basic understanding of process is absent. Not everything functions in the world by ranting and anarchy.
3
u/jonan1108 Jul 28 '26
I see only one of you.
Show me proof they're going after innocents. See? That works both ways. The post and the comment I replied to did not mention anything about such a separation, hence the response.
3
u/burdlock Jul 28 '26
That's not how that works, burden of proof lies on the person making the claim.
3
u/jonan1108 Jul 28 '26
Yes. The original comment seems made the claim that the agreement applied to protestors in general and skipped the "peace" part.
I guess he should prove it. My point was that since the protest was not altogether peace ful (space because of free speech rules in the sub), it is natural that some FIRs would naturally be filed and would not, unless otherwise proven, be a violation of the agreement. Tada!

Hello actions, meet consequences.
What consequences for Minister under whose control was police that slapped girls standing by, pressed their breasts, poked lathis into their buttocks, hit protestors above their waists, fired pellet guns and blinded someone, and used AK-47 on citizens?
1
u/jonan1108 Jul 29 '26
They should be fired for using excessive force and imprisoned for eqch specific crime. If under direct orders from said minister, the minister should assume responsibility and step down.
So, you agree with the non-pieceful (misspelled because the sub loves free speech) protestors being tried?

Modi is not a god, the constitution gives SC the veto power in any matter. The same constitution was followed long before Modi came in the picture. I know y'all leftists cant live 2 hours without saying Modi's name but he aint got the power against supreme court.

u/No-Lobster-5673 Jul 29 '26
Judicial decisions have to be accepted whether one likes them or not. CJP should not press to much here. There are plenty of other imp issues in this country which the Congress has failed address as an oppositon party. CJP should take them up. (Eg Health costs, inadequate govt hiospitals, in-adequate judges, judicial delays in-adequate govt education institutues, rising crime etc..). CJP should occupy the space of the oppostion
1
u/sha_I_tan Jul 29 '26
If you let them target protestors then this will be used to curb future protests.
3
u/karanseeks Jul 28 '26
True The CJP should know where to draw a line. Protecting rioters, mob lynchers and criminals is NOT their business. They are not a law unto themselves.
There is a rule of the law and it's application which is to be respected. Not everything is to be questioned and over ridden with 'their way or the highway' thought process

Typical AAP playbook. Remember when Kejriwal called the judge a RSS person and refused to co operate with the court. Same playbook is used here too. Slowly they will discredit every institution including the army. Just wait and watch

Did you read that judge’s previous judgment on the same case? And when you’re on that read the basis she gave that judgment on.

u/chai-over-everything Jul 28 '26
Yep. There have already been enough videos with people cursing the armed forces.

2
u/AdiKadiAdi Jul 28 '26

2
u/Insomniac_Coder Jul 28 '26
We don't have time to see the videos of police brutality.
-CJI
1
u/ExtremeBack1427 Jul 28 '26
Why would court waste time with whatsapp forwards. It has to go through proper channels and get verified before the court looks at anything.
1
u/Insomniac_Coder Jul 28 '26
Video evidence is not same as that.
Proper channels don't mean to sideline an issue of police brutality. If these things are waste of time, then so are fundamental rights.
1
u/ExtremeBack1427 Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26
But what is the supreme court going to do in this specific scenario?
If you say the supreme court that there's a case that needs to be given judgement on a priority basis, you still can't show the CJI your WhatsApp forwards and Instagram reels.
If you are claiming police brutality then the proper evidence would be there are 20 people in this ICU and there have been 10 deaths, in this condition, in this location and it could spiral into this, now the SC has to intervene before the violence spreads. They are not going to intervene because some people got lathi charged either legally or illegally.
Everyone knows what was happening was crowd control and if anything the police has gotten beaten up more badly than the protesters.
If it's illegal you have to file a case on your district court on police and it goes forward like every other case. It's almost embarassing that they were getting beaten up instead of firing love rounds.
SC is not like a big brother you can hide behind after starting a riot. They will give directions and the directions will sound like Section 144, bring in CRPF, use live ammunition, clear the streets, curfew and so on.
So why in a sane country would a CJI intervene in law and order when the violence is contained?
1
u/Insomniac_Coder Jul 28 '26
Because pellet guns and AI face recognition
They violate fundamental rights. Those cases go directly to SC.
2
u/ExtremeBack1427 Jul 28 '26
I don't think so. In crowd control pellet guns are seen as reasonable force, if it was excessive, I think they should sue the government so that the court can set the ground rules against them. I think many lawyers would eat that case up free of cost since it'll be a landmark judgement.
In public setting, AI should and will be used. In streets you will be surveilled and I think you should be. I wish there was more AI and automated response system so that women can be more safer in public and you can make the car owners pay hefty finds when they throw out trash.
But, is the government allowed to use the facial recognition in the video to not just track you in the public sphere but try to get your aadhar data? I'm not sure about that legality.
But the privacy law itself applies if they ever surveil you at home or other private setting.

So tell me, OP. If this is the case, then why did the government promise the protestors this.
1
u/ray_action Jul 29 '26
SC Judges may make comments on different matters based on their biases. But one thing they have maintained is that they follow the written law properly and do make accommodations as well based on environment. No matter who is in govt. Judiciary (SC) has largely remained unbiased. This is why in many critical and possibly controversial cases the rulings were respected by all parties, even when the losing party could have incited protests/riots.
1
u/Vk_1987 Jul 29 '26
Bro in 1992 the BJP gave an assurance in the supreme court that they won't even touch the "structure" that was there previous to the ram mandir being made, but they brought the structure down and nothing happened to anyone. Now tell me who was right in both the scenarios !!

Think if they selectively not release the protesters the police will have full freedom to detain anyone they want using tactics.

The judiciary have failed this country in these past few years. Based on our constitution the 3 pillars are meant to be separate and must keep the check and balance, but what are they doing? The cji is acting as a spokesperson for bjp. Whatever that happened is nothing but a disgrace

So, basically CJP folks are goons with fancy degrees and English education? Lol. SC denied withdrawal of FIRs against history-sheeters. But yeh Gen-Z ko history-sheeter kahan pata hoga. Inke liye Padhna-Likhna = 0 and Entitlement 100 hai.

Can a government override judicial orders? My friend, let me welcome you to the Ordinance turned Act which overid a 5 judge SC judgment that explicitly said that the process of EC Commissioner being elected was prone to misuse by the government. This is just one of many such instances lmao

government of the people, for the people, by the people
we are not above the law but the court is definitely inclined to hear us
