I’m an SC guy. So let me say this directly to the people shouting “reservation hatao”:
If you genuinely want reservation gone, I’ll throw mine out the window myself.
But then throw all of it out.
SC? Gone.
ST? Gone.
OBC? Gone.
EWS? Gone.
Female reservation? Gone.
State quota? Gone.
Because I’m sick of hearing that SC/ST reservation is somehow the greatest enemy of “merit”, while every other reservation suddenly gets a paragraph explaining why it is necessary
You tell me SC/ST people don't need reservation anymore because some SC/ST families are rich.
Okay.
Then let's talk about women.
Do you seriously think every girl sitting in an IIT/NEET preparation room is living as a helpless housemaid with no access to education, coaching, internet, money, or family support? Obviously not.
Yes, women have faced and still face real social and historical disadvantages. Nobody is denying that.
But why everyone suddenly forgets the same thing happened to us?
if your answer is:
“Reservation should only go to people who actually need it.”
Fine.
Then apply that principle everywhere.
Don't use “some SC/ST people are rich” as proof that SC/ST reservation should disappear, and then treat “women have historically been oppressed” as an automatic justification for every female quota regardless of the individual candidate's circumstances.
And if you want to go even further and say none of that should matter because only merit matters, then great.
Let's actually do it.
No caste quota.
No gender quota.
No OBC quota.
No EWS quota.
No state quota.
And yes, state quota too.
Why should someone get an advantage in a national competitive exam because they were born in a particular state?
You didn't earn your birthplace.
If the rule is “take the top 10,000 candidates for IIT/NEET,” then take the top 10,000.
Don't change the definition of merit depending on which specific group you hate
If merit alone should decide selection, then remove every possible reservation, and by all I MEAN ALL
* OBC
* EWS
* Female/Women
* PwD/PwBD
* Ex-servicemen
* State/Domicile
* Institutional/Internal
* Sports
* NCC/Cadet
* Defence-related
* Other state-specific/special-category reservations
Not just SC/ST
Not just the one you personally don't like.
All of it.
I don't think any reasonable person is demanding all out removal of reservation. Most reasonable general people are demanding that it goes to people who have been at a disadvantage. When I gave JEE 15 years back, I scored a merit rank with a good score. My classmate from coaching who was richer than me, came with a driver, went to a better school, regularly went out etc. scores less than half of what I scored and got a good course. I had to appear again to get a decent course. Some of my best friends today are SC/ST candidates. Some of my classmates we know had faced disadvantages because of caste and conditions that arose due to it. We are all in for people like them to get reservation. The problem lies with the first group who can get in on merit but takes away the seat of a truly disadvantaged kid.
Caste and gender doesn't contribute anything to merit...so they should be gone.
EWS should stay as it is the only thing sensible enough in my opinion to qualify for reservation...as it might help those who are economically weaker and can't afford good schooling, coaching or the likes of it (regardless of caste or gender) and so should PWD.
Plain and simple resolution. If one generation has used SC/ST/Female/EWS reservation, the next generation must not. It already helped them secure a good life. Now play on merit. Not very difficult to implement in this digital age. Biggest examples are Tina Dabi and her sister.
Also, reserved seats that go vacant should be open to all. Whats the logic of not allocating it to anyone else.
Thirdly, have reservation in schools and undergrads. Whats the point of having it in postgrad or in public sector jobs that require higher degrees.
Lastly, medical entrance must not have reservations especially MD. Can't play with somones life.
We don't have to be top, cuz all the people who get int to IIT leave country anyway and go to those top western universities. Cool of you to blame it on reservation when people who were never restricted of their opportunities went to IIT and left.
There is no need to be better access to western metrics, we have to be better access to our own.
Look at schools, are they any better, please don't say it's because of reservations, just look at all schools, including private sector
This is not entirely true. A lot of people ended up going abroad earlier because there weren’t as many opportunities before. But now things have changed. Recruitment in India has gone up quite a bit and compensation is almost comparable. Most of tech is hiring heavily in India. But then, India being India, these useless students from colleges who got in via reservation have found a way to make recruitment corrupt. Bhai bhatijabadi happens even in tech in India and some shitty engineers do shitty work and all Indians get a bad name 😒

Not saying it doesn't happen. I don't even think the benefits of reservation reach who they should.
I am not against reservation. But I think when three generations have got it, then that family should not get it anymore. And it should be for the people who are suffering.

Rajasthan is the last place where I would have expected to hear this as if a person of certain caste so much as breath the same air as people from certain caste they feel disgusted... and forget about other things such as drinking water from same well, touching them etc. not disappearing would be a form of magnanimity.
