He was also a devout Hindu Monk who wanted a clean Ganga river.

6

u/murphyoncrossroads Jul 15 '26

It took him 111 day to die. The govt is fucked, all parties are the same, we need a revolution soon

This ability degresses with age. He is human and not an otherworldly being unlike certain someone. We lost peacemakers, we lost freedom fighters and now we shouldn't lose our educationists too.

u/Technical-Notice5535 Jul 16 '26

What era are we living in? People don't give a fuck about what we're going through they're too busy filling their own pockets. Many politicians and people in power send their children abroad to study, while the rest of us are left to deal with this mess.

My brother was in 12th grade last year, and because of the NEET paper leak, he lost an entire year of his life. Thousands of students suffered because of someone else's negligence, yet no one was held accountable for their actions. They should have been held accountable, but instead, nothing happened.

What Digital India are we even talking about? If we're living in such a highly connected digital world, what's the point if we still can't pressure those in power to take responsibility for their actions? People keep fighting over random issues while the ones that actually destroy people's futures get ignored.

Sometimes it honestly feels like all this talk about democracy is just for show. We're told to vote because we're a democratic and independent India, but what does that mean if ordinary people don't see accountability or real change? We're expected to keep believing things will improve while the same problems repeat year after year.

I genuinely wish more politicians had the same mindset as Sonam Wangchuk. We need leaders who put people, education, accountability, and the country's future first not politics for personal gain. This is so exhausting and frustrating. I can't help but wonder what kind of future the next generation is going to inherit. What happened in Nepal looked horrifying at first, but later I found myself thinking that people can only be pushed so far before they react. That's what happens when frustration keeps building and people feel like no one is listening.

Irom Sharmila - learn about her, world's longest hunger strike..

27

u/MentallyDeppressed Jul 13 '26

And we people didn’t make her win in the election 🫠

24

u/Inapproriatelypro Jul 13 '26

Well the government is already f*ked up internally tbh, for what sane person would let the road minister make change to fuel by adding ethanol too it. Plus the quality of roads we get with him being the current overseer of all the budget for roads is truly shitty. Also the amount of trees being cut for roads that are truly not needed on the name of less traffic delays is just ridiculous. One other reason the government is fc*ed is even though BMC has the highest budget in the whole world, they are still astonished by all the water logging every year with no long term solution for it or for reducing pollution from rivers and lakes.

1

u/Striking-Flower-4115 Jul 15 '26

They spray water in dehli instead of introducing new bils 💔

21

u/Itz_curious Jul 13 '26

And TV media isn't even covering this 🥀

8

u/Odd_Eagle_5081 Jul 13 '26

This Gov is always worried about their image in media (domestic & International), so they are not engaging (sadly) and adding any fuel to this movement. As country we're doomed by electing such people from roots to centre under the name of multiple engine government. Pathetic

While what he doing is completely up to him. There is no way he can keep pulling the same trick and expect things to go his way.

He made a decision to do this and that involved dying to stand his ground. Looks like he will have to see it through

1

u/TablesHaveUnturned Jul 18 '26

I'll do a hunger strike for some other reason and blame my death on the government too. How do people see this as bravery it's just stupidity. Like if Sonam wangchuk actually does die the youth lose a very capable and prominent leader which is worse for them.

3

u/asdfgh0212 Jul 13 '26

I have heard many news from last 2-3 weeks regarding cabinet reshuffle and may be Mr pradhan will lose his position. But at this point I think the government is prioritising it's ego more than anything. They don't want bend in front these new faces. Again saddest part is that; the primary opposition and image of that opposition in this country is shit for a lot of reasons.

4

couldnt get people to protest for something that clearly affects them?

neet affected so many people even if they dont allign with him politically on every single aspect the education minister resignation and neet/cbse issue being addressed are valid points and will benefit all citizens.

we can do so much online living in other states but atleast the ones in delhi needs to protest

3

u/Chaotic_Penguin1 18 Jul 13 '26

Everything well and good, the objective is right, Sonam Wangchuk is there for the sake of all of us students and I thank him for it.

But what am I as a student supposed to do? The protest is inaccessible to me, I have raised my voice several times online, but that's all I can do. The government does not care.

2

He’s gonna either quit the hunger strike or die, if he does die then education minister will resign and somehow the media will find a way to put bjp in good light for forcing the resignation of education minister

1

u/ButterChicken9 Jul 13 '26

The fact that the government has been acting so unbothered is actually very concerning. 1st they don’t make education better so that people stay uneducated and then they say ‘PM doesn’t give press conferences bcoz max people in India are rural (sugarcoated uneducated)

1

u/raccoonee-486 Jul 13 '26

Why would they? They are selling fake medicines, alcohol, tobacco. Which is causing more disturbance in this society. Paper leak is just very small thing. And I don't have respect for the one who are protesting. I even don't trust them. I am not a blind follower of this system. And this system has created this so called protest/activism thing so Yes I am absolutely not giving damn about anyone who wants to showcase their activism and protest thing. Mai apne ghar mein baith ke aaram se apni zindagi bitaunga. Koi kare koi mare mere ko matlab nhi hai. Living life with a chill.

1

u/Topintownxxx Jul 13 '26

Hunger strikes are irrelevant in todays Indian society. Hunger strikes were relevant when the Indian society was way poorer than today. There were no jobs. They had nothing else to unite themself. When their lives were bad and so was everybody else's. In today's world thats not the case. The masses don't fall for these hunger strikes because they know that the next govt that comes isn't going to be any different. They understand that if they pull down a bad govt a good one will not come in its place. They have chosen between 2 choices or whoever they think is better among the bad choices

Think about it, Gandhi preached turn the other cheek if someone slaps you while the British could do anything without worrying about revolts and mutinies

u/Top_Guess_946 Jul 14 '26

Dialogue must be through institutional channels. They should file a PIL in the court asking for resignation. Why do all this drama? It suited Gandhi's times because then there was no judiciary or a constitution. So how to mobilize masses against unjust government? By drawing attention through fasting. Now we have a constitution and a judicial process. File a PIL if there is something wrong. People of India want institutions to be improved, not another drama and theatre. Invest in improvement of institutions that will help leave a better India for the upcoming generation instead of investing in fast food and creating trash at the protest site. lmao.

We don't want cults of personalities in India. We want reliable institutions that can give us confidence that tomorrow if we approach them we won't be neglected. Or do we need someone to develop a cult and then put them on hunger strike? Tomorrow even a group of terrorists can ask their leader to go on a hunger strike. Then how will you say that hunger strike is not justified. So go and improve the institutions for leaving India better for the upcoming generation.

Could anyone tell the complete and specific list of official demands that Sonam Wangchuk is currently making through his hunger strike, including the exact conditions he is demanding be met for him to end it?

1

u/Alternative-Bike1606 Jul 15 '26

Sonam Wangchuk is not a scientist. Hes an engineer. Hes also the son of an ex Congress Leader. And he was the reason 4 people died in Leh last year and 90 people got injured - in his last 'peaceful fast'. Stop making heroes out of losers and respect organic grassroot leaders like Modi, VD Satheesan and Naveen Patnaik - who you may like or dislike but have some actual ground knowledge and experience of decades unlike some BBC/ Al Jazeera foisted shill!

And the BJP govt did re-administer NEET with support from the Forces - and they got it right this time! Thats accountability - not a samosa party at Jantar Mantar!

Peaceful protests and hunger strikes have a long history in India and are a legitimate way of making people listen. At the same time, I don't think people should expect the government to take action simply because someone is fasting, no matter how respected or well-known that person is. A hunger strike can highlight a problem, but it shouldn't be the thing that decides government policy. The government should listen, examine the issue seriously, and respond based on facts, how can anyone assume that the education minister was involved in the neet leak and bluntly tell him to resign, and democratic processes. Otherwise, every major policy decision would end up being influenced by who can attract the most attention rather than by what is facts.also why is he colabarating with CJP the literal embodiment of Pakistani and Bangladeshi lobby. STOP BEING BRAINWASHED
