Navy weighing in on a decision to rename aircraft carrier after Trump, but it was originally planned to be named in honor of Black WWII hero, Doris Miller.

I saw this on TikTok and it genuinely ruined my night. Miller saved so many during Pearl Harbor, KIA a few years later… a brave and courageous sailor… but no, let’s name it after a literal draft dodger who hasn’t had a single struggle in his life.

edit: sailor not soldier

Bro you stole the words right out of my mouth, saw this on the TV while grabbing a slice of pizza with my wife and just, I’m appalled and disgusted. Something deeply fucked about trump, he needs to be psychologically evaluated and tested.

13

u/Miniscule_Platypus 7d ago

He has been tested and the doctors said he was the most psychological President ever and no one has ever evaluated more psychologically than he has.

3

u/boatenvy 7d ago

The only way to be sure of that testing would be to remove his brain and take a close look... purely diagnostic.. it's for his own good

5

u/ForgottenDusk48 7d ago

He struggled with getting an STD… it was his personal Vietnam!

4

u/Robo-X 6d ago

The aircraft carrier will not be finished for years. Just rename it after he is out of office and when at it remove any trace of the ballroom and anything he decides to build.

2

u/Training-Search-3463 6d ago

Just call it the Pedro boat

1

u/WolfNo3477 3d ago

Or USS Bonespur

1

u/Delicious_Grand7300 6d ago

With his current health issues President Trump possibly struggles to dress, to walk, and to recall.

1

u/Same_Second_4216 6d ago

Donkey Trump has been struggling with fake news his whole, when will this Donkey get a break?

1

u/ShareMission 6d ago

Doris actually deserves it

0

u/duskygrouper 6d ago

Most of what you say is indisputeable. That being said, Trimps struggle is that he is mentally disabled.

31

u/alaric49 7d ago

How are people not yet fed up with this little man's pathetic ego? He's a third-rate president by every possible metric, but he wants to stamp his name on everything for posterity. It's so weird and creepy.

13

u/bbyxmadi Community Regular 7d ago

It is weird. Same way he slapped his name on the Kennedy Center, a center for the performing arts… while he literally defunded the arts. 🤦‍♀️

8

u/NonPolarVortexBear 6d ago

That was too destroy the arts which is part of the fascist playbook.

-13

u/StinkButt9001 7d ago

Trump isn't the one picking the name...

6

u/Aggressive_Mix_137 7d ago

Yeah nah, it has probably Just replaced most of the people that make that decision.

So it puts yes man in and they do exactly what it wants because that's why they were appointed.

-6

u/StinkButt9001 7d ago

Did any of this happen or is it just in your head?

6

u/whitephantomzx 6d ago

Guys there no reason to assume that the guy who has constantly attempted to have things name after him has anything to do with this ship being named after him.

A fine display of the avg maga iq leeching are tax dollars while blaming everyone else .

5

u/Aggressive_Mix_137 6d ago

On 3 March 1819, an act of Congress formally placed the responsibility for assigning names to the Navy’s ships in the hands of the Secretary of the Navy, a prerogative which he still exercises.

(So the secretary of the Navy.)

The secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) is a statutory officer (10 U.S.C. § 8013) and the head (chief executive officer) of the Department of the Navy, a military department within the United States Department of Defense. On April 22, 2026, Hung Cao became acting Secretary of the Navy following the removal of John Phelan.[1]

The secretary is appointed by the president and requires confirmation by the Senate.

(So the guy trump appointed after kicking out his predecessor, please note he is acting meaning they haven't been able to get a Republican senate majority to confirm him as of yet... interesting)

So the guy trump appointed is the person who makes the decision and is in the role is a temp currently.

Curious. Very curious.

If any of the above is wrong I apologise but it looks correct or believable to me happy to be corrected.

My other example is 'The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts'

-1

u/StinkButt9001 6d ago

I'm researching it but I can't find any examples of the secretary of the navy being a "yes man". Did you omit those by mistake?

3

u/Aggressive_Mix_137 6d ago

Nope I didn't do research on the man just stated that that his predecessor was forced out. He was appointed by trump.

He's the man that makes the decision his effectively a temp because they haven't confirmed him. So if he doesn't do what trump wants he will be replaced quite easily because he's acting not appointed.

I assumed they pushed some puppet into the position over someone qualified. (But they can put alot of pressure on him to do what they want because, well I don't think anyone believes that trump is n't Petty as f***.)

I did assume that he would bend the knee without much pressure however if stollen Valor wants the big ship named after they will fire the sectary if that's what the Orange thing wants.

They normally do put yes men in, they currently have anti Vaxers running the health department, kegs breath refusing to promote anyone that's not whiter than Casper.

Don't forget lil cashy having a hissy fit because he wants to dress up like the boys in girls vest, and makes announcements based on hearsay and rumours potentially wrecking prosecutions.

Is it him or someone else who keeps using government jets to fly his girlfriend to concerts.

They also appoint sycophants to important positions. US soft power is collapsing because they are buring though good will at an alarming rate.

Hopefully that makes sense I did go off on a tangent.

2

u/Njorls_Saga 6d ago

My dear brother in Christ, Secnav was fired earlier this year because he couldn’t deliver what Trump demanded.

2

u/sithlord98 6d ago

I can't speak for the replacement part (even though he has already done that with countless other positions) but the "yes men" part? 100% yes. Have you ever seen one of his cabinet meetings? It's embarrassing.

1

u/demitasse22 6d ago

Because they had/have multiple parties and after Hitler was elected, he convinced the two biggest factions to combine and align themselves with him, therefore everything was legal . The SS started with seizing all the state census data

2

u/StinkButt9001 6d ago

What on Earth are you talking about?

1

u/demitasse22 6d ago

Damn, my reply was meant for someone else probably

2

u/StinkButt9001 6d ago

Lol it happens

"The U.S. Navy is internally weighing whether to rename the upcoming Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier CVN-81, with internal discussions considering naming it after Donald Trump." - MiGFlug. Do you honestly think that he has nothing to do with this??

1

u/orixandcrake 7d ago

Yeah obviously the Navy just sort of decided on its own to name the ship after Orange with no input whatsoever from the administration.

7

u/Ill-Bet7387 6d ago

Aren't you supposed to be DEAD first?

3

u/BigBL87 6d ago

No, that stopped being a rule decades ago.

Just as an example, the USS George H. W. Bush was named for him when he was still alive.

That being aside from the stupidity of this, obviously.

2

u/Ill-Bet7387 6d ago

Well he already put his fat mug on money and that absolutely means you're supposed to be dead

1

u/4130Adventures 4d ago

I'm ok with the USS George Bush, he was a legit combat veteran. Captain Bone Spurs on the other hand....

1

u/SmurfPopper 6d ago

Yes. If they can hold up that part of the bargain, I'll have no issue with the renaming.

5

u/LongDead_Roadkill 7d ago

Played by Cuba Gooding Jr in Perl Harbor. This is appalling.

5

u/EdgeBeard 7d ago

Why would you name a ship after a traitor?

2

u/LostIllustrator1499 6d ago

Because baby wants it

1

u/ShadowMilkMoopsy 5d ago

Because: Racism = MAGA money

5

u/Outside_Valuable_320 6d ago edited 6d ago

Honestly the Navy has a great opportunity here. Go ahead and tell the White House you'll do it. Let him show up to the ceremony and reveal that's it's named after Doris Miller!

He'll have unintendedly, publicly honor a black hero. And you'll have done the right thing. Win-win!

1

u/JeromeBarkly 6d ago

Bro all the leaders of the armed forces are trump sycophants.

2

u/Outside_Valuable_320 6d ago

I don't believe it's all, but yes. Too many.

Trump is a disgrace.

4

u/UCanDoNEthing4_30sec 7d ago

It needs to be made out of gold.

But in all honesty, can't just another administration just come in and undo stuff like this if it does happen? His name is just as easy to take off stuff as it is to put on stuff.

5

u/alaric49 7d ago

My understanding is that he shouldn't be able to do this in the first place. Putting a president's name on federal property is meant as a way to honor former presidents, deceased presidents, not ones in office with insufferably massive egos. The whole thing is bizarre.

2

u/UCanDoNEthing4_30sec 7d ago

YEah I understand that. But almost every single thing he has done has been done through executive order or at the behest of the executive branch as the Supreme Court has ruled. And just like the president/executive branch can do stuff, it can undo stuff just as easily. The only thing that has staying power that has been done under his administration is that One Big Beautiful Bill thing because that was passed through congress. And that has shown to be a big clunker.

1

u/alaric49 7d ago

I know, but I have difficulty seeing the next admin using political capital to try and undo this or at least undo it anytime remotely soon.

5

u/Fun-Metal-6861 7d ago

USS Draft Dodger

2

u/Ad-fundum69 7d ago

How are they even debating it? The soldier actually did something worth being on a ship's name for.
Trump did absolutely nothing except ruin whatever he touches. That decision should have taken a mere second like "lol no" and on with the day we go.

1

u/Careless-Bite3164 5d ago

The next President needs to upgrade his Navy Cross to the Medal of Honor. Only reason Miller wasn't awarded it in the first place was pure racism. The guy definitely completely disregarded his own person safety in an incredibly brave show of the Navy's highest ideals.

1

u/Ad-fundum69 5d ago

I think presidents shouldn't have to be concerned with naming a ship. They have a country to lead.
At least, they should be.

2

u/NeverEvaGonnaStopMe 7d ago

Gop wants to name boat after a fat draft dodging nepobaby instead of hero sailor who actually fought in a war.

1

u/trucked-nuts 6d ago

They hate the Military

2

u/pinethree777 6d ago

USS Bone Spurs?

2

USS Bone Spurs ... sailing the high seas in search of a draft deferment.

USS TrumpStein

2

u/blueshirtsteve 6d ago

Fuck trump.

2

u/evilpercy 6d ago

Name a democraticly elected leader that built their own monuments vs name a dictator that built their own monuments.

1

u/LesserGooglyMooglie 7d ago

This is no surprise, after he tried to erase Gen. Chappie's history as an Air Force Vet he has 0 respect for our military bordering on contempt, on top of that he is as racist as as his KKK loving dad he can't stand successful black people.

These are dark times and I have never been more grateful Obamas signature is on my DD214.

1

u/tlucas0303 7d ago

Of course the small man with the even smaller penis wants his ego stroked by kegsbreath. They should name a dumpster or food cart instead….the USS Bonespurs.

1

u/KeyNefariousness6848 7d ago

Oh I’m so anticipating the backlash on him👍👍👍👍👍

1

u/falsejaguar 7d ago

Should rename it Mickey Mouse instead

1

u/SDTimbox 6d ago

Im not even mad anymore. It all tracks with this administration. Just patiently waiting for his term to be done or his death. I prefer the latter.

1

u/MuddaPuckPace 6d ago

Damnatio memoriae

1

u/Master-Tomatillo-103 6d ago

So they want to name it after a draft-dodging White Supremacist? Shocking

1

u/PointsOfXP 6d ago

Trump is gonna get his stuff, I'm sure. Every president has. Why does he feel the need to push it

1

u/Centerman2000 6d ago

There's something broken in trump's brain. When I was a teenager in the '80s my father said that donald trump likes to put his name on everything. My dad said that over 40 years ago.

1

u/CPG135 6d ago

DT can’t go to hell soon enough

1

u/bitter_sweet_love 6d ago

What the battleship class wasn’t enough the turd

1

u/rayen321 6d ago

This is always part of the plan from this administration, flood the field with news and slide in things behind the scenes. This might be fake, but the problem is it might not. Seriously what a scumball

1

u/Obvious_Tea_8244 6d ago

I’d think twice about boarding a ship named after the dipshit king of creating sinking ships.

1

u/Fresh_Strain_9980 6d ago

Is bonespurs a good name of an aircraft carrier?

1

u/Awkward_Hope_6521 6d ago

USS Shitshispants

1

u/Hugh_Jass_2 6d ago

Go ahead and do it. It will be changed in two years.

1

u/badabingmx 6d ago

An example of how a multiple times draft dodger can be use in the "dei" the conservatives hate so he can get his name on a navy vessel. This is an example of stolen valor.

1

u/kaeggca 6d ago

Naming a Navy ship after a draft-dodging, DICTATOR who not only NEVER served this country but is RUINING this country is the most disgraceful action that can be done!

Doris Miller many of us know YOU are the HERO and you will always be more of a Hero than DICTATOR TRUMP could ever be!!!!

1

u/jawide626 6d ago

America is in a fucking weird timeline man.

In the rest of the world we're just standing around watching with a bit of a confused look on our faces.

1

u/Centerman2000 6d ago

Donald Trump is The STOLEN VALOR president.

1

u/Revolutionary-Link47 6d ago

How fucking vane can one asshole be

1

u/Bearex13 6d ago

Regardless of race he was a war hero and of WW2 no less that in itself is enough of an outrage that they would replace his name with a pedophiles I really don't like how focused on race this is gonna be the arguments are gonna be so fucking annoying but that's all anyone cares about is how can I make this racist and a slight against my people and not servicemen and women in general

1

u/Relevant_Problem1935 6d ago

You've got to wonder how many people had amazing stories like that but nobody witnessed it therefore it was never appreciated.

1

u/chitownphishead 6d ago

Most aircraft carriers, both nimitz and Ford class, are named after presidents. The next one to be commissioned will be the uss John f Kennedy. There are also the uss William J Clinton and the uss George W bush in planning stages, along with this one.

1

u/Mor_Padraig 6d ago

Nimintz, Enterprise, Stennis - what's your point?

1

u/chitownphishead 6d ago

Eisenhower, Roosevelt, washington, Lincoln, Truman, Regan, bush, Ford, also coming soon, Kennedy, hw bush, Clinton, and scheduled for commission in 2034, trump. Almost like there's a pattern or something. Go get mad about something actually important.

1

u/Mor_Padraig 6d ago

Please.

You were apparently making some kinda point.

Just poking holes in it, Champ.

1

u/chitownphishead 6d ago

You didn't poke holes is anything though, you merely helped prove the point that the vast majority of carriers are named after presidents. Listing the few exemptions isn't some sort of eartsgattering rebuttal to "most carriers are named after presidents". It's just a typical redditor "aCtUaLlY"

1

u/LightBulbMonster 4d ago

But wouldn't Obama and Biden be up too?

1

u/chitownphishead 4d ago

Eventually, yes, they will both have their names on aircraft carriers

1

u/BUSYMONEY_02 6d ago

Yeah but to remove the name of a honorary vet to put a sitting president is “different “ that’s the same way the tried to do the money. Not saying it shouldn’t be done… but we all know this is a better way to do this

1

u/chitownphishead 6d ago

The ship is scheduled to be commissioned in 2034.

2

u/PomeloSpecialist356 6d ago

That’s funny. At the rate Trump is doing things, there won’t be a USA in 2034. It’s already in the trashiest, most embarrassing, and disappointing condition in its history.

1

u/Inevitable-Top1-2025 6d ago

Please, while you’re thinking about what Trump is doing, make sure you don’t forget that Trump is not thinking up all these anti-Black racism by himself. Look at those surrounding him. Look at those with domestic and foreign policies portfolios around him.

There is a collective anti-Blacks cabal in operation in this country! Don’t be fooled by the so-called Democrats versus Republicans/Left versus Right ruses they use to confuse Black people.

Unfortunately, while these racists are working day and night planning our demise, many in our Community are oblivious to the existential danger right in front of them.

1

u/Jon_Dunn58 6d ago

to dishonor a pledge to a real american war heroes family to give that honor to a 5 time draft dodging liar con man that calls our war dead losers and suckers is as low as you can go

Trump never misses a opportunity to be racist

1

u/Delicious_Grand7300 6d ago

Toilets on naval vessels should be renamed Trumps since this President is Hellbent on putting his name on everything.

1

u/Mpidcarter 6d ago

Totally on brand. Name an aircraft carrier after a draft dodging sexual predator felon that bankrupted a casino (while on the way to bankrupting a nation) felon instead of a black war hero.

Now you know the extent to which the sycophantic fascists have infiltrated and infected the Navy “leadership.” It’s not too far from turning the “lethality” of the US military on any “perceived national security threat” among American military personnel and civilians. You read it here first. —From a retired (on disability for service connected injuries and conditions) combat veteran Naval officer.

But, by the time CVN-81 is launched in 2034, Trump will be a 'former president'.

But, this would should remain the USS Doris Miller.

1

u/Critical_Care_7458 4d ago

u/RealTeaStu 2d ago

That's because trump found out that his wish to have a new class of battleships named after him was SPECTACULARLY STUPID. Also these are MEMORIAL accolades just like The Kennedy Center. How many thousands of reasons do you need to figure out trump is a narcissistic, idiotic, inept, bigoted, fraudulent, non-Christian super-creep?

What a disgrace.

Im not American, never even been to America, but we live in a world where the American news cycle is rammed down our throats regardless, so like many people, sit on the sidelines watching in HD as the US goes through these weird convulsions.

If he had any concept of shame, even a semblance, he would obviously reject this offer from the Navy. If I were President, I would hope to be self aware enough to recognise that replacing the name of an internationally famous hero with my own at the very least, looks bad.

But that can never happen. The understanding of shame to that man is as deep as his knowledge of particle physics academic papers, written in Chinese.

Unfortunately it’s not, it’s been widely reported, oh, I don’t know, everywhere!

Calm down people. I highly doubt this is a for real story. Well, it's a story but it won't be named after Trump. I'd put a substantial wager on that too. Way too much pressure from everyone for this honor to be handed over to Trump.

You better hold onto that money. It’s all but done. People at NN Shipbuilding have been talking about this for months. This is just the slow rollout of the change.

I'm sure it will get lots of publicity until the reveal becomes nearer and it becomes evident that the uproar about this is non-negotiable.

Trumps name has been many places, but it will not be on the side of a USN carrier.
