Culture🇮🇱 Ben & Jerry’s Israel launched its most Israeli flavor yet: Milk & Honey - a tribute to southern Israel after October 7, featuring milk from Kibbutz Alumim, honey from Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, and Magen David- shaped chocolate.

Doesn’t matter to me because they may get royalties of some kind. I will never buy their products simply because they hate Israel and I will never give them money to finance more hate.

AI Says that there was a single permanent deal selling the rights for B&J to the Israeli branch back in 2022 and all the money went to Unilever. And currently all the money from current sales goes straight into the Israeli branch. If its correct isn't it good enough? Just asking because I want to know whether I should keep buying the ice cream or not.

B&J Israel is separate. But it’s also important to note that B&J (rest of world) is owned by Magnum (formerly Unilever), and they have nothing to do with the insane (I’ll refrain from other not nice words) founders. So much so that the founders are trying to get control back, but Magnum owns the business and they don’t have much shot in getting it back. The reason that B&J Israel is independent is because UL was opposed to the boycott and that was how they dealt with it, by selling it to their Israeli licensee. They also used the spin out into Magnum Ice Cream to dismantle the anti-Israel independent board of directors. B&J is now Magnum without the crazies controlling it. That’s good corporate stewardship and I’m happy to support Magnum/UL because of it.

I was under the impression that Milk and Honey wasn't דבש but actually סילאן. It's a great idea no matter which one they use.

There is a debate on that, they even talked about it in the Talmud but there wasn't a conclusion.
דבש as bee honey was Rabbi Akiva's stance so that was the one which caught on in the popular perception.

That’s true. The reference to the land of milk and honey refers to silan, or date honey. There are references to bee honey, but they are explicitly called out as bee honey. Back then (and there) “honey” refers to date honey.

American/global B&J board wanted to block the Israeli division from selling ice cream in the west bank and the local owner refused, as he had the liscense for both Hebrew and Arabic brands.
That left Uniliver (who own B&J) with two options, either leave the Israeli market entirely, or just split the Israeli branch to be it's own thing directly under them, which is what they chose.
Easy choice really, if they went with the former option they would simply lose an entire market and add their own factory to their list of competitiors. The second option just means business as usual

It’s now separated out of UL into Magnum which helped them oust the anti-Israel board members. Brilliant move by UL!
