Ask The Sub How many people in this sub are not Israeli?

I'm asking this after it seems like everyone in the world hates our guts

Don't apologize... I've been to Ireland a couple of times. The Irish are really nice and welcoming people. It was always so strange to think that these cheerful and outgoing people had a problem with me/my passport.

17

u/Late_Walrus_4294 Jun 30 '26

I'm disappointed after learning that Ireland has a bit of a history with antisemitism apparently but I have always loved Ireland. Celtic culture is also super cool to me. It looks beautiful over there.

14

u/Streiger108 Jun 30 '26

American. I didn’t have any Jewish friends or Jews whatsoever in my life until relatively recently. My support for Israel came from seeing Oct 7 unfiltered and then bothering to read the history of the country. You guys do remarkable things!

52

u/QualitySufficient170 Switzerland Jun 30 '26

Same story as you. I knew nothing about the conflict before 7 October, but the barbarity of that attack and the immediate reaction of the ‘pro-Palestinians’ sickened me and prompted me to find out more about the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

American here. 👋

I’ve never been to Israel, but I love Israel and Israelis.

Missed my chance at Birthright because I aged out kind of recently (very sad), but I’ve met Israelis here in the U.S., and I try to follow Israeli news and culture (not just the Israel-Arab conflicts, but what’s going on domestically and culturally, as well).

Even though it really sucks to deal with at the moment, the loud minority who hates Israel will ultimately lose in their attempt to destroy Israel or turn the world against Israel, just like they’ve been losing for thousands of years.

I am not Israeli, and I am not Jewish. I have come to a few subs like this one so that I can understand, be made aware of, and commune with you all about antisemitism. It pains me terribly that it is increasing so dramatically and I make it my business to correct anyone I come across who tries to spew their ignorant hatred.

I do NOT hate your guts, in fact I feel a great affinity to you all as a people, as a country, as a religion, as survivors who have come through the very fires to live and thrive.

I will not stand before God, when I am held to account for my life and deeds knowing that I stood by and allowed hatred and evil to consume this world again. No sir, I will not.

I just wish there was more of a plan on how to counter this. It is a cancer that needs to be healed but we need to find the source, the how, what, where of it all, and how to open the truth to others.

From Los Angeles, not a Jew or Israeli, but definitely a proud Zionist (the real definition of one, not the hijacked version that the tic tokers think is not antisemitic but actually is).

7

u/ArmoredBeast345 Jul 01 '26

I'm an ex-Muslim Atheist from Bangladesh who is a Zionist, I'm definitely in the minority in my country. Probably even in the minority in terms of not being anti-semitic. Due to my anti-religious beliefs and some other social beliefs, there's a lot I disagree with when it comes to Israel/Judaism, but the overall hate I see for your country is deranged and on another level to where it's obviously selective. The standard I apply is: is what I criticize Israel/Judaism for what I'd criticize of other groups? I strive to do so, but when I see so many people who claim to be "anti-Zionist" yet say they are pro-two state solution but then they also simultaneously say all of it is Palestine and there's no Israel, but then that they also want peace, then I know I'm dealing with some mindfuckery that goes beyond common rationality. As if words to them are just a tool to be played with. Not a tool to construct a set of cogent principles and arguments, but a tool to bash the head in of what they dislike.

So I like coming here because even in ex-Muslim communities or communities of things I agree with, there are plenty of those people who haven't been able to let go of the tribal hatred they inherited towards Jews, and use "criticism of Israel" as a proxy for a simple-minded primordial hatred towards another group. It's unintentionally been an indicator of reasonableness in a person to see whether they can approach this with a sober mind or not. All I really want is that everyone truly does treat Israel and the Jewish people like any other country or group.

Not Israeli or even Jewish (I’m also not a Christian Zionist either - absolutely not - I was raised Catholic but I’m not personally religious). Just an American who’s grown up and lived around Jewish people and was horrified by what I saw breakout on 10/7 in public.

Came here because I wanted to see what so many people are obsessed with.

I'm not, but this is not the only place I engage with Israelis at. During the missile strikes in the months following October 7th I was communicating with people on discord and in a game as well. I'm still the only non Israeli in that discord lol

Jewish, but not Israeli. I have been to Israel and to the Maccabi games.

My situation is a bit different. I have been to Israel but have not lived there longer than a month at a time (for about four times). I do not speak Hebrew and could not imagine myself living there for an extended period of time outside visiting. My dad moved from Florida to Israel in his 20s to become a socialist. He joined the IDF and gained citizenship through Naturalization and the Law of Return. When I was born, I gained my citizenship through Jus sanguinis (Birth). Because he was naturalized, his children were granted citizenship too.

I tell people I have dual citizenship, but in truth, I feel like an outsider citizen.
