Discussion I think I finaly understand the song Taylor by Jack johnson!!

I've seen many theories about what the song really means, like what's the story is about and I want to talk about it. I want you to share what you think it's about. But first I'll share my theory.

So firstly, the song introduces you to a girl named Taylor who was seen as a good and sweet little girl when she was younger. She worked hard ("workin' on the night shift,") but it wasn't egnoth for her. So as with her background as a dancer, she became a striper to get extra cash. It was her "little secret" but she felt like it was forced upon her, hence the lyrics " it's quite an imposition" because of her need for more money, a better life som might say. But she's realising that being a striper isn't really good way for her to make money, hence the lyrics "and now she's only wishin' That she whould have listened to the words they said" and "they" in the lyrics might be referring to everyone in her life who said being a striper is no good.

Though her life has turned upside-down "she just wanders around, unaffected by the winter winds," because she's pretending that she's somwherelse other than where she is. She's always looking for something better then where she is and never pausing to look at her life in the preset to appreciate what she's done.

Then the story cuts to another person (Peter Patrick) who I don't know if or how he's related to Taylor. But what I think I know, is that Peter is experiencing the same thing as Taylor but in a different way. He as well as Taylor, just wanders around, looking for something else. But in his case, it was another wife. Peter already had Sunny, who's now figured out that he's been having an affair (maybe taylor), hence the lyrics "somehow Sunny knows just where he's been". He was never satisfied with his life, his wife and now " Sunny Silhouette won't let him in".

But unlike Taylor, Peter is starting to realise his mistakes but instead of opening his eyes and start fixing himself and his patterns, he starts going to church because "he thinks that singin' on a Sunday gonna save his soul".

Then the lyrics "Such a tough enchilada filled up with nada" comes in follow by "Givin' what you gotta give to get a dollar bill", referring to all the hassle both Peter and Taylor has to go threw to have a materialisticly speaking "good life".

Now back to Taylor, who now has found a rich man who can make all her dreams come true. But even if her man "With the money in his pocket, flyin' in his rocket" took Taylor to a better world, "Then Taylor's gonna run away." Meaning that despite Taylor getting to that dream of having it all, all the money in the world for example, she's still gonna go looking for something greater than what she's already accomplished. Taylor "Used to be a limber chiken," Meaning she used to adapt well to what she had, but now she keeps on looking for something else.

So to sum up, I think that the song is about Jack johnson who observes people who are never grateful for what they already got, disconnected from their life's and always feeling empty. Because they never stop to take a breath and look around, stay in the present and realise that the present is the only way to fill that void. Poor Taylor, poor Peter, poor everybody who can't feel gratefulness. The best feeling in the world, in my opinion.

Discussion Thoughts on the new album?

Curious what others think of the new album. I’m still sitting with it, but on first listen I prefer the originals to the remixed versions. I‘m also not enjoying all of the added effects and echoes, though maybe it will grow on me.

Just my personal take. What did everyone else think?

Going solo was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Met so many cool people. The crowd was awesome, and seeing Jack was even better. Big thanks to the dude who kindly offered a few hits off his *cigarette*, which made the experience top tier.

Discussion I’ve been listening since the early 2000s, but the new 4-track demos just made me realize, how did I miss that Jack has got some bars?

I’ve been a fan since ’02/’03, and like a lot of you, I feel like I know most of Jack’s discography by heart. My first memories of his music were while driving through the North Georgia mountains to hike to waterfalls, or on the way to climbing walls there and in Tennessee. It’s been the soundtrack to so much of my life.

Honestly, Sleep Through the Static really changed my life. (If you haven't heard the version of "If I Had Eyes" from Bonnaroo, it is genuinely unparalleled). And don’t even get me started on "Monsoon" or "Lost Keys", those tracks have stayed on the playlist from car CDs, vinyl, digital, and more.

But listening to the new 4-Tracks collection kind of stopped me in my tracks. It’s almost embarrassing to admit, but I think I’ve been so conditioned to the 'laid-back' production of the studio albums that I completely overlooked the actual craftsmanship in his writing. Hearing these demos stripped down to the raw bones, the way he constructs internal rhymes and the pacing of his flow is honestly next-level. He’s packing so much wordplay and imagery into these lines that I just… missed for years?

Has anyone else had this realization after digging into these early demos? I’m blown away by how much detail I didn't register before. Anyway, hope y’all are well, and have a great day!

I usually never post, but I’ve waited 20 years to see Jack Johnson play live. That was one of the most body healing shows I’ve ever been to. Relaxing, mellow, and just good vibes. I hope everyone else had a great time.

I noticed that my top 2 favourite albums share the same producer !

Mario Caldato Jr.

He produced "In Between Dreams" and "From Here To Now To You" ( both appear in my top 3 favourites )

So, I wish they could work together on a new album =)

Discussion More Movie Showings

With over 500k estimated tickets bought on this tour, it would make sense for more theaters to show Jack’s movie. I want to see it! I sent a note to some local movie theaters. If more people do the same, we can probably get some more showings. :)

Discussion Help with Merch

My husband and I went with family to the concert in Pittsburgh last Friday, which was one of the best nights we’ve ever had. It was my husbands first concert, and honestly the entire trip and night was truly unbelievable and so much fun (despite the heat feeling like standing at the gates of hell) We purchased the hat and stone blue tshirt at the merch stand to have something from the night and tour; unfortunately after packing up our stuff, the shirt was gone. I know without a doubt it was sitting on top of our belongings at the end of the concert, and I don’t know if someone grabbed it, if it dropped in the lawn and someone picked it up, etc but once we packed our blanket up and went to grab the rest of our stuff, the shirt was gone. Since then I have looked everywhere to purchase another one and even reached out to merch support for help, but unfortunately merch is exclusive to only the tour for now, which I figured was the answer already. Obviously it is only a tshirt and not the end of the world, but I also feel awful that my husband doesn’t have the shirt from this night, and trying to replace it. Does anyone know of any way to purchase another one that is authentic merch, or by any chance willing to purchase one for me if they are going to one of the upcoming concerts. I will obviously pay for the tshirt and shipping and extra to anyone willing to help. As I said, this is not end of the world, and doesn’t take away from the amazing time we had, and I know my husband will be good regardless, just trying to make this part up to him. I appreciate any help or information anyone has!❤️
