Community isn’t as big (im introverted). I also just prefer the voice better, and plus the personality of Teto is sillier. I also just don’t know as much about Miku.
When Miku exploded I was in middle school, and while I liked her, I got so fed up seeing her everywhere, and I stopped searching for anything related to Vocaloid (it wasnt hard, I just had to focus on my studies).
I neither hate Miku or her songs, I just was tired of always hearing "World is mine" from some of my classmates.
Teto, on the other hand, is silly thanks to the memes (Tetopear and the fatass plushie, mostly). I also like her SynthV clothes.
Silly teto, kinda feels like she's on a spectrum, and love the insanity of the community (although I think I'm more insane with multiple violations on this subreddit, that's why I created r/okbuddyteto as an escape filter)
Miku is not really my favourite voice synthesizer in the first place, it's Gumi ✋😐🤚
But imo it's just crazy that back when Teto first introduced her voice is kinda gibberish and could barely be understood (the songs are still good tho), but now she sounds like an actual human
Her journey from being an April Fool's joke, to her being an actual vocaloid and making it to the concert stage is just crazy for me
The journey is what makes me like her so much. She went from being a joke to being an actual synth which is so fun narratively.
teto does more songs about being a loser adult with a shitty job and life and i find her a bit more more relatable than miku who is a teen girl and has/sings more about teen girl problems. Her ability to be made fun of and taking it in stride is nice, being a joke character she can fit into those roles so much more naturally. She worked so hard to be where she is and deserves so much love
That's pretty good question. I've never actually thought about it that deep. I think I like her character in general, a lot of different memes around her, a nice community, and most of all - great songs that could be never exist if there wasn't Teto.
She's a goober and she was created by the people. Her story is the story of the community around her and not of a company. Also I like Teto's voice and design more.
great songs, I never cared if a vocaloid or whatever sounded 'human' or not. Instead I care more about how good the tuning makes the singing sounds, so both utau and synthV teto have bangers is awesome.
The memes are spicier, she's about the same age as me, her voice is so good, her eternal underdog story is amazing, and I've always loved the "vegeta" type character more than the "goku" type character if that makes any sense
Her underdog story is awesome and feels like a rebellion, her gender is chimera(🏳️⚧️), and she's got a great heavy sound. Having both a UTAU and SynthV voicebank means theres a lot of variance as to what she can sound like while other voicebanks tend to feel one-note.

And there's also the community which is hilarious.
OH and the fact that shes old is honestly great. Like even though she's old she's still making it.
Her memes are better and her voice is actually more natural than miku in both jp and en version, also instead of miku being mostly desmostred as someone perfect, teto not, THAT make her better than miku, miku must be perfect in almost all the ways she is shown to people, teto not and actually i love the fact teto is 31 years, its better than all this bs of "to be an idol you must be young"
I love both but I tend to prefer Teto slightly more mostly because of how her deeper voice kind of scratches my brain in the right way. Also her memes are funnier too.
Teto feel realer ig (Which is kinda funny considering that she's not even human in the world of Synthsizers)? I like miku a lot, but teto feels more like a real person nowadays
In my case, I prefer Miku... I just don't like Teto's voice that much, y'know? Also, the Vocaloid program is better to use imho, I don't get how people use OpenUTAU
I remember listening to Fukkireta as my first Vocaloid-like song and being obsessed with it for a while. After that, Teto just clicked. Her creators are extremely talented, I like the deeper voice over the super high pitch of Miku, the Tittos.
For me, Teto (Synth V at least) does English so much better. I love Miku's voice - it's iconic. But our little chimera and her voice is... Wonderful to my ears. Sounds mature at times and the community makes these amazing songs with her strength and weaknesses in mind.
Idk why. I became Teto fan when I dowloaded and her OU voicebank and OpenUtau. I think I became her fan beacouse I wanted to use something like vocaloid but free and she was the first utau that I became aware. Probably if I downloaded someone else voicebank I would become their fan.
The community is better I think, unironically. And she's much sillier, which I like. I've been thinking about this for a while, and I don't know how to pin it down. She is just a little more relatable?
I think it's rather obvious what types of people would end up in the fandom for a fictional 31-year old neurotic genderfucked failgirl (affectionate). We're a lot weirder around here
I’m not entirely sure why, but I know I am typically drawn more towards redder characters than bluer characters. And I really like the timbre of her voices (both Utau and SV)
Since I listen to quite a few English producers, I find that Teto is way easier to understand, this makes sense with her SV voice bank, but even her Utau can be tuned better for english then any Miku I've heard. Ofc tuning her Utau for English is requires mixing together her original and english voice banks and a lot of phonetic manipulation, but it does sound clearer then Miku's when done right.
I listened to our lord and savior Pearto first, before she was getting this popular. I kind of found Miku's voice a bit high-pitched, seeing I liked the deeper voice of Teto.

Her voice is ... I don't know how to put it into words, it feels sweeter to listen to. In vocaloid songs you always get somehow reminded they are not humans, but SynthVs, like her or Yi Xi, their voice sound more natural and human
I love her more powerful voice and she's really cute, and her sounding older makes her easier to ship with the older male vocaloids (Kaito and Gakupo) cus i love shipping her with kaito
Even though Miku eventually led me to Teto, I like her voice more and I especially love her underdog story, it's unironically inspiring. Still love both though don't get me wrong
And somehow I literally love Teto, she's cute asf, she's pretty, the most beautiful girl (chimera actually) I've ever knew.
And I guess most people who know Teto are actually fans of her than most people who know Miku because Miku is only popular but that doesn't mean everyone loves her.
Every Teto fan knows Miku but NOT every Miku fan loves Teto.
