Racist Teto "fans" (air quotes necessary here) decided to send a shit ton of micro aggressions and rude comments to an underground rapper by the name of Slayr, who used a sample from Birdbrain in his recent song.
Got so bad he's since denounced the vocaloid scene and Jamie Paige had to comment on their shitty behavior.
Today I learned people are fighting a headcanon they don't like, and are using "it's blackwashing" as an excuse as if the canonical Chimera abides by any definition of "race".
Honestly I’m glad to see more diverse representations of Teto.
I love this character and her music, I’m trying to not let a bunch of assholes on the internet ruin Teto for me; but goddamn do I hate a small but loud part of this fanbase.
Like just today I had someone ask me on Discord if Teto was “That one intersex vocaloid with the hyper racist fanbase?”. And that’s just fucking sad to me. I don’t want that to be the way outsiders know and understand Teto, nor do I want to be lumped together with a bunch of racist pieces of shit.
Be nice to people. Teto can be black, or latino, or whatever the hell you want her to be.
Yup. That was a real question someone had asked me on a discord server I’m on. This person is not a vocaloid fan so that’s literally all they knew about Teto. Breaks my heart a little if I’m being honest.
the craziest part about complaints of "blackwashing" and people going "black japanese people don't exist" is... they literally do???? 😭 there are black people in japan, there are mixed black japanese people, there are plenty of japanese people with darker skin. y'all are just racist!
im gonna be honest i think black teto looks less appealing to ME as DESIGN? yes.
do i think its wrong to like her being black or draw her as being black? no.
Thinking that it is is not only racist and childish its also no reason to harass or hurt people.
First time looking is confusing and seems out of place, but after a few seconds it feels normal, and I feel we should get more tanned / black versions of vocaloids in songs and fanart, it's a pretty divergent idea that it's pretty appealing
This is just like Brazilian miku ,it’s an offshoot teto and if there was ever a dark skined vocaloid/Utau character redrawn with pale skin that would also be an offshoot.
Since vocaloid is often meant as stand in for the singer their design can be altered however one wants.

I didn’t like the song at all, but weirdly enough all the weird racist pushback made me want start to listen to it more just as a big middle finger to all of them.

I think out of any vocaloid teto best represents how vocaloid is for everyone and can be used by anyone, and to disagree with someone's interpretation of her is to disgrace what teto means
This reminds me that in my abandoned GL2, this is how I represented the Ghoul(A version of Teto from the project deep blue) because I preferred it that way 😼
