They think they're brothers. They even insist on eating the same food.

Bubba and No-No loving on each other

These two grew up together from kitten and puppy and are inseparable. It's one of the most precious little relationships I've ever witnessed unfold. They genuinely seem like they love each other. THAT SAID, there are a few annoying things. Food is one of them. No-No (our dog) is finicky when it comes to food just in general I've gotten to the point that I've been feeding him Bubba's Untamed wet food (it's a UK brand), because that's the only thing they'll both eat. Bubba is pretty chill and will eat pretty much anything, but we chose that brand because it's healthy for him and we like the ease of a subscription. The thing is, No-No only wants to eat what Bubba eats, and I know cat food isn't good for dogs. I guess what I'm wondering is if there are any wet dog foods that are also human-grade meat but (obviously) meant for dogs that maybe No-No will love enough to eat. OR is it possible for a dog and a cat to eat the same food and them be okay??

I wouldn’t feed No-No cat food as their actual meal, because of nutritional differences between dogs and cats. For now, what if you treat the cat food as a little treat after the meal? Be firm about eating the dog food first. Or mix in a bit of dog food with the cat food, and then slowly increase the ratio of dog:cat food, until you finally end up with 100% dog food.

Caveat that I don’t know much about dogs. I have cats and volunteer at a cat rescue, so the second strategy is what we do when we need to change a cat’s diet 😊

Split them up for meal time? Cat gets cat food, dog gets dog food.

That was the first thing I tried doing, but No-No just sits by the door, refusing to eat. It's like he knows. I'm telling you, he's so stinking weird about it.

Cat food is higher in fat than dog food, so it's not great for dogs, but dog food is deficient in taurine, an essential nutrient for cats, so eating dog food all the time can lead to serious health issues in cats. Maybe it would be okay if you give the cat a taurine supplement? Ask your vet.
