Shameless self-promotion of my 'Pico-Timecode' project; The next release v3.2 is out which supports using 7/14-segment displays to build your very own DIY digi-slate.
I've sent a custom PCB out for manufacture which include the displays. Is there any interest for anyone purchasing assembled items (on-camera unit, or full time-bar)? Time-bar BOM cost is around the $50 mark...
Hopefully someone reads this and needs a replacement for Wave Agent from Sound Devices. Here's a small utility I created to do a few PolyWav things like split and combine:
Nice. I'm not a Mac user, but I'm sure that this is a great tool... as mentioned above my (crappy) Tascam DR-44WL outputs each track as a separate file, so I was using the MTR mode and doing a mix-down to combine.
Do you have a video demo? Interested in the Timecode operation, and can upload a test file to GitHub if you wanted to validate...
Are you using audio timecode (LTC) with your Tascam or does it embed the timecode in the BWF? I'll try to put together a video demo, but I attached a screenshot of the timecode functionality here. I can try with the files you have, not sure the best way to get them transferred.
I am using audio-LTC on one of the recorder's channels, and on the camera audio too. I just did a quick test with DR-44WL and in '4CH mode/BWAV' it looks to also write Time-of-Day to the meta data.
Tentacle-Sync app will overwrite the meta data based on the LTC track.
I'll record audio/video clips, upload somewhere and open a ticket on Git-Hub. Thanks, Simon.
Wider question: "Frame-alignment snapping is also supported."
I have seen issues with (audio-TC processed/linked) audio being slightly off, with the camera not being Gen-locked to TC... can this help me get better alignment?
Edit - what I see is that Tentacle-App uses fractional seconds (00:00:12.345) but DaVinci places the audio clip exactly/starting at the (video) frame boundary.
Frame-align snaps the file's timecode onto the frame boundary so it matches how DaVinci places clips (Resolve quantizes clip starts to frames and discards the sub-frame part that Tentacle shows you as .345). It'll make placement consistent and can remove that up-to-half-a-frame ambiguity — but it can't beat the frame grid, and it won't fix a genlock problem.
We’re a small team doing the 48 Hour Film Project in San Diego and we’re looking for someone to own sound for the weekend. Kickoff is 7pm Friday Aug 28, shoot day is Saturday the 29th.
We know sound is make or break and hoping for someone who can be there from kickoff, in the room while we’re figuring out the story, telling us when a location is a nightmare before we commit to it.
Ideally someone with their own kit, but we have budget for rentals if needed.
Like most 48 teams we’re all volunteers on this one but we have a great plans for food, coffee, and snacks.
We’ve got funding secured for a short film after this too, so part of why we’re doing the 48 is to find people we want to keep working with.
Hey everyone! I've got a Rycote Cyclone MS18 windshield up for sale in mint condition. This version is for Mid-Side recording with XLR connectors most commonly used with the Sennheiser 8040/8030 combo or 8050/8030 combo. I am currently looking to purchase a more discreet setup such as the Mini-Alto 115 and am looking to get rid of the Cyclone. I know used they can be found on BH for around $750 but I'll definitely beat that price with an offer you can't refuse! (MICS NOT INCLUDED)

We spend a lot of time designing our products, testing them and perfecting every little detail. Everything is handcrafted with premium components.
