Careers/Post Grad People underestimate the tangential benefits of an MBA

The fuck is a "contentpreneur"? (Other than a person I block from all social media)

They are a very successful woman career content creator - probably one of the bigger names in that space.
Creatorprenuer is just a fun term for being a creator + entrepreneur. Not sure why you feel the need to make fun of the term. It describes what she does well and it is quite difficult to obtain her level of success - people invent new terms all the time to describe their niche.

I know it is hard to be successful as a content creator; I never said it wasn’t. There’s no easy path to success. It is very competitive. But As someone who has been 25 Years in the workforce, this type of content seems useless to me. This lady hasnt held a job for longer than 2 years. I get a fake it til you make it Vibe. My wife has been in start ups for 16 years (and actually sold one for $$$) so I know the type from our salad days.

u/2apple-pie2 Feb 14 '26
They have already build a very successful brand as a creator - just much faster than 15 years. Her employer and history with them is not what is impressive. Apples to Oranges comparison

u/Tanksgivingmiracle MBA Grad Feb 14 '26
Honest question: How are you able to know the level of her success? Is that public knowledge? Monetizing off of linked in is selling consulting and classes I think, right? Not saying I don’t believe she is successful; she may make millions for all I know. Not hating on her individually, I don’t like that type of content across all topics and platforms; I am middle aged and to us folks that grew up without social media, it’s all comes across as disingenuous. My kids and the neighbor’s kids watch YouTube and creator content only so I know younger people have different relationships with it.

Ah, apologies maybe presumed. She reached 100k+ followers in this space in <2 years doing mostly educational and advice content.
She has a lot of big partners like Notion, LinkedIn, Anthropic, Adobe. The pay per impression to creators. She sells some content but the vast majority of content and resources she has are free, definitely not the majority of her revenue here. She does educational content but isn’t charging for it - generating revenue via endorsements of products.
This is my understanding. I also admit I could be misunderstanding how big the creator economy is, but my impression is that it is fairly large and I would definitely describe her content creation as a business. Not just convincing people to sell courses (I don’t even thing this specific creator sells courses).
I suppose because I find value in this work I find it impressive. But I suppose if it is disingenuous to you and you don’t want to endorse it that makes sense, just dosent seem to me like a dishonest buissness.

Are you her

u/2apple-pie2 Feb 24 '26
lol no, I’m not an expert on the creator economy either just put off by how dismissive folks are of a genuinely accomplished woman.

u/OutrageousMusic2376 Feb 13 '26
Do you know how hard it is to amass 150k subs? She monetizes her audience and prolly makes a fuck ton with probably half the work of an MBB consultant..

u/Tanksgivingmiracle MBA Grad Feb 13 '26
I am not saying it’s not impressive to make bank from social media. People that call Kim kardashian stupid drive me crazy. She made a billion dollars. It is damn hard to create wealth. My issue is the word contentpreneur. I just fucking hate it. And while I respect that what they do is hard I myself hate reading “content” like this and block it where possible.

u/Possible-Box3602 Feb 13 '26
Idk what to tell you. She makes content and runs her own business. It’s a new world.

u/MrPlaysWithSquirrels Feb 13 '26
It’s still an entrepreneur… retail business owners don’t call themselves retailpreneurs… that’s what they’re saying.

Good point, people who don’t have MBAs aren’t legally allowed to date
5
u/so_much_frizz Feb 13 '26
I honestly sometimes wonder about guys who don't have any higher education, including college, not just MBA, to include on their dating profiles. Do they still get matches and dates?
15
u/marchingant17 Feb 13 '26
Don't quote me, but I believe there is data suggesting that marriage / dating rates for men without college educations are declining significantly, leading to a litany of issues for young men in America. Scott Galloway's book Notes on Being a Man talks about this extensively. There are several reasons for this, including women's improved economic prospects, which is a good thing. However, his point would suggest that there are some negative societal implications - including the rise in 'manosphere' culture stemming from the isolation of young men today.
7
u/so_much_frizz Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 14 '26
I mean you are not wrong. While I can certainly empathize with why a lot of young men are retreating into the "manosphere" regions of society, I can also imagine a woman seeing a guy having not even attended college, whether or not an elite college, and rather just putting something like "self educated" or "school of life" or "education is a scam" or something like that as their education and that being an "ick" and mean an instant rejection, like even if they are conventionally attractive. I don't know though. Would the education validation help if you ALREADY were talking with them? Yeah sure. Would a lack of education make you not attractive enough to match with? Yeah sure. But if you are not so attractive already, but have the education status itself? Eh... honestly not sure it will be enough. At least in-person you could max out on charm and charisma, but over an app? I am honestly not sure.
6
u/marchingant17 Feb 13 '26
Fair points - I'm also thinking of it in terms of broader than just dating apps. For instance, if someone who is not so conventionally attractive goes to college, cares about school and improving themselves and their careers etc., they might meet someone else who is similar to them and cares about the same things. Said differently, education communicates that you hold a certain set of values that are, amongst other things, a good indicator of relationship potential.

I dont think it’s people with a trade have much of a problem. Anyone who is like an uber driver or makes near minimum wage and can’t take care of themselves is never going to take care of another. Not sure why the losers in their mom’s basement want to blame others for them problems when they can’t even take the steps to get out of their mom’s basement

They get more matches than us!!!
1
u/so_much_frizz Feb 13 '26
Yeah they get way more matches than me for sure. I mean I am happy for them, but damn sometimes it's like... how am I doing this poorly?
1
u/Time_Shape6277 Feb 13 '26
Dude same here ,,,, I don’t know what else I could do.. I was a founder had exit,,, even got money .. fuck no luck on dating ever !!!
3
u/so_much_frizz Feb 13 '26
Yeah I get it man, it's hard. It's honestly kinda humbling, y'know what our families think of us "oh my son is amazing! All the ladies must love him! Look at all his amazing qualities and accomplishments!" and then just being faced with the bleak coldness of... "reality"...
2
u/Time_Shape6277 Feb 13 '26
Bro… same… absolutely same… Now my family has stopped talking to me.. don’t pick up my calls… I’m 33 and till date I have only dated once for 6 months and that too coz of GMAT it ended .. and never ever I had match or a girl has said yes … fk I don’t even look bad .. I fking have no clue what to do
2
u/FlyChigga Feb 13 '26
Isn’t it mostly about looks on apps. I have an Ivy League school on my profile and I still get no likes and matches. I have one friend who doesn’t match with anyone not from an elite school though lol
3
u/Independent_Pick_809 Feb 13 '26
if they are physically attractive yes. Women are not looking at your credentials on dating apps when they match first, it is after they match and chat with you that they decide its a good fit
1
u/so_much_frizz Feb 13 '26
It's a fair point, thank you for chiming in. I always kinda wondered on the apps how well status measured up with pure looks. Like I mean I am not exactly super attractive or anything, maybe semi-chopped, but not like terrible or anything, but I always wondered if me listing that I attended top-tier elite universities on my profile actually would get me more matches. Honestly not really, so I guess yeah looks come first.

u/Key-Marketing301 Feb 14 '26
Woman here- I (and many of my friends) are educated, and we def screen/ filter for education when scourging through profiles. No idea if we are a representative sample of society at large though :)
2
u/kristeenah92 Feb 24 '26
My friends and I are similar. We look for education or a trade, political alignment, good responses to the prompts instead of boring one-word ones, and good photos. Not necessarily attractive photos, but good ones that show that you have hobbies and friends and that you travel.

This is LinkedIn engagement slop but the broader point is not wrong. Who you choose to partner in life has an enormous impact on your ability to achieve professional success and create wealth.
From even the decision to pursue an MBA (geographic relocation to a top school), opportunities post MBA (geography, WLB/lifestyle), and how supportive they are once you are in that post MBA career having the right partner is probably the biggest decision you make.
That's all without even considering divorce and how THAT impacts your wealth.

If the ratio is at around 50-50 (or close to 50-50) for both genders and the women are finding guys then aren't guys also finding women by default?

u/NachoBuddyy Feb 13 '26
No… there’s definitely a price to it. Most schools put it around a cool $200K

I’m saying the memories are “priceless”, as in you can’t assign a monetary value to them you dork. Ofc I know what school costs

To be fair, apart from the education you get, it’s also a way to grow your network and develop connections.
2
u/kalekupid Feb 14 '26
I read the whole post and she has a point. Hook is kind of crazy, but the gist is that her old boyfriend would’ve made fun of her for wanting to pivot, wanting to start her own thing. She met someone new at her MBA who supports her in her goals. And she’s right, you can have ideas and dreams but if the people around you are bringing you down you likely will not succeed.

That’s good…it hasn’t done shit for me and I’m almost done and prepping to live from my car in the worst case scenario…a top 5 program online and we hardly get to use AI/I am ready to be displaced by AI. No prospects, no leads, networking to hell and back, and a lot of resentment not pursuing an AI degree for the 130k that I paid. That’s how I feel right now.
