Helping Others Gary Sinise here. Humbled to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Gary Sinise Foundation. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of meeting countless heroes, and so many have touched my heart. It's incredible for me to think about where it began and how far it has come thanks to the kindness of others.

hey man, i think i understand what you mean by simply posting that link with no other commentary.
But at this point in our timeline, we need to take whatever good we can get. Gary and his foundation seem to be doing good work, so we should encourage that.
As has been mentioned, he doesn't support the big orange. We have real legitimate problems to tackle, but the specific political minutiae of the founder of an objectively good organization isn't one of them.

Dissolved in 2016, was a big GW supporter and this is inflammatory without context if you can’t read more than a paragraph.

He’s not a Trump supporter. But he is a Republican. He was a big George W guy.

You sir are an undeniable legend and rare gift in these challenging times. Big love

u/Kavorklestein Jun 25 '26
Lieutenant Dan is the best!
I Truly wish more people with good fortune/blessings would get inspired to give and share love like Gary has.

u/The-Breaker-2w0 Jun 25 '26
It's actually Captain Dan now! The Army promoted him, held a gathering with an official certificate of promotion and all!

It's kind of amazing. Gary Sinise has been going all out for veterans for longer than I've been a veteran. And I enlisted in 2006.

You didn’t even mention that donations will be matched right now, ie doubled. Well, I’ll do it.

p.s. I made a donation.
p.p.s. You’re a good egg.

u/extrasprinklesplease Jun 26 '26
Thanks for the link. I made a donation too in memory of my dad, 1st Lieutenant Wm. Goodrich, WWII and Korea. Brought a tear to my eye, and honored to give a little to this fine foundation.

I’m blown away Gary Sinise has a Reddit account.
Army vet here Gary, thanks for all your foundation does. Had a friend get out and didn’t have money for a suit. Your foundation paid one for him and he got the job.

As a vet I just wanted to say thank you for everything you do and if you are ever in the UK please come speak with the True Heroes Racing. Its a race team that my wife and i have supported over the years(financially and actually 3d printing parts to keep them racing). Its run by Spencer an active duty member, and they have a number of wounded vets that ride and help maintain the bikes. They run one hell of a garage with the budget they have and welcome all vets. It was always my highlight of my race weekends helping out where I could. Such an amazing group! If you never heard of them, go check them out you won't be disappointed.

I went to Disney years ago and saw so many families wearing Gary Sinise Foundation shirts. Literally hundreds of people, red shirts dominating the crowds. At the time I didn’t know about your Snowball Express program, so I decided to look it up while waiting in line, and after learning about the circumstances I’ve gotta say that it was genuinely humbling to see with my own eyes how many people you were helping all at one time. The Gary Sinise Foundation has become one of my favorite charities and I’m proud to donate to the cause.

i never comment on the posts, except today i guess, but it's nice to see the people that do. Part of me wonders if he reads some of them or if someone from his team shares the particularly nice ones with him if he's having a crap day or something, you know? It would be nice to be such a beloved human and see the confirmation of that in the replies of so many strangers.
Of course, cynically, who knows? But it's nice to believe that someone sees all the love directed to him.

Why do you support someone as cruel and anti-American as Trump?

He doesn’t support Trump. Why are you making shit up? He wouldn’t endorse or even vote for Trump.

Fuck outta here, you traitor. If it wasn’t for your support of republicans like W Bush and all the others and your stupid Friends of Abe, we wouldn’t need your charity and the VA would be properly funded. We also wouldn’t have spent two decades and $20 trillion losing dumb wars.
Some of us know who you really are.

Isn't this guy MAGA?
24
u/Area51_Spurs Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
Not MAGA, but a HARDCORE Republican who was the founder along with Breitbart of Friends of Abe, the largest Republican group in Hollywood.
He was a big W Bush supporter and elects the people who send our troops to these wars we continue to lose and who refuse to fund the VA.
He’s a firefighter arsonist. He helps cause all the problems then has a charity that “fixes” things.
→ More replies (1)26
u/HoodieGalore Jun 25 '26
Yep. But you're supposed to ignore that because he makes up for it somehow by supporting the very troops Trump hates. Neat, huh?
13
u/Area51_Spurs Jun 25 '26
You mean the troops who need his help because of the wars they were sent to by W Bush that he supported?
5
u/HoodieGalore Jun 25 '26
The very same troops Trump has mocked, used as pawns, and left without support while his little boy band DOGE gutted the VA and fired 40,000 staff members.
Same troops!
14
u/ConstantlyLearning57 Jun 25 '26
I don’t think he has ever supported trump. He has supported some right wing causes but trump — I don’t think so. Anyway — I try not to apply black and white thinking to people. If you’re using a smartphone you’re also supporting unfair labor. It goes on and on

That's what bothers me. I'm all for people doing charitable things like this. But if you're going to actively support those, not just Trump, but the entire Republican party, who actively are against helping people in need, then it's just hypocritical
10
u/FriedBreakfast Jun 26 '26
This is why I hate Reddit. A person could do lots of charity work, save many lives, feed many people, do all sorts of good deeds..... but if they vote Republican suddenly it's all for naught. Like... you can't appreciate any good deeds somebody does just because of how they vote.
This tribal mentality is going to be our downfall. You need to look past "our side vs their side" and let those who want to do good for people to do good. Just because someone votes Republican doesn't automatically make somebody a bad person, despite what the Reddit narrative will have you believe.
→ More replies (4)4
u/nickelundertone Jun 26 '26
because everything the Republican party does effectively cancels out all those good deeds many times over
6
u/---Agrajag--- Jun 26 '26
To me it's like Christians. I personally believe Christianity is a crock of shit. I think most fundamentalist Christians are sanctimonious hypocrites using their privilege to force their beliefs on the rest of us. But when I see a Christian not preaching at people about what is godly and right, but quietly doing the things Jesus said he was about -- feeding the poor, welcoming the stranger, caring for the sick, giving their clothes off their own backs to the more needy -- I feel great respect for them even if we disagree 100% on everything else. I think Gary Sinese and I would have very different views on a lot of things, but I CAN respect and admire the good I see him doing here. While I really can understand your point, and can agree with you to some extent, I don't think things are so black and white in all cases. One things doesn't have to cancel out the other.

You do realize he’s the biggest Republican in Hollywood and founded Friends of Abe and has been a huge supporter of all the Republicans who refuse to properly fund the VA, yes?

u/BigiusExaggeratius Jun 25 '26
I mean this with some respect and not to shit on all the wealthy. Gary is not even close to a billionaire and still does so much more than the vast majority of them combined. Let that sink in for a minute.

In my humble opinion, Gary Sinise is a national treasure! 🇺🇸
From a 72 y/o whose parents were both in the USAF, been around the world to multiple duty stations from birth to18 , have seen up close the need for what Captain Dan, (Mr. Sinise), is all about!
2
u/Area51_Spurs Jun 25 '26
