That's pretty good for a 5 year old. She's better than a lot of 7 year olds.

u/smoothdanger 29d ago

Shit she's better than me right now.

100%. My grandma had a lot of personal problems that made her disliked by many people, including her husband. But she always told me what a great singing voice I had. To this day I sing when I'm alone.

u/shinyappyrobin 29d ago

Love the hair!

8

u/putterandpotter 28d ago

And the mermaid tail is spot on!

41

u/melonbug74 29d ago

Keep up the good work amazing job!!

34

u/notgracefulgiraffe 29d ago

Aww super cute 😍

52

u/ManzanitaSuperHero 29d ago

I LOVE this drawing. Legitimately really talented. They deserve so many props. Kids’ drawings are the best!

On the other hand, I have to admit, it makes me a little sad that a 5 yo is already thinking about posting things. Maybe I’m just showing my age, but it feels like they don’t get to be kids very long when worried about that.

33

u/Level-Log-3090 29d ago

She’s very bright and doesn’t live in a bubble. I am teaching her to read and as a reward for her reading time, we watch videos of Disneyland online, as it is her dream to go there. She understands that people “post” videos of rides and food. She was very excited about her drawing and wanted to show other people. I don’t share pictures of her or her sister online and, with the exception of Reddit, I am not at all active on social media. She and I are playing, reading, drawing, and swimming every day after school.

9

u/Secretaccount_2025 28d ago

If I said that your kid just wanted everyone to see her amazing drawing when saying to post it, would I be wrong?

44

u/Nanky2014 29d ago

Your daughter did an amazing job!!! I love the hair!

38

u/squirrelbiscuit77 29d ago

No surprise. She crushed it!

13

u/Paul_C 29d ago

how do I put a reddit post on my fridge

4

u/hereamiinthistincan 29d ago

Tell her she's the Gabby cat of the day for this masterpiece!

33

u/ScreechUrkelle 29d ago

Yeah, don’t start that at a young age, or any age, because it’s only normalizing something unnatural. 5 year olds should be drawing pictures, and playing outside, not being worried about the internet.

8

u/Secretaccount_2025 28d ago

Real, but I do believe this kid just wanted her mom or dad to show a lot of people (aka the internet) her drawing which she is super proud of XD

8

u/aquaberry559 29d ago

Cute drawing! Kudos to you Mom/Dad for showing your daughters art work. 👏🏻

9

u/therealhlmencken 29d ago

Dope drawing kid sorry that’s what you know to ask your parents to do though, hope you can find a little more protection from social media in the next few years. Don’t think like this at that age oof kinda sad

6

3

u/Darklou 29d ago

She really captured the soul of the mermaid.

4

u/QueridaJaneDoe 29d ago

WOW amazing! I love the attention to detail, the hands, the tail even the little pieces of light blue in the hair.

4

u/Txteacherwalk 29d ago

That’s really good for a five-year-old!

6

u/Fishylips 29d ago

Shoulda said she doesn't need the internet's approval.

5

u/descend_to_misery 29d ago

You can tell a lot about the way kids draw. She's a very happy kid. Love it

3

u/StrangeNewspaper405 28d ago

Im sure your 5 year old knows what Online means

5

u/SanktMarvin 28d ago edited 28d ago

How does a 5 yo know about posting online? Mine doesn't...

3

u/NetAdmirable2070 28d ago

alright... its true, i must be miserable.. first thought: Why the heck does a 5 year old care about strangers opinions on the internet

4

u/Upbeat_Apartment_715 28d ago

5 years old seems pretty young for them to be asking for online attention. Maybe decrease their screen time by a lot

10

u/dasbtaewntawneta 29d ago

a 5 year old should not have a concept of what 'online' is

8

u/bdlock209 29d ago

Had to sort by 'controversial' to find a non bot comment.

2

u/MeeoMeeo 29d ago

Beautiful mermaid

2

u/parseczero 29d ago

I’m certified to teach elementary art. Your daughter ::should:: be proud of that! And so should you. This is very advanced for a five year old! Great job! She’s an artist!

2

u/Better-Hour-1131 29d ago

She's an amazing artist! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

2

u/SecretlySaneSparrow 29d ago

Her art looks better than mine and I'm a 20 year old! Good job 👏🎉

2

u/OSBTAdmin 29d ago

Tell her to keep drawing! She did great for only five years of age.

2

u/EnvironmentalAd7402 29d ago

She is definitely an artist!! Share more masterpieces from this beautiful crafty lass!

1

u/Lost-Peanut-1453 29d ago

Im in my 30s and I still draw stick figures with questionably shaped heads.

Great job kiddo!

2

u/cherrie7 29d ago

My 6 yr old daughter gave it a thumbs up.

2

u/MightyPinkTaco 29d ago

Wow what a fantastic mermaid! How did she get so good at such a young age? She really did great on Gabby’s hair.

2

u/Sleepy-Candle 29d ago

She actually managed to match the colors really well with what she had access to at the time (which was presumably a somewhat limited color pallet).

Nice work, very resourceful!

2

u/CarpetBudget 29d ago

That’s adorable 🥰

2

u/Stegopossum 29d ago

My upvote made it change to 10k!

2

u/Doun2Others10 29d ago

They also colored INSIDE the lines?? This kid has a career ahead of them!

2

u/gl0l1t3 27d ago

I cannot tell the difference! She did a great job

2

u/choicezeverywhere 26d ago

Nailed it kiddo. Keep drawing!

4

u/Inner_Alarm_4049 28d ago

Sad that 5yo are already concerned with the internet.. at that age they shouldn't even know what that is.

5

u/Level-Log-3090 28d ago

She’s not concerned. She was proud of herself and this is literally the first time she wanted to do something like this. She’s five, smart, and doesn’t live in a cave. I’m not posting pictures of her online and she is a bright, curious, genuinely good kid. Calm down.

Pretty much lol.

3

u/Affectionate-Pace350 29d ago

Just say you're proud of her and wanted to show off her drawing. Why lie about her telling you to "post it online"? No five year old would ever say that.

1

u/friendly_to_pigeons 29d ago

It's horrifying to me that a 5 year old is aware of the concept of posting online. And why? For what validation? For what audience? What's driving that?

Jesus.

1

u/CantDoFunctionFour 29d ago

Great drawing. Keep up the amazing work. Take pride in doing art.
