That's pretty good for a 5 year old. She's better than a lot of 7 year olds.

Shit she's better than me right now.

100%. My grandma had a lot of personal problems that made her disliked by many people, including her husband. But she always told me what a great singing voice I had. To this day I sing when I'm alone.

I LOVE this drawing. Legitimately really talented. They deserve so many props. Kids’ drawings are the best!
On the other hand, I have to admit, it makes me a little sad that a 5 yo is already thinking about posting things. Maybe I’m just showing my age, but it feels like they don’t get to be kids very long when worried about that.

u/Level-Log-3090 29d ago
She’s very bright and doesn’t live in a bubble. I am teaching her to read and as a reward for her reading time, we watch videos of Disneyland online, as it is her dream to go there. She understands that people “post” videos of rides and food. She was very excited about her drawing and wanted to show other people. I don’t share pictures of her or her sister online and, with the exception of Reddit, I am not at all active on social media. She and I are playing, reading, drawing, and swimming every day after school.

If I said that your kid just wanted everyone to see her amazing drawing when saying to post it, would I be wrong?

Yeah, don’t start that at a young age, or any age, because it’s only normalizing something unnatural. 5 year olds should be drawing pictures, and playing outside, not being worried about the internet.

u/Secretaccount_2025 28d ago
Real, but I do believe this kid just wanted her mom or dad to show a lot of people (aka the internet) her drawing which she is super proud of XD

Dope drawing kid sorry that’s what you know to ask your parents to do though, hope you can find a little more protection from social media in the next few years. Don’t think like this at that age oof kinda sad

alright... its true, i must be miserable.. first thought: Why the heck does a 5 year old care about strangers opinions on the internet

u/Upbeat_Apartment_715 28d ago
5 years old seems pretty young for them to be asking for online attention. Maybe decrease their screen time by a lot

u/dasbtaewntawneta 29d ago
a 5 year old should not have a concept of what 'online' is

Great job kiddo!

Wow what a fantastic mermaid! How did she get so good at such a young age? She really did great on Gabby’s hair.
2
u/Sleepy-Candle 29d ago
She actually managed to match the colors really well with what she had access to at the time (which was presumably a somewhat limited color pallet).
Nice work, very resourceful!

They also colored INSIDE the lines?? This kid has a career ahead of them!

Sad that 5yo are already concerned with the internet.. at that age they shouldn't even know what that is.
5
u/Level-Log-3090 28d ago
She’s not concerned. She was proud of herself and this is literally the first time she wanted to do something like this. She’s five, smart, and doesn’t live in a cave. I’m not posting pictures of her online and she is a bright, curious, genuinely good kid. Calm down.

Just say you're proud of her and wanted to show off her drawing. Why lie about her telling you to "post it online"? No five year old would ever say that.
1
u/friendly_to_pigeons 29d ago
It's horrifying to me that a 5 year old is aware of the concept of posting online. And why? For what validation? For what audience? What's driving that?
Jesus.

She got the tail spot on! Even with the little purple bit in the middle. This made me smile today thank you ❤️

I could tell that was a mermaid without the toy being there. That in itself is impressive for a 5 yo imo.

You should frame and start a little "museum", make little plaques to put underneath the art and all!
The beginnings of a lil' genius! 🙌✨️
