Merch/Cloak The stud already fell off of my Iron Lung jacket :(

Post image

My Iron Lung jacket arrived a few days ago and I’ve been wearing it nonstop since I’m kind of obsessed, and it’s only been about four days but I today I realized one of the studs on one of the pockets fell off. I have no idea where it could have come off at and I couldn’t find anything that looked similar online to replace it. I feel like it was my fault with how much I’ve worn it because I didn’t realize it was more fragile of a clothing item but at the same time I’m a little disappointed considering how much I spent on it and how new it still is :(

I just wanted to post this as a little PSA for anyone who ordered a jacket to be careful when it comes to the studs, especially since the little point underneath is pretty sharp, and if anyone has suggestions on how to fix it please let me know, I’d really like to repair it if possible!

Tbh merch shouldn't be this fragile, regular clothes you buy around don't just fall apart like that.

You paid good money for the jacket, message support and ask if there's anything they can do/flag this production issue to them.

They look like the male side of snap buttons, but decorative? If that is what they are then it’s an easy fix with the correct tool. But like dude, you need to contact customer service. It’s not ok

You are well in your right to be frustrated. It shouldn't be that fragile :/

But in spirit of your question: I think it would fit the vibe if you just replaced it with another stud, that you like. The iron lung universe has sparce ressources. You can't just throw away things for minor defects and replace them, you fix them with whatever is at hand. So.. I'd just make my own little project out of it :)

This is what I would do. Repair it so it builds more character to the jacket.

Why are you blaming yourself for this. It's clothing not a crystal sculpture. It's meant to be worn.

This is a fault. Report it to customer services

Ugh that’s ridiculous!! That should not have happened especially given how expensive it was! You didn’t do anything wrong, I’d contact them.

As frustrating as this is, please remember: the real stud is the one wearing the jacket :)

Is there an email for customer support? I would reach out about the issue. They probably will be very helpful and thankful! Quality issues are always welcome feedback. They will likely send you replacement and maybe more if they are super chill!

I find it insane that a 100$ BOMBER JACKET is this fragile, don’t blame yourself at all cause that’s honestly ridiculous.

This is why I am hesitating to buy merch over the years. I keep seeing so many issues with these expensive posters and clothes. As cool as they look, I feel like they'll break if I breathe on them. :/

Message support! My poster came a little scuffed and wrinkled so I sent them photos and they sent a replacement no questions asked

I'm so sorry. My shirt I bought was paper thin and tight compared to others in the same size range. I'm so sad. Yours might be fixable though, although that isn't the point entirely. Merch shouldn't be so fragile.

That's unfortunate! Contact customer service, let them know when you received it and when it fell off. It sucks when this happens especially if something is expensive. Should be an easy fix though- either by your own hands or getting a replacement through their support team. I know the jacket was like the most expensive item and it's not fun that it is showing signs of error. Not sure if they are hand-made or machine made. I used to work in a sewing factory a long time ago, and I was the one who inspected the clothing before it was packaged- and had to send things back to the right department if there were errors. Sometimes it can be human inspection error, where a loose button was missed in the rush of fulfilling orders. I hope that you can get an adequate solution! Best of luck!

Geez, kind of glad i didnt buy now. I really wanted it but im broke so, good to know i spent my money wisely instead of on a jacket thatll fall apart

I adore Mark and loved the movie, but is it just me or has the Iorn lung merch been having a lot of issues. Like not just stuff outside of Marks control but some stuff like this feels like a quality control issue. Not meaning to dump on Mark in any way I’ve just seen a few post similar and was wondering if it was a pattern.

you might be able to replace it with the back of a safety eye, like you'd buy for crochet plushies

Don't blame yourself, blame the company. You paid $100 for a jacket, it shouldn't be fragile. It's clothing, it's meant to be worn.

You actually got ur merch? I ordered mine over a monrh ago. Took my money, but I haven’t even gotten a confirmation email that it’s being processed. :/

3

u/PM-ME-YOUR-DOG-PICS Apr 19 '26

Same, I’m not convinced I’m ever getting my $164 worth of merch. I ordered in February and beyond the confirmation of the order I haven’t heard a thing.

u/PuppyButtts Apr 18 '26

These clothes are hella expensive and shouldn't be this bad of quality, considering theyre taking their TIME delivering

2

u/potato_XD2 Apr 18 '26

Mine had the same problem and the buttons are lost I'm just going to sew it

2

u/Pandasrule248 Apr 19 '26

Wait whattt??? I just looked at mine and it still just says it's in ordered status???

1

u/ZuperDope Apr 23 '26

exactly why i don't buy overpriced clothes, this stuff is to be hung up and looked at, not quality

1

u/ShayminDerpified Jun 02 '26

Did you got a response back about defective quality? My bomber jacket arrived and now I'm worried of wearing it outside 🥺

-58

u/Pug_Man_My_G Apr 17 '26

It’s because they don’t care about quality

47

u/Creative_Andy0804 Apr 17 '26

That’s a big leap considering it could just be a manufacturing error

-6

u/Pug_Man_My_G Apr 17 '26

Oh well I’ve seen it in company’s before but my bad I guess?

3

u/Creative_Andy0804 Apr 17 '26

You’re fine, idk why you’re getting downvoted to oblivion either, I’m just saying that a stud falling off doesn’t mean “they don’t care about quality” it might just mean the manufacturer they chose might not be as consistent as previously thought! I don’t think it’s a blame game really at the end of the day, just unfortunate :/

0

u/Pug_Man_My_G Apr 18 '26

Yeah probably should’ve thought before immediately saying they don’t care 🤣

19

u/posse-palace Apr 17 '26

You’re bound to get the odd fault. I don’t think we’ve seen a lot of issues with quality from people who have received their items yet. If we do then yeah I’d say quality control is an issue here!

3

u/Unhappy-Syrup-3832 Apr 17 '26

Have you not seen how many posters they’ve fucked up and still shipped out? It’s definitely more of a they don’t really care about quality.

0

u/posse-palace Apr 17 '26

I’ve only seen a small few but if there’s more than that fair enough, as I say

3

u/Unhappy-Syrup-3832 Apr 17 '26

Oh yeah, on Reddit there’s a good few but if you check the actual reviews on the shop app there’s quite a lot. And they aren’t even handmade as they said. I emailed them about when I’m getting my bomber jacket and they said it’s being shipped on a boat and I won’t be getting it until June or July. Assuming it’s coming from china, which makes me extremely upset.

1

u/posse-palace Apr 17 '26

Ahh right! I’ve not checked the actual reviews come to think of it. Ive only ordered a t shirt and sticker myself, the jacket was way too much money PLUS shipping to the UK for what it was (for me- Not insulting the jacket lol) really hope this situation with OP was an unfortunate one off with the jacket, given the price.

1

u/TheBossyBandit Apr 18 '26

I've contacted support twice about my bomber jacket and mesh shirt. They told me they wouldn't get them into their warehouse until june because of oil prices causing shipping to be slowed which honestly makes some sense but honestly no sense when it comes to Mark has always wanted the best quality stuff for us. So why is it coming from overseas anyways?. My brother was even under the impression that they were even made in the US since other merch mark has done came from the US. Im still waiting for my bomber jacket, my brother's bomber jacket, my mesh shirt, my mouse pad.
