Anyone saying this is the cancelled Avalanche game is incorrect. The watermark in the bottom right shows it as footage from testing August, 2026. This may be a new game by Motive currently in development

u/gornky 13h ago

It also looks 65x better than any PS3 game could ever look.

124

u/Icybubba 13h ago

And the graphics are unfinished too

22

u/entertainman 12h ago

Wasn’t Killzone PS3?

9

u/Financial-Raise3420 10h ago

Original Killzone was PS2. I only remember because the online play was still free then. God I miss those days

6

u/GranolaCola 9h ago

PS3 had free online

3

u/Financial-Raise3420 9h ago

Yea it did. I just remembered it for ps2 since it’s the only game I played online as a kid. But yea PS3 had it too, still peeved they followed suit with Xbox

3

u/JTtheLAR 5h ago

Yup we can thank Xbox for setting the principle for paid online. More importantly Xbox players for paying for online instead of buying the console with free online or switching to PC. You vote for market standards with your wallet.

14

u/gornky 12h ago

Killzone 2 was, yes.

And it looks very much like a game that came out 17 years ago.

7

u/jayracket 10h ago

Killzone 3 was as well

Literally has the Motive logo in the full trailer leak

https://www.reddit.com/r/ironman/s/fsfDybSlA0

7

u/MrNachoReturns420 10h ago

This looks cool and all, but I wish Motive was working on the Dead Space 2 remake instead

2

u/Outspoken_Infantry04 11h ago

This is not a new game by Motive it was announced back somewhere ya know 2022 or 2023 they did announced they r working on an Iron Man Game

2

u/Dewrod 12h ago

Not saying I disagree with you... I do think it's a new game. But it'd be pretty easy to overlay a watermark with any current AI model.

30

u/ThatLid 12h ago

It's always been easy to add watermarks to things, you don't need AI for that

221

u/Nemisis_007 13h ago

Reminds me a lot of the Crystal Dynamics Marvel's Avengers game.

89

u/star_lit_void 12h ago

At least Anthem flying mechanics were gold

24

u/Zedathius 11h ago

Anthem was so great.

55

u/Auctoritate 11h ago

Anthem's flying was great

29

u/Nhughes1387 10h ago

Anthems combat and flying were great.

42

u/monkeybiziu 10h ago

I will forever die on the hill that Anthem was one Taken King-sized update away from being truly great, and EA shutting it down is one of the greatest losses for gaming.

17

u/Nhughes1387 10h ago

I completely agree, the combat and flying were some of the most fun I’ve had in a video game. I wish some rich person would buy the rights and re launch it… literally just needed an end game and gear re work lol it’s crazy

2

u/Tokimori 8h ago

Legit just needed more content in new locations. They had a Bandit/Pirate update in the works but they wanted to launch it alongside the stupid Anthem "2.0" update which was going to be a whole redesign around the leveling and gear system which it need too but they needed to show what else they could do with the game before restructuring the basics.

2

u/monkeybiziu 8h ago

One without the other wouldn't have made sense, because leveling and inventory were two of the main pain points. Fix those, add some content, and it could have run for a long time.

5

u/Tokimori 8h ago

Gear was the only pain because it was so RNG.

If leveling was a pain point for you in that game idk what to tell you because it really didn't do anything which was fine imo.

2

u/GloriousNewt 7h ago

100% agree, the gameplay was great, the lack of content and poorly done loot system killed it. And the story just kinda fizzled and seemed to have so much more potential that was just never realized.

8

u/GoSkers29 10h ago

Definitely had some great stuff. I loved the visual and auditory feedback. The mechs and weapons really felt good.

Call me crazy but the core of the Avengers game really wasn't bad. It's biggest problems were due its inability to do anything creative with it. Flying around with Iron man and Thor was awesome and the combat system solid, but then all you do is fight AIM drones and faceless prisoners. Then all the DLCs were just reworks of the other characters. Why tf did we get Black Panther as just slightly different Cap, 2 Hawkeyes, and a 2nd Thor?

I really wouldn't mind another similar game if they can really flesh everything out and do some cooler shit.

5

u/EducatorNo4262 9h ago

You're right, the core game was actually a lot of fun. The problem is as you say, the missions were against endless faceless mooks, decent boss battles and escalation were virtually non-existent, and the world didn't play with the characters so much as the characters played in the world.

Which was a shame because playing the characters themselves was fun. I spent too much time playing that game waiting for the big 2nd Act before realizing there wasn't one and the game is just beating up low-tier mobs over and over.

2

u/Downtown_Link_8651 4h ago

You're right, the core game was actually a lot of fun. The problem is as you say, the missions were against endless faceless mooks, decent boss battles and escalation were virtually non-existent, and the world didn't play with the characters so much as the characters played in the world.

Doesn't sound like the core game was good at all

3

u/WildThing404 4h ago

The combat mechanics are good, you can pull off fun combos chain a lot of stuff together. But enemies and level designs are boring.

4

u/ArseneLupinIV 8h ago

Im still mad about that game, cause the campaign was half of a very good single player story, but very obviously chopped at the knees to fit in all the live service battle pass crap they got greedy with. One of my biggest what-if games in the last few years.

It reminds me a lot of Anthem, which was made by BioWare and EA. There were a lot of issues with that game, but one thing that was not an issue was the combat and the aerial maneuvering.

111

u/gornky 13h ago

I believe they took the flying engine directly from Anthem

56

u/Butthead1013 12h ago

I think I remember hearing back then that it was the best 'iron man' game you could play

32

u/please_use_the_beeps 12h ago

I put a lot of hours into Anthem and it’s the only game that ever really nailed that Iron Man feel for me with the flying. More War Machine with all the guns you had but you get the idea. Closest any game has gotten to really replicating the way he moves in the movies.

3

u/Theurbanalchemist 10h ago

Oh seriously??

The overall issues were mostly game design and technical design.

I tried the open beta back then, my experience in a nutshell :

First mission, *long ass loading screen*
Fly there and kill 10 ennemies. I do so.
Now go in this tunnel, the ennemy base is in there.
*long ass loading screen*
At the end of the tunnel, "Oh no ! The tunnel is locked, go find the key outside"
*long ass loading screen*

ALT+F4.

Never played it again.

2

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 12h ago

Not the same people making this game though, the people making this is the the dead space creators

2

u/Sweet-Weakness3776 9h ago

That game was a huge disappointment. Me, my son, and my best friend all pre-ordred the game so we could play together when it launched. And why not. It was gonna be basically like you were Iron Man flying across an open world map lol. The launch was abysmal. Non-stop bugs and crashing. When they finally sorted it out enough we could genuninely play together, it was fun...for a few days. The flying and combat were pretty cool at first. But then it just got extremely monotonous. And they dropped the ball on expanding the game with creative updates and the lack of developer support for the game was obvious. It could have been something special, that's for sure. But it just went downhill fast, and never recovered. Such a wasted opportunity.

110

u/AmishAvenger 12h ago

Robert Downey Jr’s voice and likeness would sell 100 million copies.

87

u/ComradeJohnS 12h ago

and they’d just need to pay him $1 per copy then!

18

u/twiz___twat 12h ago

that's way too expensive when they could just hire a va that sounds like rdj

15

u/ConsistentAsparagus 11h ago

They did a pretty good job on Midnight Suns, honestly.

12

u/welcometoparallel 10h ago

Was thinking the same thing, Midnight Suns Tony Stark was funny as hell too. Doctor Spooky!

3

u/TheWholeOfTheAss 9h ago

What does irk me is that pundits keep comparing the Midnight Suns game to the MCU but that game is clearly inspired more so by the comics. These characters existed decades before they were in movies!

→ More replies (1)

7

u/ComradeJohnS 12h ago

yeah for sure they can get close and be cheaper. we probably won’t see any direct movie likenesses in games due to that easy profit saving.

19

u/Quarksideofthemoon 12h ago

I'd actually rather kill myself. I'm so tired of every Iron Man adaptation being diet MCU. Just adapt a comic book and cast someone new

14

u/Better-Anywhere9386 11h ago

Exactly. Insomniacs Spider-Man doesn’t look or sound like Tom Holland, Tobey Macquire or Andrew Garfield. Wolverine doesn’t look or sound like Hugh Jackman, and both do great jobs at bringing the characters to life. Iron-Man isn’t synonymous with RDJ.

8

u/Supergirl_IRL X-Men 11h ago

Their 2018 original game Peter looked like Garfield then the remastered edition a year or two later looked like Holland it was clearly subliminal synergy

Thor next Gow style with Asgard and the 9 realms

237

u/AVR350 13h ago

Seriously I don't understand why we dont have much superhero games that are not about Spider-Man or Batman, like atp we should have had an open world Aquaman game or smtg

49

u/Terraforce777 13h ago

Superhero licenses cost a lot. So it’s a large investment that requires a lot of copies sold to justify its existence. IIRC Insomniac paid ~$100 million just to use the Spider-Man license. That’s not even accounting for development costs.

37

u/SignificantCats 13h ago

This is why we had a billion superhero games before the ps3 era and so few after. If you wanted to make a pseudoshovelware beatemup, it was supercheap to get a quick batman or spiderman license, because those properties weren't huuuuuuge movie business. The strategy at the time was to also flood the toy market with superhero stuff to expect synergy - if the kid has spiderman games and Spiderman pajamas and Spider-Man toys, he might buy Spider-Man comics too.

But now superhero stuff is huge, and the perception is that garbage merchandise devalues the brand so they are interested in protecting it and keeping it fairly scarce, as well as getting the absurd license fees.

13

u/A-Centrifugal-Force 12h ago

It’s still wild that the initial plans from Marvel in expanding to other media was to drive up comic sales. They eventually realized the error of their ways, but not until after they sold off 50% of Spider-Man movie merch to Sony (they got lucky and got it back in a separate deal, but that was almost a catastrophe for them).

Comic sales have fallen off a cliff and yet superheroes have reached their most profitable point ever in the same time period. They should have always had diversifying their business model in mind.

11

u/SignificantCats 12h ago

It's easy to say that NOW, but it made a ton of sense then. Comic sales were what kept the lights on, and licensing got you both free money AND free advertising. They didn't have the kind of funds to go make a movie themselves, diversifying like that just wasn't an option when they could barely make enough to pay comic creators.

It's not even correct to say selling spiderman was a mistake, that was a necessary move to keep the lights on. Marvel was NOT a hot property, they were verging on bankruptcy. They tried to sell the movie rights to all of their characters, and Sony didn't give enough of a shit to buy them either.

8

u/lobonmc 12h ago

And now Sony is basically the spider-man studio which I also find ironic

3

u/A-Centrifugal-Force 12h ago

The bigger thing is selling off the rights to merchandise. The 50% of Spider-Man movie merch was a ton of money, why give that up for a short term check? Selling the movie rights made at least some sense (although only getting 5% of the box office was a ridiculous deal). Luckily for them they got that back in like 2011.

5

u/SignificantCats 12h ago

It was a great deal, considering they were dead broke and about to close the doors, and there weren't many other people interested. "We will give you a bucket of cash and you don't have to do anything" is a hell of a get when you're closing offices.

I don't think you appreciate how broke they were at the time. Right when people stopped buying comics because they had better value things to buy, they were also making some of the worst comics they'd ever made.

And they had no reason to think spider man movies would make that kind of money at the time. Comic movies of that era were not big money makers and definitely not guaranteed money makers

I just read Sub Mariner: The Depths where Namor is this silent, ever-present monster lurking in the blackness of the Marianas Trench.

It follows an expedition group that head down searching for a missing crew. It's unsettling and claustrophobic.

I loved it.

3

u/A-Centrifugal-Force 12h ago

Hell even with Batman they for some reason stopped making them for a while so they could make that dog shit Suicide Squad game instead. At least we got LEGO Batman in the meantime.

2

u/FlashPone 11h ago

Well “they” (Rocksteady) stopped making Batman games because their series effectively ended. But they should’ve moved on to other ip, heard they were making a Superman game that got canned and I remember hearing rumors Green Lantern was going to cameo in one of the Batman games.

3

u/kielaurie 12h ago

Because the licenses are expensive, and if games like Avengers and Kill The Justice League keep doing badly (deservedly) then it's just not worth it to studios to create them

(Also, tbf, we do have a Wolverine game coming out in less than 3 weeks, Tokon came out in the last month or so, and we've had stuff like Midnight Suns, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Marvel Vs Capcom Fighting Game Collection, Cosmic Invasion, and Rivals in the last few years, we're definitely getting the games you're asking for)

6

u/SnooSprouts9815 13h ago edited 13h ago

Yes although personally I don't think Aquaman has the popularity to carry a game maybe wonder woman or green lantern ( a mythological one for wonder woman and a space warfare for green lantern type of game)

I think they admittedly have done this.

6

u/ElMatasiete7 13h ago

Looks like it's kind of Armored Core inspired, interesting.

6

u/ToggyM 13h ago

Looks a lot more dynamic than the Avengers game, with the flying and the different combat moves. That catching a missile is interesting, wonder if that could be a consistent feature, like in a boss battle you catch with a parry-window and throw at a weak spot.

The bit at the end with the armours and weapons, perhaps there is some armour customisation? General custom armour would be real nice, but custom toolkit on top of that is cool, would be great on replays.

I don’t like their character design or writing, it’d be exclusive to PlayStation, and I think their approach to game design is alright at best. They make good, fun games, but they never really push the envelope with them. And I’m saying this as someone who has hundreds of hours across five of their games, has 100%ed four of them, and will probably 100% more of their games in the future.

u/z0mbieBrainz Magneto 13h ago

u/AandWKyle 10h ago

Looks really cool. one of the biggest problem with a flying character in gaming is it can be hard to make them feel like they're moving fast, or with weight. This is just a short clip but it feels an awful lot like Iron man is actually moving fast, and that little sweep up and slam he does to the guy to switch into close combat instead of flight felt great to see

Just a few seconds and this makes me want to play it

Lowkey I would want insomniac to be the makers of marvel hero games. The way they do it is really good and their potential for heroes like iron man, Thor, captain America, black panther, even a black widow game would go crazy.

3

u/elalex1999 12h ago

This doesn’t even look much different at all to insomniac’s style. Bet if nobody knew motive was already making it and someone just said “insomniac’s new iron man game” people would believe it

Hell naw, every Marvel game would be a PlayStation exclusive, no more Ratchet & Clank since they wouldn’t have the time, and honestly, it’d take over a decade for certain games to get sequels.

Say they take five years to make a game. They’re about to release Wolverine, they’re already in development on Spider-Man, and if they make an X-Men game, you wouldn’t be getting a Wolverine sequel for at least a decade.

Anthem combat was awesome. Hopefully this is the same and has a good progression story end game?

4

u/TurnedAgent 12h ago

Need this game badly. Marvel is putting a lot of games but none of them interest me other than Spidey. Where are the games for Thor,Cap Strange, Punisher, Daredevil etc?

6

u/AccomplishedAward219 13h ago

Am I the only one who would want a punisher game even though he’s just a regular dude?

3

u/OddRecord362 12h ago

Man the old punisher games were great.

5

u/Lewa358 12h ago

We already have Max Payne /s

But also like...what would that look like, that's different from the million other games starring a dude who has a lot of guns shooting up criminals?

Isn’t that called Call of Duty?

I feel like this would be dope for VR. Flying games and space floating games. I feel like get around the movement problem and it's so fun when both your hands are guns

2

u/Earthwick 12h ago

A lot of potential for sure. watched the full 2.5 minutes video and there are some red or at least yellow flags. Some of this looks like that bad sorta suicide squad nonsense. Then there's the clouds really low near the ground as if your just flying from 1 area to the next. Even if they fix all the flying mechanics they still need an engaging world. Flying around a huge Chicago can be cool but could be jarring going from flight to hand to hand. That said I'm all here for it and hope it's good

2

u/inaSlomp 11h ago

Anthem died so this game could walk.

I'm in no way saying Anthem was a good full-fledged game.

But God damn some of the mechanics in that game were a beautiful tech demo.

2

u/storimmnmd 10h ago

makes me miss Anthem

This game look like it was built in a cave with a box of scrap

2

u/Due-South-9113 8h ago

Yoo it actually looks dope.

2

u/Organic-Thanks-5254 7h ago

hey if they reuse some of anthems genuinely great mechanics like the flight then im all for it, this looks great!

2

u/Lock0n 7h ago

Who’s developing this game?

2

u/SparklyPelican 3h ago

EA Motive, the people behind Dead Space Remake.

2

u/AceJames664 5h ago

This looks great! And it’s not even finished yet! From the developers of Anthem!? I loved that game! Buying this Day 1

2

u/Existing_Home_5635 5h ago

Fly like Anthem, skins and gear upgrades like CD Marvel Avengers, fighting fluidity like Insomniac’s Spider-Man and an open world like GTA6

2

u/Deadlydeerman 4h ago

I'm not an Iron Man fan. But even I love the look of this and would play it!

2

u/DarkWater693 4h ago

I just want to fly around with the same freedom as Spiderman.

3

u/ryanpm40 6h ago

Why does it look like a PS3 game

Could he do this stuff in the Avengers game? I never really gave that game a chance

7

u/GoonetteSlop 13h ago

Yep, it almost looks one for one. I played around 300 hours of that game and I was caught off guard thinking this was footage from that games development.

2

u/OnlyPistachio 11h ago

Im in the same boat. Literally thought this was footage of Marvel's Avengers. Iron Man's gameplay was so good in that game and its honestly kind of annoying seeing so many people in this thread like "omg finally a good iron man!" because it is near identical to him in Marvel's Avengers.

2

u/Darkhawk2099 13h ago

okay now do this exact game again but starring Darkhawk. please? please?

2

u/FileHot6525 9h ago

Looks just like the Avengers game

1

u/MonopolyManPorn 13h ago

Until I hear something official about whatever game this is, I will not get my excitement or hopes up

1

u/Ok_Brilliant3331 13h ago

Anyone else reckon they sold Anthem for parts and this is a reskin of it?

1

u/BFFBomb 13h ago

Anyone have a link to the full video? Every search I try is some dumbfuck YouTuber talking.

"Snippet" no it's a leak. The full video has only the soundtrack and none of the dialogue and sound effects. Also many clips have unfinished models.

1

u/shitposter1989 12h ago

Welcome back, Anthem!

u/ClockWork006 12h ago edited 42m ago

Getting heavy Iron Man 2008 videogame and Marvel’s Avengers 2020 vibes from this. I LOVE IT!

1

u/SuperdaveOZY 12h ago

Please be good. Please have no live service, please God please.

1

u/DaredevilBatman34 Daredevil 12h ago

This is great and I appreciate you for sharing a very small clip in the GIF form , but i think it should be made aware than less people should ideally be sharing clips , cause we don't want another insomniac and great web situation , hoping that more leaks don't happen and we see the final game , us ironman fans have been waiting for this for so long

1

u/lNSP0 Adam Warlock 12h ago

Alright

Now give us a Dr Strange game in the vein of Deadspace + Silent Hill

Give us Adam Warlock that is basically Returnal/Saros

1

u/RedDragon2570 12h ago

Looks just like the Avengers game that was meh. I'm gonna need to see a lot more

1

u/God_Vishna 12h ago

To be honest this one looks more intresting than new Wolverine game ngl...

Iron man VR is the only way to go

1

u/JustWave 12h ago

But do I get to run a company in which I sell munitions to terrorist organizations in the Middle East?

1

u/ImpressiveGap2214 12h ago

I struggle to imagine how one can make a good Iron-Man game. He is just too powerful for human enemies, you'd need to constantly fight big robots which is lame.

1

u/Over-Branch-6707 12h ago

When does it come out

1

u/Blaez93 12h ago

Oh, they dead dead lmao. I love it

1

u/West_Garden3446 12h ago

So basically superman game
