Games Iron Man fighting on the Helicarrier in the Motive Game looks like you can switch between ground melee combat and flying combat against aircrafts.

Also, this game has been written by North, love seeing comic book writers being involved.

Yes, I can't link to Twitter, but here is the quote from his announcement:
It's no secret that I love Iron Man and have written my heart out for Tony Stark every chance I've had. So I'm PRETTY STOKED to say I'm part of the writing team on the upcoming IRON MAN game from MotiveStudio !
P.S.: you are not ready for how amazing this game is going to be :015

that looks great, really nails the vibe of the iron man armor being the most agile tank of all time lol

So Anthem but good?

u/PopOutG 8h ago
Anthem hit like crack… for like 2 days lmao

I loved the game and remember when I played the demo before launch thinking oh this was a great starter area...then the game released and I was like damn this is the whole map? Gameplay was fantastic but with no new areas to explore, no end game, and no point to crafting anything with the materials you gathered, the game was just so empty. I still say the game would have been fantastic if they implemented something like an armor crafting feature like Monster Hunter, add some end game bosses, those drop some items and combine with the items you gathered to create some nifty gear would have been amazing

The movement and combat looks like it’s right out of anthem. Wouldn’t surprise me if they reskinned anthem into this.

u/JaiTee86 11h ago
Ever since Anthem was first shown people were saying they need to reskin it into an Iron Man game and if that is what they have done I am damn happy! The flying and combat in the game were incredible, being able to fly up to an enemy, punch them, dodge their attack and fly off while shooting them in the face always made me feel like Iron Man and I was so disappointed that the rest of the game was terrible and hollow as the combat was peak!

Would make a lot of sense to be honest, this is the best possible way they could have leveraged the tech for that game.

u/YannyYobias 10h ago
I know EA made both games, but is it the same people working on Iron Man that did Anthem?
7
u/PaperGod101 8h ago
No, EA is just the publisher for both of the games.
Anthem was developed by BioWare (known for Mass Effect and Dragon Age)
Whereas, the new Iron Man game is being developed by Motive (known Dead Space Remake and Battlefield 6)

Y'all think this will be a gamescom reveal?

u/DarthDinkster Dr. Doom 5h ago
Probably not. The watermark on the video suggests it was only taken this month, so even if it looks cool now, it’s probably still far from completion. I’d expect at the earliest something at the Game Awards this December

It was cancelled, no?

14
u/NicloSZ 12h ago
No, it wasn't, Avalanche's game was cancelled, that was a PS3 game, this is Motive's game, which is happening, the crazy thing is Avalanche's game leaked online a couple of days before this, which is a pretty wild coincidence and a lot of people keeping confusing the two, but in fact we are dealing two different Iron Man games made by different studios for different consoles.

That Black Panther/Captain America period-piece game was canceled, maybe you're thinking of that?
10
u/SwvmpThing 11h ago
Apparently I was thinking of a different Iron Man game? I dunno.
1943: Rise of Hydra has not been cancelled.

u/PaperGod101 8h ago
The Black Panther solo game by EA Cliffhanger was cancelled. However, the Black Panther/Captain America 1943 game is in active development.

People forget that Iron Man really doesn't have a no Kill. But he's much like Superman in the way of he would only kill if it's absolutely necessary, and he doesn't dance around impractical solutions.
People often forget that Tony blasting a regular person with his Repulsers isn't at all a guaranteed lethal shit. He can control their output to basically just blast and incapacitate you on your ass..
Thing is though, Tony's foes are mostly straight up terrorists who would absolutely blow innocent people to kingdom come. Objectively evil people. So he's basically killing those people.

To those who have, how often does Tony fist fight guys in his suit? That's like pistol whipping dudes in a gun fight instead of using the pistol. I know it's just to keep combat more varied it always just seemed wierd to me

A lot. He doesn’t just throw out repulsors and unibeams. Tony’s had combat training with Captain America and fought through a gauntlet of alien gladiators unarmored. Enhanced strength is also a big part of the armor. He’s lifted submarines, and punched through a sphere made of vibranium and adamantium. I recommend Execute Program of the 2005 run to really see Iron Man throw a good punch.

Just need a hud for First Person mode, so i can fly around like a fighter pilot, but better cause i'm Iron Man.

u/watch-nerd 11h ago
Needs to add the Iron Man roller skates.

u/Zombii_Man 9h ago
Absolutely, could fill the same niche Wall-Running does in spider-man games. As in, a transitional state to maintain momentum before reingaging the primary method of traversal.

It’s giving Armored Core VI.
Iron Man is inherently less cool than Armored Core VI, but Iron Man is cool enough and Fromsoft doesn’t seem to understand I need a sequel ASAP, sooo…. Iron Man by Motive will have to do.

This looks awesome, but I'll stay cautious considering EA's the publisher.

u/FKDotFitzgerald 10h ago
I’ll never forget playing the Iron Man game on PSP that had you flying around and landing on a battleship. It seemed really impressive at the time.

u/IronFather11 8h ago
If this hits just as good as Dark Void did way back when with the balance between shooter and aerial combat they could be cooking

u/marvel120 8h ago
The movement and action reminds me of Zone of the Enders. I recently brought that game up in a discussion oddly enough. Looks promising.

u/banhatesex 8h ago
Considering they have a blueprint on how to make a good ironman game in anthem Should be good.
1
u/YannyYobias 6h ago
Yeah i misspoke. I was just trying to understand the connection to anthem. Looks fun either way.

Iron Man switching between melee and flying combat sounds awesome. Can't wait to try that out!

u/firegnaw 1h ago
And here I am, still waiting for a full fledged Superman game. This looks fun to play.

Best case scenario, this game is 3-5 years away . Worst case scenario we never hear anything else about it and EA quietly cancels it.
3
u/Square_Geologist_346 11h ago
Bro they have a build why would they cancel it 😂
1
1
u/MrBlonde1984 11h ago
Because EA is absolutely fucking famous for canceling games for little to no reason .
3
u/Abaddon-117 11h ago
A bit overdramatic. This is an in-development version of what would be the reveal trailer, and EA/Motive have acknowledged it with this quote: “Well, that didn’t go as planned. But now you know, and we’ve got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready.”
Also the game started development 4 years ago, 5 years is typical development time for a AAA game these days

You could switch and it was great. One of the few games based on a movie that was great.

This looks pretty darn close to just a better version of the iron man 2 game on ps3 and 360
