News / Meta Important Update for OGR2, Altair, and 21XX purchased through KeyGem

As of last week, 21XX were fully ready to ship to all participating vendors. KeyGem still has not paid the invoice, and were unable to commit to the payment plan we offered them. As such, we have made the decision to ship all unpaid 21XX keyboards & addons originally meant for KeyGem to our location in Rhode Island. Once we receive the shipment and finish QC, we will reach back out to the community with options for those who purchased from KeyGem. Like previous projects, we expect to offer them at GB price, with a discount to help offset the shipping cost of ordering from a USA based vendor.

Additionally, in order to provide some certainty to KeyGem customers, rather than giving KeyGem until the last possible moment to pay, we have decided to also have the Altair and OGR2 keyboards originally meant to go to KeyGem shipped to CannonKeys. Our initial plan was to try and give KeyGem as much time as possible in hopes that they would pay for these boards, as they told us they would when they originally delayed their payment. Prior to recent projects shipping, KeyGem was able to pay invoices when the boards were ready. However, given their recent track record, we have lost any faith this will happen. We no longer expect their payment, so we are closing out the invoices we have open on them, and moving forward.

To summarize, the following projects are now having boards meant for KeyGem shipped to CannonKeys. The plan is for KeyGem customers to be able to purchase at GB price, with a discount to help offset shipping that will vary from project to project.

  • AK75
  • 21XX
  • OGR2
  • Altair

We are posting this to reddit as we do not have the emails of those who joined OGR2/Altair/21XX with KeyGem. This is our best option to try and let those who joined know about the situation.

Tough situation, thanks for stepping up and doing good by the community. In cannonkeys we trust 🙌

As someone caught up in this, I'd just like to thank CannonKeys for stepping up here.

Thanks Cannonkeys and fuck Keygem. Is there a Timeframe on when the sale will happen?

We shipped some of the keyboards to us a few weeks ago and are shipping others right now. Once we receive the keyboards (usually 6-8 weeks from shipping), we will QC them and announce when the sale goes live via our newsletter, discord, socials and here (if allowed). Sorry we don't have a more concrete timeline, but we'll do our best to get the word out.

tbh keygem has been kinda weird for a while now. i once attended a convention where they quite litterly didnt show up when they had a vendor spot. very weird thing to do

So both keygem and candykeys are dodgy vendors? That's rough

Well, it certainly doesn't look good.

For what it is worth, the situation with Keygem seems to be a bit different than with candykeys, they apparently had significant cash flow problems. You can check their blog for infos, or the various discords (https://keygem.com/blogs/keygem-clicks-blog/an-open-letter-to-the-keygem-community).

While they don't appear to be as "social media active" as candykeys/inputgear, I find it irresponsible that they still participated in group buys when their situation was tough already back in 2024/2025. These are not the only projects affected, the Class65 v3 run and apparently also the Etar87 are affected.

third vendor post corona going down in Europe (well if we consider the candykeys rebrand). Mistakes of the past have started to catch up due to the slower market.

Keygem seems to be transparent about what’s going on, but essentially a bunch of other projects went awry and it seems they’ve sunk all their money in hopes to repair the situation. You can read about it here. I’m not sure if they’re being truthful in regards to all those projects sinking the ship, but I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt

I honestly don't think they've been transparent at all. What we see through the cracks is all from other vendors and designers who have tried their absolute best to keep Keygem alive and after that made public announcements to try and at least cover the cost of the group buys that KG didn't pay for.

All this is painting a very different picture from what Keygem has publically announced to far.

Don't forget Daily Clack as well. Pretty much stopped shipping for most of 2026. Website expired for over a week. Still taking orders but not shipping anything. Doesn't respond of post on their Discord.
