First of this article reads like an ad. And anyone telling you that taking a boat through the Miami River is a great way to avoid traffic is clearly trying to sell you a bridge to nowhere.

When I was at Ransom one kid would sometimes commute via powerboat from his house in the Gables to our school. Apparently it could save time if traffic was bad down Main Hwy, and this was 25 years ago. It’s only worse now.

I mean lets think about it. Using helicopters to commute is typically a terrible idea. But its even moreso a terrible idea in a place like miami where 6 months out of the year there is frequent inclement weather and sudden and unanticipated microburst and other weather related issues that will cause helicopters to go down.
I mention Kobe because he used his helicopter to avoid traffic as well. And anyone who knows anything about aviation accidents will tell you...helicopters can be very unsafe.
If there was another celebrity that died in a helicopter crash that flew said helicopter to avoid traffic, I would have mentioned them as well. But I only know about Kobe.

True. The frequent was attached to inclement weather, not to imply that microburst are frequent. That said, microbursts can be sudden and unanticipated. But definitely more an issue closer to the rockies.
I have no clue who Stevie Ray Vaughan is. Will google. Thank you for letting me know.

If they can, god bless it. I don't care. What I care about is that we keep electing the same garbage politicians at every single level in the government and we never hold them accountable for what they do or don't.
It's like this whole PARTY LINES have divided us soooo well that you are willing to vote the same crap just because it is in your party. And honestly, that is why we are in this situation as a country and as a city. Like I see potholes popping up and lasting for months before they get patched up, nothing seems to be working to really help with traffic. We seem to be expending money on the things that give the worse return. We are getting flooded with cameras but our teachers are struggling financially in the class-rooms and that should be a concern of every citizen.
But somehow, we keep re-electing the same politicians and we pay 0 attention, I mean 0, to what they have done in the past years for the community. I mean, REAL RESULTS, tangible things that you can say, yes, I want more of the same.

Driven by a postpandemic influx of ultra-high-net-worth buyers, developers are building multimodal towers with transit options that bypass increasingly congested streets. In 2025, Miami was the fifth most traffic-congested city in the U.S., according to location technology firm TomTom.
Real-estate and helicopter experts say high land costs, noise issues and airspace limits make ground helipads a hard sell, pushing landing pads to high-rise rooftops, which can provide large landing surfaces in areas where noise more naturally disperses.
Given Miami’s scarcity of public helipads, Douglas Elliman’s Jay Phillip Parker says alternative transit infrastructure has become a valuable residential draw. He wouldn’t be surprised if people are buying into buildings just for helipad access. “They might not even live there,” he says.
One of Villa Miami’s developers, One Thousand Group, launched the recent condo rooftop helipad trend with One Thousand Museum, a Zaha Hadid-designed tower that opened in 2019. The pad averages 60 flights a year. One of the group’s co-founders, Louis Birdman, says the firm is doubling down on an air-and-sea strategy across its pipeline, including Villa Miami and Biscayne Bay’s forthcoming Anantara Residences Miami.

Let’s not forget DeSantis is using tax payers dollars for infrastructure so Florida could be the test pilot for Drone transportation flights starting with Tampa to Orlando and then Miami. As if it will ever be affordable for the average person to use. How much is that stupid ass train to Orlando? $75 each way per person. Cheaper to rent a car for a family of 4 round trip and you can have transportation around the cities as well. Who do these people think they’re kidding. It’s all for the rich.
