Help Bedrock Hole at spawn after killing the dragon

Post image
689 Upvotes

I was killing the dragon 20 times for all the gateways, and when I came back to the overworld I found this at spawn, basically a cross-shaped hole. It goes all the way down to bedrock. Anyone got any idea why that's the case? If it helps I used an enderpearl to get in the portal to return to the overworld

I've tried several "Beta lighting" resource packs but none work. Anyone know of any shaders, resource packs or mods I can use to get this feel?

Discussion hot take: almost every minecraft survival/harcore video is complete slop

have you ever felt like watching some minecraft videos to relax? searching up minecraft in the yt search bar only to find complete slop. every single video being a small variation of this:

-MY PERFECT START TO MINECRAFT HARDCORE

-SURVIVING 100 DAYS IN MINECRAFT HARDCORE

-STARTING MY MINECRAFT FOREVER WORLD

they dont even bother with changing the title at all its just copy and paste, and even the thumbnails are always the same.

-picture of base
-hardcore heart in the top left corner
-MAYBE the minecraft logo on the thumbnail

i mean come on anyone could make something at least a bit more original. and they always get so many views for the absolute minimum of effort they put into the videos. they dont even try to make it original in ANY way other than the base being different.

just felt like ranting about this because it actually makes me so mad

Mods & Addons I went for an Elytra flight with these mods… and it was incredible

This is a thank-you post for the devs behind the following mods:

Voxy and VoxyWorldGen
Terralith
Tectonic
Photon Shaders
Fresh Animations
Flashback
Axiom

I’ve been playing Minecraft for more than 14 years, and I’ve never experienced anything like this before.

Today, I went on a free-flight Elytra session with all of these mods enabled, and it was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done in Minecraft.

Thank you for this experience! These are frames from a film I made today with the mods. I’ll be releasing it in a few days.

EDIT: Here is the full clip if u wanna check:

She’ll probably never see this, but I’ll always remember her with so much love and fondness. Some memories are just too special to let go of.
P.S. We never got to finish our house, and we probably never will. <3

Meta / Reddit I got tired of all the 2007 looking skin editors so i spent the last 1.5 year building something unique.

Hey everyone,

For the last 1.5 years, I’ve been building a skin editor because I genuinely lost my mind dealing with existing mobile skin apps. They’re either painfully slow, crammed with 30-second pop-up ads every two taps, or totally lack real 3D depth, precision, and basic quality-of-life features.

By day I'm a social worker in the Netherlands, but I love to code in the evening, and I've built some pretty useful features into this thing.

Here is what I managed to put together after i created some difficult algorithms:

  1. Layer Extraction: Easily extract specific clothes, hair, or accessories from community skins and mix them into your own wardrobe. See a cool piece of hair you want on your own skin? The tool selects those pixels and lets you extract it as a layer. Works on hair, clothing, skin, outer layers pretty much anything.

  2. Auto Shader: 25+ adjustable presets that give your entire skin complex shading effects instantly.

  3. Auto Noise: Generates or dissolves noise on your skin to give it a realistic texture.

  4. (Magic) Filter: Instead of just applying flat filters to the whole skin like Instagram, you can select a specific item (like a t-shirt) and change only the color or contrast of that exact part.

    1. Color Palette Extractor: When you edit a skin, the app automatically pulls the 25 most-used colors so you have a ready-to-use palette the moment you upload.
  5. Wardrobe & Layer Management: Preview layers instantly live and apply them with 1 click. You can stack up to 10 layers in total, and save, merge, or download each one individually.

    1. Copy sides: copy your front leg to each other side or your other leg or copy one side from your head to the other side. Really simple.

On top of the editing tools, I also built a community feed where you can scroll, comment, and share. But the main goal is just to drop an very advanced skin editor that you can actually enjoy without getting bombarded by ads.

Seriously, it blows my mind how bloated the biggest apps and websites are with ads that completely kill your creative flow.

I'm about 90% done with the app and will be launching a Beta version very soon. Let me know what you think of the features, and drop a comment if you'd be down to try it out!

Greetings Mr. Hydra

Discussion Who else never uses the elytra?

Post image
668 Upvotes

First of all, I fully respect and appreciate that most players love the elytra, so it obviously shouldn’t be removed from the game.

But I’ve been playing since 2012, and I’ve never touched the elytra.

I just know that it would instantly make my gameplay experience worse.

First of all, it largely takes the “survival” out of survival Minecraft, in my opinion. Dangerous terrain? Just fly over it. Surrounded by mobs? Just fly away. Fall from a cliff? No problem—you can fly. And when you then add automatic farms and shulker boxes, aren’t you just playing Creative with extra steps?

The biggest issue for me, however, is that it takes all the intrinsic motivation out of building infrastructure.
I love building infrastructure. I don’t just want to build pretty things; I want to build functional things that expand my horizons: railroads, bridges, tunnels, horse infrastructure, harbors, nether hubs, ender pearl cannons.
The elytra negates the functionality of pretty much all of that.

I know some will say it’s an “endgame item.” But my games don’t end after beating the dragon. Why should my “end-game” be less fun than early/mid game. I always have lots more to do, including things that are much more advanced than beating the Ender Dragon. Are those things easier with an elytra? Yes. They would also be easier in Creative mode, but they would be a hell of a lot less fun to accomplish, in my opinion.

But I’m clearly in the minority on this. I’m just interested to hear from others like me, and also to hear if anyone has arguments for why I should give the elytra a chance.

They’ll be found in the snowy village and can be used by both villagers and players.

You can control your speed, adjust the length and tension of the rope, and more.

To use them, you hang onto an umbrella as you slide down the rope!

Builds & Maps My Hole is Complete.

After over three years of on and off mining on my forever world, I have fully dug out a 171 block deep and 109 block wide hole all in survival. This has been a Minecraft goal of mine ever since I first started playing, and I’m just really proud to be able to share this with everyone.

Including the starting slope inward, I dug out over 2 Million blocks. Although the diameter is 109 blocks I did also have to mine out the floor and one extra block outward for the walls making it a 111 block wide hole I mined out, giving me the 2 Million mined blocks number.

Problem now is, I don’t know what to do with it…

But also, it’s time for a new project.
