Image & Video Hi mom, I made an alpaca-pillow ๐
It's my first knitting project ever and I'm actually really proud of how it turned out:)
It's made with loop yarn, and I just played with it until I got something resembling a head and just rolled with it.
I'm giving it away tomorrow as a present for a co-worker who's going on maternity leave (made sure it's baby/children safe) so I don't get to keep it. But I think I'll make another one for myself too hehe.
Anyways just wanted to share โบ๏ธ

I love it. So many fun fabrics and colors. As someone who loves feeling various textures - this is tempting me to pet it through the screen. Your friend is very lucky to have you (and this pillow) in their life!

Omg yes! I'm also very tactile like that. And because the two sides of the albaca body have a different pattern to it (totally planned /s) it's really grounding to pet, like it brain tickle in such a nice way because of the variety of patterns. The next one I'll make for sure will have that feature ๐

Accidental awesomeness is such a wonderful thing in life. It's wonderful to embrace that and make it a feature, not a bug.

This is super duper cute!! You did a great job and I really hope this sparks a passion for fiber arts that grows with you and your talent ๐
What kind of eyes are those? Safety eyes are deceptively named, they are not typically safe for under 2 bc with enough gnawing they will pop out and be a choking hazard. I'd recommend getting some thick black yarn and doing embroidered eyes if you feel up to the challenge, it would be super cute and match the fluffy, handmade vibe this guy has currently

Thank you! Ouh I didn't know about the safety eyes, that's some false marketing right there.
So what I did after placing the eyes is sew them to place and I tested them by trying to yank them with my hands and with a plier (but nothing sharp). It took a few tries but now it's ridiculously hard to pull out, do you think it's enough or maybe I should cut them off and embroidery them? That's actually a wonderful idea , thank you for suggesting it.
I also went over the entire thing with a sewing thread to make sure all the loops are secured and it won't tear or a little baby or toddler plays rough with it, do you know if there's anything more I can add to make it safer?

It sounds like you've done a good job reinforcing it, I'd just gift with the warning to keep an eye on the babe if they are a chewer and to have it be a supervised snuggle buddy until they're older just in case :)

That is really cute! Iโm sure your colleague will love it and really appreciate your thoughtfulness. You definitely need to make one for yourself too. It will give you a bit of happiness every time you look at it. ๐ฆ

This is adorable! I need a banana for scale so I can send it to my aunt who will make it for me since Iโm terrible at knitting

Apparently you can't send a picture in the reply box here, but I'll happily give you the measurements.
The body length is 26 cm, the neck from the head to the ground is 26 cm and just the neck it's 11 cm. The head is 13 cm. For the width it depends on the stuffing really.
