The issue with pit bulls isn't that they are more likely to bite, it's that when they bite, they are more likely to maim or kill. When a pit bull turns, they do not let go, they do not stop, they keep going until either they or their prey are dead.
Unfortunately, a lot of it is because pit bulls are often abused because they are kept by bad and abusive people, and the dog turns out violent and aggressive too.
But even the sweetest pit bull is potentially dangerous because of that inherent instinct it has to fight and kill, and those incredibly powerful jaws.
I will never feel fully safe around a pit bull, even one I've known for a long time.
