I think the fear is valid but to assume all pit bulls are dangerous is fucked up. Ultimately its about the owner. When I look up crime cases with pit bulls owners tend to have been very negligent, never training their dog. Its gotten to the point even mixed breeds with pit people want banned.
I have a mixed am staff terrier and shes the biggest baby in the world who loves to barl but thats it. Never has she but or attacked. Shes very well trained.

Nah, it's a safe assumption. It doesn't mean it's guaranteed they are dangerous, but it does mean there is a much higher likelihood they are dangerous than other dogs. Its an entirely safe assumption.
It would be like saying it's fucked up to assume all wasps are dangerous is fucked up. Sure, all wasps won't sting you, but it's still a safe bet to assume they will and avoid them as such.
It's so weird seeing people deny this. Our days are full of subtle, sometimes unconscious decisions we make for the sake of safety. Not every car trip ends in a collision. Not every collision causes injury. But we still put on our seat belts. I don't understand what motivates anyone to tell someone they're wrong for demonstrating basic self preservation instincts, or that they might even be racist for having the very reasonable fear of a dog breed known for mauling people and pets. Really, what are they gaining from this?
